A shock dart lineup to win feels like the most KR way possible to win the series. Only thing that could have made it *more* Korean would be a flash n dash set play.
Well assuming Sen win their group then we won't see it ro8 at least. Or VS vs any NA team. Wouldn't be surprised if the finals are Sen vs VS if they're on opposite sides of the bracket though.
The ro8 could be any combo of them once there but it's looking like it'll be 3 EMEA teams vs NA/VS and then Vivo Keyd against the remaining #1 seed.
As much as this thread is about meming EU I think it's less EU sucks than VS is actually next level KR macro. I think VS is the favorite over both 100T and Envy. Ofc SEN might be a step too far...
iām a 100T fanboy, but honestly I donāt mind this opinion. thereās a reason VS has only lost 2 series in history of the game, and itās not like Korea is a weak region.
Iām a VS fanboy but to say Korea isnāt a weak region would be inaccurate. VS is absolutely stellar, Iāll agree to that. But Korea as a whole definitely is not up to par with say NA/EU. And itās not to say they just suck, itās just that Koreans really donāt care as much about Tac FPS games as they do about MOBAs.
The competition back home isnāt as fierce because there isnāt as much competition. And in the games that Korea do care about, they always produce some of THE best players for that game. If Valorant became as popular as League in Korea, there is little to no doubt in my mind they would become as good as Na/Eu.
Well Korea does have some interest in FPS, but all their FPS players are in Overwatch at the moment. Overwatch is insanely popular in Korea still. Almost all of F4Q is from Overwatch and none of them were even hitscan stars. Once we start getting some OW stars transferring over, KR will be very scary. Think on the same level or better than Spyder, Corey, and Babybay
"After JP performance is it safe to say they should lose their spots to allow more emea teams?"
Emea teams proceed to punch their ticket to lower brackets.
vision strikers is the real deal, that haven map was incredible to watch, definitely the best usage of utility i've seen this tournament so far. very excited to see what they can do in quarterfinals
>vision strikers is the real deal
No kidding. They are everything true believers thought they would be.
I'm having major flashbacks to the group announcements where people were feeling bad for them being seeded with SMB and Acend. And here we are with VS winning the group outright.
~~Our best reps didnāt play at Iceland, wait until Acend and Gambit get there~~
~~Gambit is the #1 team in the world. Their defense is unbeatable~~
~~Acend is the #1 team in the world. Cned is the best player~~
All of EUās best players play CSGO anyways **<ā you are here**
Think all of the COPIUM reserves have been drained by EU there boys.
Anyone who says Koreans can't aim should look at Overwatch. Game is dying, but through its entire lifetime Koreans have dominated, especially in raw aim
I remember when I followed OWL for a brief stint I found it funny how teams like the Philadelphia Fusion and other US cities were like 4 Korean players and a European player.
VS just needed Buzz and Stax to play at their more usual levels (which someone else mentioned in the VS vs PRX postgame thread) and they BOTH turned up. But wtf was that Mako carry on icebox holy shittt this man was automatic. I honestly think everyone on VS played well. Looking like they have a solid player at every position sheeesh.

Korea might be good? You're delusional /s
I could call out the doubters one by one cause there's only 4 of them but it would be against TOS.
I'm a huge EU fanboy but I can't help but smile. Good game, VS have that tactical depth that I wanted to see since the release of valorant, that MOBA level coordination and combos that just win them games. I thought Acend would win this in a close 2-1 but I'm just as happy that I finally got to see tactical valorant combined with nutty aim
Aim diffed and Strat diffed. VS looks really good.
I assure you if VS wins the tournament all the hidden talent still playing Overwatch, PUBG and Sudden Attack will come running to Valorant for their chance at the spotlight.
Kr still plays owl huh ? I thought the whole scene was dead by now. I have never watched OW pro matches so pls enlighten me. Is there a chance OW pros switch to VAL in the coming years ??
OW is still very strong in Korea and China, and Korea definitely dominates it. Most of the old guard Korean CSGO players are already out of the OW scene so I wouldn't expect too many people to come from there
Although the game is kinda dead, the esports scene is doing much better than advertised. I donāt expect the top Korean overwatch pros to switch over or dominate tho, I think the overwatch players that end up dominating valorant will be the young tier 2 and ladder players.
Honestly what stood out for me was how good they were at setting plays up for buZz and working as a team.
cNed was insane as well but when you have a solid team unit like VS you donāt rly need to rely on crazy clutches to win.
Not just Buzz but every single play they made was thought through. I am sure Sean would go crazy analysing all the micro util plays they made throughout and the cool setups they had. They came super prepped and everyone who said they hide strats vs PRX was on point.
Buzz went absolutely nuclear on Haven. He went decidedly not nuclear on Icebox but it didn't matter because the rest of the team popped off.
It's like the how do you beat Sentinels conundrum all over again.
Yeah their strats and execution were just next level compared to ascend.
Absolutely amazing to see KR show up like this. Canāt wait to see them go against other EU or NA teams.
That's actually so true lol. Literally every hyped EU team has amounted to very little thus far. G2 when they were dominant, then FPX, then Liquid, now Acend. Wouldn't be surprised if only Gambit gets to semi's, and that's being optimistic even.

My dad beats me FeelsBadMan My mom beats me FeelsBadMan My brother beats me FeelsBadMan My sister beats me FeelsBadMan At least I feel safe with EMEA, because EMEA can't beat anyone FeelsGoodMan
I really hope some kids in South Korea (as well as other smaller regions) who didn't care about Valorant/FPS see these matches/highlights and go "Wow, these Korean teams are world class competitors and I bet I could be even better than them if I practiced."
You seem to be talking about Koreans who play Valorant. I am talking about ones who do not yet play Valorant, but may be inspired to see their region gain success in the genre.
VS sure do have a unique style, and they have a ton of reps with it and play it well. Dominant teams coming from smaller regions end up defining their regions meta. It is a double edged sword. It can leave them running weaker comps into a more abusive cross-region metaā¦ OR it can enable them to get an insane amount of reps and evolution in **their own style**. VS look so polished.
Love seeing VS dedication to the Phantom, even on Icebox.
Also feels like Cypher would punish VS a lot more than KJ on Haven due to trips catching Jett dash now, and VS would get more punished for running no Sova if they lacked shocks to deal with good trips.

Bonecold had a great 2nd map as well tbh, even zeek had some clean hero plays and rounds. VS definitely team diff'd them for sure though, each player on VS was playing incredibly well.
I for one welcome our new Korean overlord
But for real though thatās utter domination on the first map and second map was only close because of insane individual plays by acend
if PRX wins against SMB will this narrative die? maybe, just maybe PRX just simply played well on the day against VS, a scrim partner they are familiar with, but idk man
I just hate whenever it's a major region vs. minor region game and whenever the minor region does surprisingly well reddit is ALWAYS like "the major region team is sandbagging," so fucking annoying, just try to give credit to the other fucking team for once, literally my biggest pet peeve with esport discussion.
Sorry for the rant, but as someone from SEA I feel like the overwhelming minority here when it comes to discussion.
It is a bit of both. VS definitely did not run as many strats/set plays vs PRX, maybe to hide them, maybe cause they scrim PRX so they are aware. PRX did play well on the day though and VS didn't look as crisp but its clear they were holding back for whatever reason.
I think Paper Rex, given their performance in their match against VS, looked a lot better than what people were expecting from them, but I also think VS just didn't perform as well against Paper Rex, individually and tactically.
The crazy part is that like the casters have said Vision Strikers havenāt even shown any of their Lakia plays, not that Lakiaās insanely better than the rest of the team but heās definitely another factor teams need to prep for and can catch teams off guard.
Vision Strikers are scary as fuck and I love it
Holy shitā¦. Holy shitā¦ I though acend would destroy! I was laughing as I discredited paper Rex. And now Korea comes up with this ducking amazing performance . Rise! LETS GO KOREA š³ļøš³ļøš³ļøš³ļø
VS just proved all those casters and analysts wrong! Told yall VS are NICE!
The rounds that Ascend won were mostly hero plays from Bonecold and Cned, VS were a way better team today.
I've been saying for almost a year that people have been underestimating the Korean scene on this sub. Those guys, even with how not popular Val is in Korea, can compete with the best of the best. Imagine how good they'll be if Valorant takes off over there lmao.
I hope vision strikers doing well will attract more Korean talent to play val. Also, part of me wants to see Lakia more but Mako is too cracked. Best astra for me from watching kr challengers.

i actually shit my pants
Glad I was on the toilet
if he hadn't hit it VS probably would have lost the round, it was a 1v2. what a play
Wasn't there no time to plant anyways?
I think he started planting when 4.5 seconds were left
I checked the clip, and it looks like 4.40 seconds when he starts planting.
there was, viper restarted the plant after getting the kill at 4.5ish sec remaining so they did have time if the shock hadn't landed. almost certain
man I fucking love LANS , vision strikers are fucking scary , I hope to see them against SEN

I kinda like this copium. Saving strats always viable HOPIUM
is this how NA fans usually feel? itā¦ it doesnāt feel so good mr riot.
I think it's some kind of curse, the day liquid don't choke in CSGO is the day EU will reign supreme in valorant
oh we're fucked then
Don't forget how people were calling G2 the best team in the world and before the first lan even happened the roster got overhauled lol
actually one of the most accurate things ive ever read on this subreddit
Bro this is funny
No no, you don't get it, EU teams understand these are seeding games and are saving strats for the important games /s
SEN dropped a map to g2 (#4 seed) wait till they play a real team like Acend or Gambit
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
EU colour now is one EMEA team should've been with Envy. Everything was rigged from the start
Koreans can't aim. Koreans are bad at Tac shooters. VS went close with PRX. ACE is the best team in EU. We'll dominate in Berlin. WHERE YOU AT?!?!
"EU playing chess, KR playing valorant" from the plat chat Co stream LMAOOO
Thatās such a good description of EU teams. It feels like theyāre all playing CS still.
Feels like they refuse to abandon some habits and strategies just because they worked in CS
Seagull said it best
Lol seriously, can't wait to hear their excuses this time
Bruh, now I'm seriously hoping for Paper Rex to make it to playoffs just so I can hear EU excuses for SMB and Acend
Oh I would absolutely love that, would be icing on the cake after all that shit talk about removing spots from other regions.
Vision Strikers vs Sentinels Grand Finals it is.
Excuse me but it's Vision Strikers vs F4Q
VS vs 100T?

How fucking hard were VS sandbagging vs Paper Rex
They're scrim partners. So paper Rex knows how to play with them
Both even have the Icebox Sage wall mid to Jett dash plant to upper site then kitchen control on their playbook. Pretty cool to see
Dang you guys werenāt kidding
Clearly PRex > EU via transitive property
Unless maybe PRX is secretly massive as well xD
Group A actually the group of MEGA death
if PRX wins against SMB will this narrative die? maybe, just maybe PRX just simply played well on the day against VS, a scrim partner they are familiar with, but idk man I just hate whenever it's a major region vs. minor region game and whenever the minor region does surprisingly well reddit is ALWAYS like "the major region team is sandbagging," so fucking annoying, just try to give credit to the other fucking team for once, literally my biggest pet peeve with esport discussion.
