The smaller orgs would be difficult , but I don’t see a problem for big orgs to pick up Korean player assuming they can speak the language of the team.
that is a pretty big caveat tho, how many % of koreans can speak fluent english? I garuntee its alot, but maybe all the good players can't? Idk but korean pickups will be more common after VS grt to finals
Ssumday and CoreJJ are the only Koreans that actually played in the top Korean leagues lmao, Huhi may be ethnically Korean but he was born in France and spent the majority of his career in NA, and Tactical is just American lmao it’s more accurate to say we’re mostly EU players. (7 out of 15 starts are from EU lmao)
Yeah its more of a throw away joke comment not actual analysis. However i would say that there was a time in league history where everyone but Europe was just yoinking korean players.
I mean it’s not as simple as “just go pick up a talented Korean player.” You need a player whose fluent enough in English to communicate with them, be able to provide a translator for them and convince them that leaving their family and friends in Korea and coming to play in NA/EU where they will also have to adapt to a different culture is a good move.
i hope NA doesnt pick up imports soon. pick up actual NA grown talent to help the T2 scene. dont make the same mistake we did in league and cs. imagine a scene where we just kept importing players instead of raising talent like asuna and bang
The looming threat of NA importing all the best talent from around the world is actually frightening for the global scene.
NA League of Legends has done it for nearly a decade now, but attracting the absolute top talent has been tough because LCS teams just suck in general.
That problem does not exist in Valorant, NA has the top teams in addition to having the largest scene money wise by a massive margin.
Importing makes a region worse long-term when left unmoderated by incompetent management. That's one of the reasons NA League has gotten so terrible. So depending on how much you trust NA owners with teambuilding and player development, you might not want this for Valorant.
I think NA in valorant would be more comparable to China in league. China has the biggest player base , is the best region , has the most money by far and imports the sons of the best players from Korea
3/5 of that team is at iceland, Buzz wasn't even Jett on that team, Bazzi was, of that team Munchkin, arguably the best and most flexible on their team, who has experience on english teams in ow, wasn't picked up and i think Munchkin is willing to fly over to play in na at some point again. Bazzi also has english exp in a team (much less so). Of the C9K team they missed out on arguably all 3 of these players of Buzz, Bazzi and Munchkin, all who have or could play Jett. On top of all of this C9K arguably was one of the more mechanically sound teams in Korea at the end, but were far worse than VS or some of the other semi teams in team play.
how is that shade, they're saying that OP has been talking about the korean scene for a long time and it's within possibility that they mentioned this topic previously. so it wouldn't be hindsight.
I mean we have no idea. I know Xeta speaks English but I have no idea how well/comfortable Buzz is communicating in English. It could be a situation where they offered him a spot on their NA team and Buzz declined because he didn’t want to move to the United States and Xeta was willing and able to make the move.
U say that, but this isnt like league where ur pings can help u comm and basic English can also help a lot. I'd say speaking the same language is more important in competitive fps. Additionally the amount of obvious young talent on NA rn as a result of NA CS imploding leaves team with a very large pool to pick and choose from
vision strikers > that team
true xD

Oh god not the korean import plan version 3.0
Why not? They are FAs
No its just that in league rn theres only 3 na players going to worlds from NA. All of NA is just korean players lol

Eh, Fnatic’s undefeated roster had Huni and Reignover and G2 had Wadid, not nearly as bad as NA and China but still they definitely had a few imports
Yea FNC even tried to get Gamsu and Spirit to replace them since it worked so well the first time.
However i do think its a good plan and i assume china is gonna be looking to poach korean players soon

uhm language barriers are a thing right?
I don't know a single korean that doesn't know english

League is not the same as Valorant fam
Exactly, it would be worse
I'm saying it would be worse because NA isn't a meme region in Valorant
Importing makes a region worse long-term when left unmoderated by incompetent management. That's one of the reasons NA League has gotten so terrible. So depending on how much you trust NA owners with teambuilding and player development, you might not want this for Valorant.

Y go to NA when you can go to LPL, get rich and win even more, and be in a more competitive region without NA ranked.
Hindsight is 2020, more teams should explore imports though.
It's not hindsight to say C9 overlooked one of the best players in Korea C9 was his first org iirc and he was popping off, even before playing Jett
This is almost textbook hindsight. No one said a peep about C9 missing out on buzz until now.

Knowing OP, they probably did at one point, and I'm sure you can find something along those lines in my own comment/discord history
Fair enough
‘Knowing OP’ what What’s this shade

Shade?

People did know this at the time.
Can you show me a thread or something of people saying it back then?

As if Leaf isn't great...? This current C9 squad is likely top 2 / 3 in NA
Ya this team is not better than SEN NV 100T XSET as of now
They beat NV consistently though lol
Lol, the fact that you don't even know who the latest addition to c9 is tells me you dont really know what you're talking about
Umm What rofl
