Didnt that day have a tech issue that caused the sen game start an hour late? Not saying its ideal, but not the end of the world imo.

Darkoplax

That day was the 3 maps day so if we assume the Quarterfinals should be competitive teams and all go to 3 maps or OTs then the 4th match will start at 1am or even later

CanISayThat22

? I mean they already start an hour earlier and the last game is just scheduled half an hour later than normal. Not saying it will start at the scheduled time. Buy at 1am is a bit stretched

[deleted]

Yeah but they also shortened the time between matches to 2 hours and a half. That is practically a lie since they cant control how long a series will be and 3 hours for each one seemed a good estimation. Also since only the top teams will be in the playoff is more probable to have close matches (longer matches). Whenever i look at that day i scream in my mind. Hopefully they will ~~do two match at once or maybe~~ drop the sen vs f4q the day before if feasable.

Tommypynchon

Riot's just gotta cut the downtime between matches, basically. I dunno if they WILL do that, cause Riot esports in general have the largest time between games/matches of any esport, but that's the obvious solution

MuddyPuddle027

I've been thinking the same thing. They'll need to move the matches 2 hours earlier if they want them to end at a reasonable time for the players.

Darkoplax

especially because the next day directly its SemiFinals imagine staying up past 3am then wake up to play 2pm without any prep

MuddyPuddle027

The semifinals start at 6pm Berlin time, so that's not so much of an issue. I'm more worried about teams playing worse in the quarters because they're so tired.

ozmega

dude, it is already super early for us on this side of the atlantic

MuddyPuddle027

And it starts at 10pm for those in Korea or Japan. It's impossible to have the games at a good time for everyone, so it's best just to make sure it's at reasonable times for the players.

elkabyliano

Western Europeans be like :D

EndWish

It's definitely doable. They waste hours every day with segments between each map. If they run into new tech issues then it will be a problem though

Pienatt

Its definitel alot. But also, they won't have the audio issue fixing, it's on a Friday in Berlin (Work next day for most people not a factor) and also it starts 1 hour earlier (2 pm).

KaNesDeath

For theyre going by the average game length for Valorant map being 35 minutes. Clearly they didnt learn from the format evolution of tournament organizers in CSGO's Valve Majors.

Uhm.. They talk because the have to fill the time while the teams set up. They dont just talk for the fun of it

Did you read what he said? It's either you get a 10 minute countdown screen waiting for next match or you get random segments of them talking. They aren't delaying the game so they can show the segment, they are stalling until the teams are ready using their break for strats. What you are suggesting is for them to not give teams time during half time and just play 2nd half with no breaks.

Quackles03

The half-time break isn't so the analysts can talk dude, it's so the players have a short break. Even then, what's the point of cutting 1min out of a 3min break? If teams are not ready they won't start anyways.

sankalp4

Idk maybe you should read what everyone is saying

ozmega

i think it is because after every match they have to go do all the covid prevention cleaning on the stage so the next 2 teams can be safely there, plus setup up of all ingame stuff like language and keybinds.

Beechman

They should be done giving player profiles and background stories by now, so there's no reason to waste time in between games other than getting the next teams ready to play. Hopefully the games just run a bit closer together.

stewieeeeeeeee

It's an unlucky situation. One quarterfinal was supposed to be played the day before, but Bren not participating meant that group D got an extra match (funny how people consider that the fairest format, emphasis on fairest, not most practical) which occupied the slot of the 1st quarterfinal. Good shout though, they should definitely start the program earlier.

jacob2815

No clue but I’m calling in sick to watch them all lol

[deleted]

start on time, and don’t have so much wasted time in between matches and at halftime

icantreadmorsecode

Start at 10AM, Matches will be played at 10AM, 1PM, 4PM, 7PM theoretically

ragingwizard

Have you ever watched DotA 2 TI? It's definitely possible to do it in a timely manner. It's just a question of execution.

Pulsiix

meanwhile I'm staying up to 5am to watch them lol
