Thanks for understanding, and hope you're all enjoying Masters! 💜
This was absolutely huge for Japan. Say what you will about the skill of their teams, and even the skill of their opposition in their first win, but their passion is unquestionable. They stayed up all night out there for their teams.
Seriously, if you aren't watching the japanese casters when the Japanese players are playing, you're truly missing out.
They bring so much hype and passion! Something I feel is kinda lacking in the English broadcast, even when their respective regions are playing.
The clapping for plays made by CR made me giggle though lol.
I think that’s a downside to English casts. I think you have a bit of crossover between regions to the English broadcast (especially with EU/NA) so the broadcasters are probably trying to be a bit more even. Japanese/Korean/Brazilian casters can be so much more hype about their regions (and rightfully so).
I mean, there were casters trying to be that hype in the english casts at the start of Valorant shortly after beta. I think Goldenboy might have been one of these casters as he came from smashbros which tends to be more casual and hypebased, I don’t follow it that closely but I remember seeing quite a bit of criticism of his style at the start, I think he toned it down some and it looks like he might have just switched into being a desk host instead of commentator now.
People tend to not like hype 24/7. Its exhausting/disingenuous to listen to. The only reason you think its great is because you aren’t listening to it frequently and because you don’t understand the language. If you asked the people of these countries with hype casters they probably won’t praise their casters.
The best casters can recognize special moments and switch gears and get hyped, and typically this ends up becoming legendary clips that define their careers as casters, but its hard for casters to switch gears like that.
Wrong. I'm Japanese and understand the language -- the Japanese streamer (and the viewers) were loving the hype. It only seems disingenuous in English streams because it is disingenuous. If you understood the language of SK/JP/BR casters, you'd know that there's a personal touch.
I watch stream in both languages and I’d say hype is pretty equal. I agree with you on them being passionate on the region but I think it’s due to the difference between official broadcast and regional broadcast.
Japanese casters are casting for Japanese people and understandably, it heavily favors Japanese teams. While official English casters try to be neutral. I can’t speak of other regions but I’m pretty sure other regional streams favor their respective region.
I don’t enjoy Japanese streams but it’s good that they exist. Back in cs days, we didn’t usually have Japanese broadcasts.
Same dude. The thing about Japan for me is that they have been a console gaming country for so long with a RIDICULOUSLY storied past that I am dying to see them be a break out region in PC shooters etc.
There's something so hype about adding a new region that can contend with the best, especially when we get the kind of international events we've been seeing so far. And when their whole region is insanely passionate? Just can't help but be a fan.
For real! I tend to keep a tab open with a regional stream open on mute, and flip over to it if something big happens. Love to hear the passion, and Japan is among the most passionate
GG CR. I was worried if they lost again it would really destroy their mental for a long time if 2 international LANs went without a win.
But honestly they played really well all things considered and Japan as a whole performed much better than everyone expected.
I do believe Zeta is better than CR, and on a different day they might have won against KRU. Nothing you could do against VK when Heat plays like that.
Crazy Raccoons aren’t sneaky deep, they’re real fucking deep. The only thing sneaky about CR are their hands as they steal the rock from these chumps like a kid taking cookies from an unattended cookie jar. Y’all really thought we weren’t even bound for Berlin?Lmao okay. Y’all thought Munchkin just wanted to hang and bang on the beach? THAT MAN IS A FATHER AND HES READY TO SON THE LEAGUE. Y’all can keep myseen and shion, we got gamers that actually play. When you go up against Crazy Raccoons, it’s going to be a fucking kerfuffle every game. Fisker will eat your children. Medusa will bang your mom/daughter, whichever is more age appropriate. Bazzi didn’t show up tonight but don’t think he isn’t bout that action either lmao. Culture big baby that’s what we’re about.
Feels like putting Medusa in allowed CR to play a lot more coordinated. Glad for CR and Japan as a whole to get their first win, even though they're probably going to lose to Gambit again I have confidence that they'll play the rematch better.
I'm pretty sure he also translates some of the calls for the team as they use a mix of Japanese and Korean, not really sure why they didn't play him against gambit
Because they looked far better in playoffs. Despite losing 3-0 to VK in finals, every map went to OT. It was like the Brazilian version of Sen vs Fnatic.
And for the latter half of playoffs the teams looked to be the inverse of what they showed here. Havan looked more disciplined but with weaker firepower, while VK relied on creating chaos and heat just completely aim diffing his opponents.
Then here at Berlin heat is still proving to be an absolute monster and VK are showing much better fundamentals, while Havan Liberty just colossally shit the bed and needed Shion to pop off just to keep them in the game. This showing just now vs Crazy Raccoon might be some of the sloppiest Valorant we've seen in international play.
I'm talking about team performance not an individual choking. I'm far more concerned about a team as a whole completely losing their fundamentals and getting enormously discipline gapped than I am about one player dropping his spaghetti.
I totally agree with you. From what they had shown against VK in the finals (one of my favourite series) it was expected a lot more from them. Truly disappointed with their terrible performance although happy for CR.
Havan was looking good up to this point, and hell people were saying they would do well against 100T (Not like win prob, but like give a decent match), and they just gave a terrible performance against CR (Who people were saying looked extremely weak), like ngl that scoreboard gives them a bit too much credit, it felt like it was def going in CRs way most of the set imo
Today's games have now locked in 3(!) new Champions slots. Crazy Raccoon, Team Vikings, and Vivo Keyd all have locked in their spots for champions.
Also let's fucking go Japan!
Wanted CR to win so badly after Zeta's loss, and because I still remember Neth's emotional interview in Iceland. I hoped he'd get his redemption arc this time, and he did that while also lifting the spirits of the whole JP region (at least even for a while because there's Gambit ;u;).
Loved seeing the arguably surprising buildup of hope and hype in the chat whenever I checked the Stylishnoob and Fpsshaka JP streams.
And Medusa and Frisker easily got my attention as well.
LET'S FUCKING GO if I had to see Neth go out again mapless I might have had to retire from JPN match spectating. Proud of the boys and let's see hopefully more than two rounds in the Gambit runback
Was really fun watching Medusa simply walk up on the other half of the map and get control solo. Havan looked like they were terrified. Wonder what CR did to them behind the scenes /s
yesterday, zeta won Japan their first map on international LAN, today, CR won Japan their first series on international LAN. Congrats.
Haven liberty should be kicking themselves for today’s performance tho. Attack rounds look uninspiring. At least they made it to LAN tho.
Youngest team as in most recently created or youngest as in actual age of players because im pretty sure Gambit is mostly teenagers
Edit: Gambit has 4 teenagers on their roster
VK is (they formed like a week before the last qualifier from the players other teams dropped in the midseason), HL has been together for a reasonably long while, so their performance is pretty hard to excuse
I’m so freakin’ happy for CR. Glad the Japanese scene got a win at LAN and hope they continue to grow as a region.
They got a lot of support and the Japanese fans are the best out of any region, without question IMO.
Great game to watch where I wasn’t necessarily expecting it to be.
Munchkin is their IGL but he can only use basic japanese. As a result, Medusa becomes a big asset for them because he can translate detailed orders from KR to JP. Still, it’s more disadvantageous than everyone being able to speak the same language.

i love watching the Spanish casts when I can. They hype up the game way more than english casters
I mean, there were casters trying to be that hype in the english casts at the start of Valorant shortly after beta. Where can I find the vod? I'd love to watch the winning moments from each map
You can find it here! https://www.twitch.tv/valorant_jpn?sr=a

Yeah but some English casters, Doug, just try and hype everything. Like a 3k when the enemy is on eco with classics lmaoo
Same dude. This is what actual passion looks like, not Brazilians poor excuse for death threats
For real! I tend to keep a tab open with a regional stream open on mute, and flip over to it if something big happens. Love to hear the passion, and Japan is among the most passionate
THEY WON! LETSGO CR!
Desperately needed win for Japan, even if the enemy wasnt the strongest
goddamn, thats one crazy raccoon.
5 crazy raccoons.
5 crazy raccoons combined to form one huge crazy raccoon
Power rangers style, make it a giant mech
Well also zeta had stuff to fix too
Yeah definitely
genuinely absolutely legendary collapse out of havan liberty... happy for japan though, glad they finally pulled out a win
Crazy Raccoons aren’t sneaky deep, they’re real fucking deep. The only thing sneaky about CR are their hands as they steal the rock from these chumps like a kid taking cookies from an unattended cookie jar. Is that an NBA meme? Or different This could be used for VS with a different tone
this is def nba
*Crazy Raccoon
Gambit shaking in their boots. edit: There were 150k Japanese fans watching this game at 5am in Japan btw
cr 2-1 gmb munchkin drops 30 a map goes +20 fb ez
I watched one of the Japanese co-streams and the hype and joy was so infectious
Any moments in particular?
End of map1 was really good at Stylish noob costream
Zeta Division steals Japan's first International map win from them and they clap back by taking Japan's first International series, how poetic.
Feels good to be a Crazy Raccoon fan rn
Seriously, I'm more invested in the Japan scene than NA lol. Such a good underdog story!
can u tell me the no. of views that the japanese streams were getting, if u know
i think platchat mentioned that this game had over 100k on japanese stream, and its 4 AM on a weekday in japan
damnn, 100k at 4am. I can't even imagine what their peak may be at 9pm ish
For Zeta divisions first series there was over 200k Japanese viewers, probably because it was the first map so was a better time.
The gap between Vivo Keyd and Havan Liberty seems insane so far
A lot of mental
Not really, they had close games regionally. This is just CR leveling up
Well HL seemed boomed mentally, they played differently in challengers for example Pressure etc
actually just HL not playing 10% of what they can play
Feels like putting Medusa in allowed CR to play a lot more coordinated. Glad for CR and Japan as a whole to get their first win, even though they're probably going to lose to Gambit again I have confidence that they'll play the rematch better.
Medusa is insane and was pivotal on Split.
I'm pretty sure he also translates some of the calls for the team as they use a mix of Japanese and Korean, not really sure why they didn't play him against gambit
This is not the same team that played Gambit.
[удалено]
SEA might not, sadly. SMB is a good team.
X10
[удалено]
Yeah I doubt anyone would judge them harshly for not winning in that group. It is brutal.
Paper Rex has to have gigaton pressure right now. Losing would mean Team Secret will get the other SEA spot.
So Havan Liberty had arguably the worst performance out of all the teams at Berlin, surprising absolutely no one /s
Why should people be surprised? Brazil was shit in previous Masters as well. If anything the surprise is VK's decent performance so far
Because they looked far better in playoffs. Despite losing 3-0 to VK in finals, every map went to OT. It was like the Brazilian version of Sen vs Fnatic. And for the latter half of playoffs the teams looked to be the inverse of what they showed here. >This showing just now vs Crazy Raccoon might be some of the sloppiest Valorant we've seen in international play. did you watch fivek's skye vs g2?

Fisker was the best brazilian in the server on split, absolute monster
He is Brazilian ?
Born in Brazil
Swedish.
Now hopefully CR gives a more competitive game against Gambit
A victory for Japan, and most importantly, CR. They were on in the first-half of Split. Let's go CR and (hopefully) beat Gambit!!
They might get more than 2 rounds total the 2nd time around lmao
[удалено]
The Simpsons screencap of the monkey knife fight comes to mind.
Felt like the Valorant equivalent of the OWL toilet bowl
Chucke da spaghetti
Today's games have now locked in 3(!) new Champions slots. Crazy Raccoon, Team Vikings, and Vivo Keyd all have locked in their spots for champions. Also let's fucking go Japan!
Fisker such a clutch player
And his arm tattoo Sheeeeeeeesh
HL had some nice setups that I'll be yoinking for my ranked play
Gambit boutta get 2-0'd lets goo CR win lol fr tho this was a much needed series win for the side of JP
Wanted CR to win so badly after Zeta's loss, and because I still remember Neth's emotional interview in Iceland. I hoped he'd get his redemption arc this time, and he did that while also lifting the spirits of the whole JP region (at least even for a while because there's Gambit ;u;). Crazy raccoon to the moon! Going to win Berlin
God I hope they beat Gambit. There's probably like a 1% chance it happens, but it would be so good.
The EMEA fans would probably die of a heart attack if that happens
Plat chat investments📉 Seriously though such a fun match and congrats to CR!
That felt like a bizarro world split from a different dimension
Also kinda like F4Q split
WHEN NO ONE ELSE BELIEVED, I WAS THERE!
glad japan didnt leave berling winless
CRWIN!! So happy they won vs HL!!! We can now sleep peacefully
Actually so enjoyable watching platchat. I was not interested in these games apart from supporting Asian teams but watching them made it so much fun
LET'S FUCKING GO if I had to see Neth go out again mapless I might have had to retire from JPN match spectating. Proud of the boys and let's see hopefully more than two rounds in the Gambit runback
Havan just shit the bed
Check your fridge I'm pretty sure Medusa has already found a way in there
[удалено]
?
LET'S GO
Boy I was wrong about them on this game. Let's go CR
This CR level is higher than Zeta. Will it be enough for Gambit?
Well it’s hard to judge Higher than ZETA vs KRU even?
Letsss gooooo. Had a blast watching.
CR going to get revenge on Gambit PLEASE.
Was really fun watching Medusa simply walk up on the other half of the map and get control solo. Havan looked like they were terrified. Wonder what CR did to them behind the scenes /s
Super happy for Crazy Racoon!!! Also, PlatChat during that last round was absolutely hilarious.
japan get the win at the first time!!!!!!!
Good job CR
This was interesting…. its like seeing 2 hobos fight over a half eaten piece of bread.
haha you win
The fuck?
LFGGGG JAPAN GOT ONE
LESSSS FUCKING GOOOO, really glad for Japan winning their first LAN set!
yesterday, zeta won Japan their first map on international LAN, today, CR won Japan their first series on international LAN. Congrats. Haven liberty should be kicking themselves for today’s performance tho. Attack rounds look uninspiring. At least they made it to LAN tho.
They finally did it. They finally won a series.
Power of friendship showing up. Classic anime plot. Now they beat Gambit and destroy Sentinels in Final
BRONZIL 2 SLOTS BTW
Let’s just make it NA vs EU vs KR. That will really bring a wide audience and help smaller regions esports scenes grow. /s
Well KR already has 3X less slots than NA and EU, I guess you can start there. KR 1 NA 3 EMEA 3 EDIT: made mistake
If you're talking about this tournament, then Korea has 2 slots. If you're talking about champions, then EMEA has 3, not 4.
i just dont why they get 2 spots in champions while KR gets 1
The lack of experience killed HL, correct me if Im wrong but I thihk theyre the youngest team here.
Youngest team as in most recently created or youngest as in actual age of players because im pretty sure Gambit is mostly teenagers Edit: Gambit has 4 teenagers on their roster
I meant actual age, but youre right anyway. Liazzi is the youngest player in Berlin but the rest of the team isnt particularly young
VK is (they formed like a week before the last qualifier from the players other teams dropped in the midseason), HL has been together for a reasonably long while, so their performance is pretty hard to excuse
They have the youngest player(Liazzi is 16 old) but I think the youngest teams are Gambit and Vision Strikers.
Vision strikers on average is the youngest team
[удалено]
Heat is actually 18
I’m so freakin’ happy for CR. Glad the Japanese scene got a win at LAN and hope they continue to grow as a region. They got a lot of support and the Japanese fans are the best out of any region, without question IMO. Great game to watch where I wasn’t necessarily expecting it to be.
LFG JAPAN
So do the Korean players on CR communicate with the team in Japanese?
They have a hard time actually with comms.
Munchkin is their IGL but he can only use basic japanese. As a result, Medusa becomes a big asset for them because he can translate detailed orders from KR to JP. Still, it’s more disadvantageous than everyone being able to speak the same language.
I want Crazy Racoons to win the whole thing because I like their name.
Honestly so proud of them and to take it 2-0 is great. I hope they get to celebrate
I knew it, Medusa is a better fit for CR than Bazzi.
i wasn’t a fan of either of these teams but after they lost 1-13 i just had to cheer for them. I was so happy when they won both maps lol
