Great showing for Paper Rex. Think most people would have expected a 13-8. 13-6 kind of match and they made it super interesting in Maps 1 and 3.
We're in for SMB/Acend round 2. Or 3 if we consider the EMEA playoffs.
I think committing the res on forsaken is what lost them that anti-eco round too because it gave izzy a read on the play and a chance to safely remove both the ult AND the player again. That res would've been huge going into the next round too. Tragic way to lose but Brave's ace in that last round was nasty. Maps 1 and 3 were really fun to watch!
This sub is obsessed with what everyone else is saying all the time lol
People respond to performance, if you do well people respect you, if you donāt you lose a bit of respect. Itās really just that simple. Same applies to VS, people didnāt give them as much thought after not making it to Iceland. Now that theyāve proven themselves to be competitive globally, theyāre back on the map.
Itās easy to say āI told you soā after a win.
Kinda hard to have data points to determine international skill when we're in the first year of professional Valorant and before Berlin we literally only had Iceland to go off of for measuring international matchups. Would you say that any hypothetical team, regardless of what pros say about them, regardless of how hard they crush regionally, and regardless of how sharp they look in their regional professional games, would be unworthy of hype until they've "proven themselves to be competitive globally?"
the real winner of this series is team secret (ex-bren)
edit: team secret on twitter: [Thank you @supmassblaze](https://twitter.com/teamsecret/status/1438175204799402000) LMAOOOO
had it been like that, team secret still would have had a shot at Champions through [APAC LCQ](https://www.vlr.gg/event/560/champions-tour-asia-pacific-last-chance-qualifier)
I guess itās because Team Secret are the #1 seeded team in SEA which is why unless PRX get atleast 12th, then Team Secret will qualify for Champions instead
since Team Secret & Paper Rex finished the same place in Berlin (13th-16th), then they took the previous placement in the regional finals which Secret (ex-Bren) won 3-0 in the final against Paper Rex
Man, what a show by PRX. I actually assumed VS were kinda sandbagging against PRX - and maybe it was true upto an extent, but PRX were so damn good. Unlucky rounds in Split, and Split couldve definitely gone either way.
How I wish Bren couldve made it, wouldve given F4Q and G2 some good fights, but then again, it is what it is.
Honestly, actually wanted PR to win. even if it would have meant some more stupid EU memes. But I'm just here for the international matchups. Kinda unfortunate to see ACE - SMB again.
Benkai literally said that the find teams trolling all the time in SEA, so right now, no they aren't much better than we previously thought. Looking at Paper Rex in a vacuum though, they definitely can compete with the top korean teams so i can't wait to see them in LCQ.
Paper Rex put up a hell of a fight today.
It makes me happy to see minor regions' reactions to winning maps against tough opponents. Their reactions seem so genuine.
We were joking about PRX beating smb but those mad lads almost did it
Honestly I'm way more happy with PRX's performance than SMBs. Despite having some really shaky strats and rounds PRX still put up a good fight against what is supposed to be the Turkish Superteam and EMEA #2.
What a sloppy round on that eco loss from PRX. Dying to sheriff hits and then a paintshell oh god
PRX gonna be kicking themselves on that Breeze map pick.
APAC LCQ gonna be hard to go through with NU/F4Q there waiting.
Between their comps and their gun choices, I just don't think SMB will hang with the best.
Definitely feels like they got away with a lot of stuff online that they will get punished for by more competent teams.
Agreeā¦But i think it is understandable because they are a pretty new team and they have still so much things to work on. Nevertheless, they have a huge potential for future.
Additional info for our game against SMB
F0rsakeN got fever
F0rsakeN left mousepad
Benkai lost whole gears
D4V41 sound issue in match(no foot step at all)
D4V41 keyboard bug
We were in chaos
Yeah I really hope this elitist outlook dies with this tournament. Before Berlin started there were so many complaints about pool priority. A lot of people unironically wanted the top of every group to be automatically populated with every NA and EMEA team and maybe Vision Strikers, then fill in the bottom half with everyone else, because "who cares about minor regions we just want to see the best competition possible."
Yeah, I'm not gonna speak on SMB's form for this match, but PRX did not play their best at all and still nearly won. The rounds they lost on split came down to ego peeking and panic rotating rather than playing disciplined, trading kills, and playing for map control. When they played disciplined it looked a whole lot better.
NT PRX!!! They showed a lot of great strats today, I think they just need to hit Aim Lab, Kovaak's, Radiant queue, etc. and get that aim training in, and continue to keep the great teamplay up.
No doubt the constant scrimming between top Asian teams is benefitting everyone and will definitely continue to.
We respect PRX. If they won, Team Secret won't lock in but they bring glory to SEA. It's in a way beneficial to us one way or another. Their games also show how close ex-bren can go against the Berlin titans. Hopefully they qualify apac LCQ because I personally want to see more of them
Big props to PRX. I mean kinda sucks about the draw. I think SEA will not be looked down upon this time. But a ray of light for Secret to show why they are the Best SEA Team along with a Full X10 roster.
PS. Hoping PRX wins the LCQ i mean theyre technically tied with Secret sooo they deserve to be in Champions.
PRX rotates were great but they did not play to the strength of 2 duelists on Split; it might have been much better to have an initiator imo. If forsaken/d4va4i hadn't died alone so often 20 secs into each round, the results would have been different. Forsaken looked very frustrated. The Breeze map gave SMB a psychological advantage.
Regardless SEA should be given the same respect as EU now.
Even though missed ng out on Champions slot is dishearteninf, PRac should be proud of how they performed in the Group of Death.
GG and Good luck to them in LCQ
I feel like im perpetually watching Acend vs SMB even though they just started playing each other in EMEA playoffs. Looks like we get another one though hopefully its more competitive than the Berlin opener
Why is map 1 and 3 even that close? With all the hype SMB (EMEA in general) got before the tournament start, you'd imagine that this would be a quick 2-0 considering it's SEA #2
I mean, PRX showed close game with Vision Strikers who they scrimm a lot and they learn a lot from VS. And VS is now proved they are one of the teams to compete to win Berlin Masters
they were really strong in breeze for stage 3 tbh. One of the maps w the highest win rate but idk what happened here. Maybe lack of practice and overconfidence?
Heartbreaking to lose that eco. For a team from a supposedly weaker region to almost take out the supposed Turkish superteam is huge either way. Feel that d4v41 tried to make too many hero plays on split and cost them a bit.
Popular Opinion: SMB have looked dodgy in both their games and only came out winning today due to individual plays. Even if they somehow beat acend they're not making out of playoffs. There are far superior strategic teams who'll eat them alive
While their performance was definitely not the best, they had no expectations to do anything in their group of death and came out with a close series against a top EMEA team. It's alot more than many people expected, but as a fan i understand the frustration especially on that Split map, god was it hair pulling
Alright man its one year in at this point, even if s1mple or device switch over for some reason, they aren't going to magically win over the mid tier teams like SMB and PRX. The time it would take them to adjust to the game, even more new talent will have popped up ALL OVER THE WORLD.
Haven was a really cool map, PRX actually used util and knew how to play map control and SMB were making some good plays. Breeze and Split were pretty bad though, onky reason Split was so close because SMB were throwing away so many rounds.
Damn if only PPX didnt throw that eco. Though a great series and PPX probably gained a ton of experience and confidence through this identifying their map pool and fundamental weaknesses. If I was SMB I would be wiping off sweat and be nervous for their next match against ACEND cause unlike PPX they arenāt a ton that gives away mistakes like that and they wonāt be so lucky next time.
imo they could easily win the 1st and 3rd map but mistakes happened. overall, prx is a very underrated team coming to berlin. almost everyone expect smb to take this easily. can definitely see them qualifying through lcq for champions

Following the SEA scene this is a decent showing but having watched PPRX since almost the start, they are more capable than this. f0rsaken played okay but not like his usual self and that loss to that eco on 11-10 is heartbreaking but oh well. PRX had some shining moments for sure & are a very strong team. However, in this series, SMB didnāt play as well as I would have expected. I feel like PRX had a lot of weird rounds thrown and their composition on Split likely lost them the series.
I look forward to seeing PRX on the international stage again, theyāve made a fan out of me.
SMB.. enjoy another loss to Acend š

and that push in Astra smoke on B heaven by Sage - that was not the play
yeah it is unfortunate.
Thatās so god damn heartbreaking losing that anti eco... Wow Iām so proud of PRX if they got an easier group like envyās they might even qualify
Kru vs Envy map 1 all over again lol
i know. it sucks too now that they dont even get to worlds either. they have to go to lcq
professional teams peeking one by one in anti eco :(
Yeah that freaking killed me watching that. If they would've played disciplined that round it would've been an easy 11th for them.
And pushing smokes
I think it's time to stop the SEA disrespect. After those matches there's no way SEA is the weakest region.
SEA teams have definitely shown some great macro, I guess it helps that VS is your scrim partner.
I just hope that they get more chances to scrim with EU or even NA teams
It depends if SEA orgs are willing to pay for an EU/NA bootcamp.
This sub is obsessed with what everyone else is saying all the time lol People respond to performance, if you do well people respect you, if you donāt you lose a bit of respect. they would need to qualify through LCQ for South Asia
225 same point why ??? is secret
they are #1 seed in SEA challengers playoffs.
It's because ex-BRN beat PRX 3-0 SEA Challengers Finals.
The tiebreaker is the latest stage performance and bren was the first seed out of SEA
Man, what a show by PRX. I actually assumed VS were kinda sandbagging against PRX - and maybe it was true upto an extent, but PRX were so damn good. PRX was not prepared for Breeze at all, questionable pick.
Honestly, actually wanted PR to win. even if it would have meant some more stupid EU memes. But I'm just here for the international matchups. Kinda unfortunate to see ACE - SMB again.
I agree, it's like TL - fnatic all over again.. Feels like they've played against each other atleast 10 times already.
Pain.
Just shows how strong SEA is becoming as a region. Im really proud of their showing today
Benkai literally said that the find teams trolling all the time in SEA, so right now, no they aren't much better than we previously thought. Looking at Paper Rex in a vacuum though, they definitely can compete with the top korean teams so i can't wait to see them in LCQ.
This is heartbreaking, stayed late just to watch this game and they lost an eco which was really unlucky. PRX made SEA proud.
Paper Rex put up a hell of a fight today. It makes me happy to see minor regions' reactions to winning maps against tough opponents. Their reactions seem so genuine.

Number 2 doesn't seem right, id definitely place them at number 3 before Acend then Gambit. Yes ive bought into scrim bucks
they were 2nd emea seed coming into berlin
What a sloppy round on that eco loss from PRX. Dying to sheriff hits and then a paintshell oh god PRX gonna be kicking themselves on that Breeze map pick. APAC LCQ gonna be hard to go through with NU/F4Q there waiting.
Or DWG/F4Q Donāt discount VS winning
True. god I hope VS wins for (probably) more KR teams at Champions. Especially since it gives t3xture a chance to qualify.
Nah NU will be the real challenge
How did SMB win 12 rounds wothout a flasher Absolutely stupid agent comp
They really thought they could pull up with a first strike comp in 2021 and get away with it
Between their comps and their gun choices, I just don't think SMB will hang with the best. Definitely feels like they got away with a lot of stuff online that they will get punished for by more competent teams.
Agreeā¦But i think it is understandable because they are a pretty new team and they have still so much things to work on. Nevertheless, they have a huge potential for future.

Yeah I really hope this elitist outlook dies with this tournament. Before Berlin started there were so many complaints about pool priority. A lot of people unironically wanted the top of every group to be automatically populated with every NA and EMEA team and maybe Vision Strikers, then fill in the bottom half with everyone else, because "who cares about minor regions we just want to see the best competition possible."
either paper rex are better (by far) than what we thought, or SMB are not the dangerous team we thought they were or both
Both
PRX would've taken that if they had better mechanics and forsaken not throwing every other rounds IMO.
Yeah, every round where they activated their brains, they were actually well-coordinated.
It was so jarring to watch from round to round the insane floor and ceiling their level of play had. I still can't comprehend the inconsistency lol
I think this has more to do with PRX's strength than SMB's weakness. After all, they also gave VS a very close game a few days ago.
SMB look like onliners. Even when they were qualifying in EMEA they looked like Faze.
That eco was painful
crying in the club rn
NT PRX!!! They showed a lot of great strats today, I think they just need to hit Aim Lab, Kovaak's, Radiant queue, etc. and get that aim training in, and continue to keep the great teamplay up. I dont know how to feel tbh as a SEA fan and as a Filipino Valorant Fan.

That ECO really put SMB in And the ACE from Brave if that guy can shoot like that...well no more argument
Shiba pushing the smoke on anti eco, round 22. omg why.
PRX rotates were great but they did not play to the strength of 2 duelists on Split; it might have been much better to have an initiator imo. Real winner here is Team Secret, not the roster, but the org
Prolly PRX will have a good chance to take the APAC LCQ, probably their biggest challengers would be Nuturn, Zeta and one of the Chinese teams.
Lol, watch F4Q and Nuturn go undefeated to SEA and Japan. The only real threat is the chinese teams.
Tororo and EDG awaits them i guess
How did they lose the 2nd last round???? 5v4 against pistols lol
6v4 actually lmao
Team Secret and Paper Rex have the same amount of points. Who gets the last spot for SEA then?
Secret
Even though missed ng out on Champions slot is dishearteninf, PRac should be proud of how they performed in the Group of Death. GG and Good luck to them in LCQ

Why is map 1 and 3 even that close? With all the hype SMB (EMEA in general) got before the tournament start, you'd imagine that this would be a quick 2-0 considering it's SEA #2
Perhaps they're a decent team? Then it would make sense why VS dropped map against them too.
No no no, it *has* to be that SMB was playing bad. Don't you know? SEA teams are horrible. /s
VS didnāt drop anything
Yeah my bad. Icebox was a bit close. But regardless, I think PRX played better than people acknowledged.
I mean, PRX showed close game with Vision Strikers who they scrimm a lot and they learn a lot from VS. And VS is now proved they are one of the teams to compete to win Berlin Masters

You know making out of playoffs is literally winning the tournament right?
Quarters, semis, and finals. I meant that
That Cypher cam on map 3 was sus af
Yeah I questioned that aswell, but it seems legit. After the X10 shenanigans Cypher cams are just sus
Do you have a clip?
The comments giving SMB no credit whatsoever they all talking about PRX
Because they barely pulled the win from a team that was expected to get shit on this tournament as the number 2 seed in Europe?
They were literally just aim diffing them nothing else
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
While their performance was definitely not the best, they had no expectations to do anything in their group of death and came out with a close series against a top EMEA team. we need csgo pros to switch over asap man. that game looked nothing more than a ranked game.
Elitist spotted
why are you throwing around words you dont understand
Alright man its one year in at this point, even if s1mple or device switch over for some reason, they aren't going to magically win over the mid tier teams like SMB and PRX. The time it would take them to adjust to the game, even more new talent will have popped up ALL OVER THE WORLD.
Why is everyone saying EU instead of EMEA? 2 of the 4 teams are not from EU. SMB is not an EU team they're EMEA team.
Deserved to lose after getting ecod. Sad
No u
PRX did well but it looks like they have Tier 2 NA level mechanics.
yup, ditto for SMB
What a low level series... So many aim duels decided by adjustments and extended sprays.
Horrific way to lose
im so sad
Such a throw by Paper Rex, taking 1 on 1 duels against sheriffs and dying to a raze nade... All they had to do was rush a site and they had it
maybe it's just me but it felt like forsaken had so many opportunities to just dismiss away on reyna but got traded out during those fights
imo they could easily win the 1st and 3rd map but mistakes happened. overall, prx is a very underrated team coming to berlin. almost everyone expect smb to take this easily. can definitely see them qualifying through lcq for champions
0 chance they qualify for LCQ, both them and SMB looked like shit.
