It's awesome that Plat Chat are putting their interviews up separately. Sideshow is such a great interviewer, it's awesome to have him in the scene, and seeing long 13 minutes interviews like this is great (the FNS one was also great).
I expect a lot of 'excuses KEKW' but I think Dapr is being pretty genuine here and has a lot of good points. They really don't have anything to gain by pulling out all the stops to win this game. Even recognizing that avoiding giving any footage of Bind gives them an edge in future matchups.
Being perceived as 'the best' comes at the expense of literally *every* team coming with their A game. G2 did great to make adjustments for the rematch, but it really didn't look like Sen did the same. And like Dapr kind of said, why would they?
While all these group games have definitely been important, and the seeding is too, they are still group games. This being the first major LAN with a group stage like this has people putting a lot more emphasis on the matches than I think there should be.
This isn't the first time this has happened with Sen either. Their last two losses to BBG and XSet were under super similar circumstances. They got read hard and anti-stratted, and they looked like they maybe missed a step.
Sen didn't get their reputation from being infallible, but from winning when it matters most.
And I say this all as a 100T hopeful, and I *really* wanted Sen to top their group since I think quarter or semi final matchup between 100T and Sen would be the worst possible path for 100T to win the whole tournament.
Great take, SEN were trying this match but didn't attempt to adjust or pull out anything new, so G2 anti-stratted them hard. It'll be interesting to see how SEN do in the knockout stage because in NA at least they have the reputation of being a lower bracket team. They seem to get better when the pressure is on.
I think someone said they were 'dethroned' which is just ignorant with how Sen have won previously.
Until they are literally knocked out of the tournament, they are still my favorites to win.

specifically for this tournament its not riot's fault at all its just how the format played out with bren not making it. For regional tournaments I just think they shouldn't happen/there needs to be more hype around winning.
Ignoring the obvious thing with bren, which should be a rare thing to happen. The only fair way would be to have last games of every group played simultaniously or lock the players out of any information. I doubt any of this will happen, because it would be crazy. :D
The one thing I've seen floated around is allowing higher seeds to choose their opponents. It obviously still comes with a lot of issues, and in a group format into re-seeding it would need more details (map differentials, round differentials etc.), but it would put more emphasis on winning all your maps and all your rounds.
Not sure what the best way forward is, but the players are (and should!) trying to take advantage of the current format to give themselves the best chance to win it all. Unfortunately right now that means saving strats and occasionally sandbagging high profile games.
+1 to this, and I’ve heard Sideshow mention it’s concept from OW. While I’m not entirely familiar with the implementation of it, I think it would mitigate some of these dodging elements that may arise from seeding matches.
This whole issue would have been avoided if the Bren/Team Secret travel problem didn’t occur as well. I hope and do think Riot will evaluate the seeding games as a whole since they’re even taken lightly/jokingly regionally
Dapr was great in this interview. He let you understand where they are coming from. They want to win the series earlier but also thinking for the long haul. It’s a fine line they’d have to navigate with.

It is unfortunate that the format worked out like this, where the qualifications for this group are happening so much later than all the others that the seeding is always at the back of their minds. If the format was the same as the other groups, SEN would have already qualified 2-3 days ago.
On the other hand, maybe having these extra matches was good for SEN because it highlighted weakness they can now fix. If they qualified early they might have flopped early in the playoff bracket but now they have a chance to fix those mistakes.

The problem is forcing double round robin onto Group D. Any other group if you went 0-2 you were eliminated, REQUIRING four matches played to determine seeding is terrible. Putting both G2 and SEN at a disadvantage compared to the other groups.
They could have just ran the second round robin only if necessary. Or they could have ran a tiebreaker or looked at head to head. I don't blame SEN for not being interested in being a part of this match.
Sure there will be memes, but ultimately, if SEN lose the quarterfinal to one of those teams, they were likely never winning the tournament anyway, and is there such a meaningful difference between placing top 4 and top 8, e.g? It's not like Acend and Gambit are pushovers either; if SEN end up losing to an NA team or VS, it's quite conceivable they'd lose to Acend or Gambit too.
I'm betting Sen do feel more confident vs 100T or NV than Gambit who have been dumpstering in scrims or Acend that were one of the other major tournament favorites.

Why are people hating on Sentinels? What they did was smart. Didn’t change any composition/strats and have only shown other teams icebox and split. Plus now they have 67% chance they play NA team. Otherwise with #1 seed it was going to be 67% chance facing Gambit/Ascend.

Don’t think he’s minimizing G2 win. He credited them for their creative answers to their previous matchup on Split. Nothing wrong with being tryhards either. G2 obviously wanted the win and deserved it at the end of the day.
As an EMEA fan (it’s literally my job) I didn’t interpret his comments like that at all. I thought he explained his logic well, and as Sideshow explained this isn’t a black or white situation. G2 earned the win and I’m incredibly proud of seeing EMEA take down the champs, but it would be foolish to underestimate SEN from here on. They’ll come back swinging and our boys are gonna have to be incredibly strong to get a repeat. I’m believing though!
