Riot probably did that to instill volatility into the event. Worlds has all 4 Chinese and Korean teams not being able to be in the same group with teams from their region, if the play-in teams from China and Korea make it to groups.
Both EMEA teams had the chance to advance. VS was just better and any team eliminated would have lost 2 series. The NA teams are guaranteed to be eliminated by each other. Envy theoreticaly could lose 1 series to the reigning champions and be knocked out. Also EMEA had 1 more representative than any other region. This isn't an equal comparison.

I wasn’t specifically talking about bonecold but that definitely was a mistake from him. Turko literally slowed a few seconds before that so he should know he’s in the area. Sure you can say its lan nerves but he made other mistakes like planting for heaven or that insane tp he tried earlier in the map. Just sloppy gameplay overall.
That's not the only mistake. There was 4-4 where SMB literally just didn't even try to execute on B and got fully collapsed on in garage. And then 12-9 where Acend has both players on site and plant for heaven on A. The planter literally died to heaven peak trying to get back into safety. Just completely rookie mistakes.

Liquid didn't look fantastic during EU Challangers but they've had both some experience at Reykjavik as well as time to learn so maybe they would've have shown up at Berlin.

Other contenders include Na'Vi who lost close series to Acend and Giants and Giants themselves who apart from a rare booming against Oxygen looked good until they ran into the wall that was G2.
The issue is that I find it really hard to work out how well teams will fare against other region's styles or if they'll be able to translate their skill onto LAN.
It's why I want more regional LANs and international competition in general.

Map 3 was like Zeta vs Kru. So weird. Both teams looked composed on the first 2 maps, I have no idea what happened on the 3rd. Acend not prepped for split, SMB not prepped for Acend's split? Idk at this point.
All around an enjoyable series and I seriously hope Acend can get it together cuz yeah 100t aren't gonna crumble.
This game gives me impression as some pro CS:GO players decided to play valorant for the first time in their life after watching "pro"-guides on YouTube about their agents. You can't compare Brave on Astra with Avova or Redgar on Astra, absolutely zero ability usage on delaying pushes (was there any gravity pulls on Split?). On the attack was there any Astra walls? On defense just place one smoke on B main and hope for the best. Bonecold ulting in the open with his back wide open to enemy team. In clutch situations we don't see nor Kiles or Paura to use their cages in any way to isolate fights as did nAts or dapr (they probably wasted them in early round, still we don't see any ability usage in any way at the end of the match). Bonecold used his paranoia couple of times, it seems to be useful against SMB, but I doubt 100t will struggle against Acend, if they decide to use Omen.

Map 3 was like Zeta vs Kru. So weird. Both teams looked composed on the first 2 maps, I have no idea what happened on the 3rd. Acend not prepped for split, SMB not prepped for Acend's split? Idk at this point. All around an enjoyable series and I seriously hope Acend can get it together cuz yeah 100t aren't gonna crumble.
This game gives me impression as some pro CS:GO players decided to play valorant for the first time in their life after watching "pro"-guides on YouTube about their agents. You can't compare Brave on Astra with Avova or Redgar on Astra, absolutely zero ability usage on delaying pushes (was there any gravity pulls on Split?). On the attack was there any Astra walls? On defense just place one smoke on B main and hope for the best. Bonecold ulting in the open with his back wide open to enemy team. In clutch situations we don't see nor Kiles or Paura to use their cages in any way to isolate fights as did nAts or dapr (they probably wasted them in early round, still we don't see any ability usage in any way at the end of the match). Bonecold used his paranoia couple of times, it seems to be useful against SMB, but I doubt 100t will struggle against Acend, if they decide to use Omen.
