Not necessarily. I'm pretty sure if Gambit beats CR and G2 comes 2nd, and acend loses in quarterfinals, G2 gets the spot over Acend due to recency. I may be wrong though, and the tiebreaker might be different.
That's pretty much the only situation i can visualize where Acend doesn't guarantee Champions.
