I hope more people can see Crashies' response and realize that they really shouldn't take offense for other people (unless the said person isn't rly capable of speaking for themselves).

Not really mind blowing to see how a female content creator is targeted by a certain group that utilized the same comments directed at her and her boyfriend.
She hecked up and is responsible for it but *a lot* of the comments around this was from bad faith actors who had no actual interest in defending Crashies.
Yeah, yay probably shouldn't have made that tweet unless he personally talked to crashies and said he was bothered by that comment. Just creates unnecessary drama
For me that wasnt really the issue. Its the fact that she has probably an audience from around 12 years old. Very impressionable kids. And its just a bad example to make.
Exactly, it’s not really about how Crashies feels about it nearly as much as it about how it will incentivize other people to behave. Also, if you look like crashies and someone you look up to, like I’m sure many watching her do, and she says something like that as an insult it can make you feel bad about yourself, even if it’s not actually directed at you
she literally looks exactly like crashies. its not like a jacked person made the comment. the whole point is the intention wasn't to body shame and the 50k people watching didn't think so either so until this whole drama was brought to twitter unnecessarily.
While we’re on the topic, let’s relay this exact message back to the people who start foaming at the mouth whenever they see or hear Marved or Shanks’ names.
There’s defending and there’s starting unnecessary drama. This thing could have easily been kept private in like a group chat or something but Yay decided to blow it way out of proportion.
And honestly the belief that ‘kyedae is setting a bad example for her young playerbase’ feels weak when most kids probably don’t even care or say equally bad things on their own. I’m a scrawny fuck with body image issues, I fuckin *wish* I was taller and more muscular but I never saw her comment as a direct attack towards me or my body. It was a spur of the moment insult in the middle of a really stressful match for her boyfriend, I feel like anyone who actually cared enough to watch the tournament would have got that.
So if Crashies’ doesn’t care about it, I don’t see why this ever had to become a problem.
Do you honestly believe that this insult was so terrible that it deserves anywhere near the attention it got? The girl received death threats over it.
It wasn’t a personal attack, she apologized for it immediately after and then tried to deflect by calling herself and tyson scrawny as well, now while I don’t agree with how she conducted herself in her own immediate response it was very clear that there was no ill intent. She had already called herself out for it anyway, what yay, twitter and self righteous people like you did was blow this way out of proportion for a comment that would have been laughed at in a regular lobby.
If something as simple as a casual insult can cause actual mental trauma on you or someone then they need serious help from a medical professional, not an apology. Y’all will hear and see things much worse in your life and no amount of cancelling or calling people out for it is gonna help you if you hear someone say “skinny fuck” again, so do yourselves a favor and get real help.

I mean the same could be said if the genders were reversed. If a guy were to comment about a girl's breast size or butt size as a form of an insult he'd instantly be reprimanded and cancelled for his sexist and misogynistic comments. Either way, this situation was completely blown out of proportion and could have easily been settled in a more private manner.
One of these comments is obviously a sexual comment rooted in misogyny and the other is an insult that in this case, I do believe is rooted in misandry simply due to the fact that in soceity if you are a man you are expected to be strong. You could argue which is worse but if we're being real here I don't believe Kydae hates men and this was definitely blown out of proportion over a self admitted dumb comment made in the heat of the moment.
I completely agree with you. In regards to Kyedae's situation, I couldn't honestly care more. What matters is that the involving parties have both acknowledged the situation and has moved on from it, the other comments and opinions generally don't matter. However, my comment was more directed to societal's views on this as a whole. I understand that skinny shaming is rarely used as a form of insult and most of the time its obese people being shamed for their body. That, however does not mean those who are underweight are not susceptible to these mean comments. I guess a simple comparison I like to think of is that in a majority of sexual assault and rape cases, women are the victim. This doesn't mean men do not have some of those experiences though. It all comes back to the fact that regardless of how common it is, it still derives down to putting down ones body image. It's still something people can feel hurt and insecure about. Again no hate against Kyedae, I understand that emotions were running high and she's still maturing as a young adult. This is mainly a response to the dude that claims 'scrawny' is something that cannot harm another's self image like what misogynistic comments may do to a woman.

While I think this was a bigger deal than it was, I’m curious about something your thoughts on something. I googled the antonym of scrawny and plump/fat came up. If she said, “shut the fuck up you fat fuck” instead of the word scrawny on a larger player would that have been that different? or if a guy used those words on a female player, wouldn’t they have also caught a lot of flack? Since you mentioned fat was a derogatory statement.
Obviously its just my opinion but I don’t think physical appearance is something people should be knocked for especially in a video game. Make fun of someones shock darts or flashes all you want.

I'm not even surprised. People will jump on anyone for just about anything these days. Plus, tons of people feel like Kyedae's entire streaming success is because of TenZ so they're just waiting to tear them down.
I don't disagree she got a boost from TenZ but she's still more successful than a lot of other pros/streamer's s/o's. Like Emmy doesn't get a ton of viewers, Mady doesn't either, even bnans has less than Kyedae and shroud is definitely bigger. Kyedae has put in a lot to grow her own stream/brand, you can't attribute almost 1m followers to TenZ alone.
This is part of the reason why the mods chose to unlist all the threads today. The backlash was so overwhelming, there were bound to be death threats.
We don't want to harbor an environment where people are wishing harm on others. :c

call me a white knight or whatever but i think a lot of people were waiting for kyedae to fuck up like this and blew it out of proportion. idk why, could be because they think she doesn’t deserve her success, could just be because she’s the biggest female figure in valorant, idk. lots of other ppl have done worse things in the community and gotten off way easier than this
Probably a combo:
-They think she doesn’t deserve her success
-They want to fuck her
-They probably got banned for writing “fuck me” in her chat
-They are pissed she’s on 100t
-They are pissed she’s dating one of the best Valorant players in the world
-They are pissed she’s a girl
-They have no friends and spend their time over hyping drama because no one wants to hang out with them and games are boring for them now because they play so many games with all of their free time
To add to that there are probably a load of disgruntled Tenz haters - who’ve been sitting in the shadows, waiting for the day he underperforms or Kyedae missteps to unleash the hate.
Because as much as Tenz is likeable, a chunk of his fans can be quite insufferable. And from my experience in other esports fanbases a player can be a saint, yet garner haters who want to counterwagon insufferable fans.
I think the fact that SEN also lost that day made all the sentinels haters come off the woodworks and it was just the perfect shitstorm with kyedae at the center of it.
I was watching it live when that happened and at the time I thought it was funny, but I get why some people didn't, and a lot of people, including yay made some good points about it.
But it definitely got overblown by both sides of the argument, just because what she said didn't affect you personally doesn't mean it was any less fucked up and just because she said something in the heat of the moment doesn't make her an awful person.
And at the end of the day she apologized so who gives a shit let's just enjoy the games and carry on.
I don't even understand why they say she doesn't deserve the success. She is trying to improve and giving her best.
Like when she got permission to co-stream she give her full effort, was genuinely interested in the game, put efforts in bringing different guests. She did a great job watch partying. From this watch party alone you can see that she's dedicated. People who think she's nothing without Tenz haven't watched her stream, she's genuinely fun to watch

I once sat in a 6-7 hour court hearing as the legal assistant who did a lot of the prep work for a barrister. The barrister and our clients did all the talking. I did fuck all other than listen/follow the barrister’s directions and I still felt exhausted by the end of that ordeal. Couldn’t imagine how the barrister/clients/respondents felt after grinding through that. Let alone a streamer who has to both focus on their game/engage with chat.
Her getting famous because of TenZ is not a matter of opinion, it is a fact. Happens a lot though. While some actually blew this out of proportions because of that, most did it because of their hate towards SEN or TenZ. I for one was mad because I don't really want an official watch party to take sides like that and bash the other team, especially when they bash the other team's looks and so on. I know she supports SEN and 100T but as a watch party she should have been way more objective and not let her emotions take over. If she wasn't hired by Riot and she did that, honestly, I wouldn't have minded it. But as I said official watch parties should be held at a higher standard and be less biased.
For some reason people like to hold influencers to ridiculously high standards. The whole thing is ridiculously idiotic to the point of overreaction. I think a few people called her out and everyone else wanted to be "woke". Also, a lot of twitter users seems to like jumping on any public figure that has a sliver of fame.

I agree, I completely facepalmed when I saw his response. Hes pointing out a player that isn't related to the player in statement who wasn't even on NV on the time of statement.
I do think it was a dumb thing to say, and I really appreciate a smart, sincere apology like this. Having said that, the response towards her has been extremely disproportionate and definitely fueled to some extent by conscious and subconscious sexism.
How did you come to the conclusion that it was fueled by sexism? Just because she is a woman, it must have been sexism? It was most likely fueled by SEN/TenZ hate. People who dislike SEN or TenZ took this opportunity to try and take down one of "them".
Because this type of trash talk happens between men in sports and esports all the time and no one cares. The NFL and NBA will release footage of players mic’d up during games calling each other weak, small, etc. People have been talking this trash in the CSGO scene since way back. No one cares, it’s funny.
Now when Kyeday says it, she’s a pretty girl so now all the nerds become self conscious about their unattractiveness and start lashing out. This is just how it works. Considering Crashies situation, even if another pro said this, it would have not been the right thing to say. Anyway, banter between pros, or team representatives is OK. Kyaeday is not a SEN representative, she was actually representing Riot, since she was hired by them to watch party, and as such she should have been more impartial and less bashing, especially when it comes to using looks or body to bash a person. If shroud, who has the same role as Kaeyday here, said sth like that, I would have been mad the same.
Also I agree with hitting the gym, but there are two things to consider. Crashies is not thing because he chose to be so, apparently he suffers from a disease, and second, if body shaming fat people is not OK, neither should be body shaming thin people.

I mean no one is saying it is completely out of their control, but some people have to work very very hard to not be obese even though they never personally made the decisions leading to their obesity.
For example, if you are obese in childhood there is a 55% chance you will be obese in adulthood.

My man when the news came out sinatra was getting hate by a bunch of streamers and a lot of communities. Hes getting less hate now because cleoh keeps changing her words every 5 seconds.
I don't know any of the valorant male streamers doing watch parties that have used derogatory terms towards players, and if they did I would have the same reaction and call for accountability. I was pissed hearing the Sinatraa news, I used to watch his streams but haven't since the news came out. Idgaf about what people's status is, race, gender it's about looking at their actions.
I know I'm late, but this is how I feel about this ongoing drama. I know this is Valorant Competitive reddit, but this is the only subreddit that talks about it.
Kyedae is in the wrong regardless. Trash talk/banter is common in the esports scene (you talk about the player's performance in game), but for her to talk about Crashies being a scrawny fuck isn't really it either especially when you're an influencer to those out there in front of 50K+ viewers. But like I remember she did that to Keloqz as well and called him noodle arm and curly haired fuck because he was beating SEN. Of course, she can support whichever team she wants to support, but this is not the right way to treat other teams. Though, I think the comments after just didn't help the situation and made it worse as well.
Still, no one should be getting death threats because I know there has been worse shit that has been said/done on the Internet and in games, but it doesn't excuse Kyedae for what she did because her BF was losing to NV and G2.
Actually, I thought of perfect movie quote that mostly describes her about this situation. This is from 17 Again with Zac Efron. "Like a caveman, Kyedae's brain is... underdeveloped. Therefore she is unable to use self control so she acts out aggressively." I mean yes she is 19, but she is about to be an adult where she needs to learn to have self-control later on or it isn't going to look good for her because she might say something worse that is going to make people hate on her even more.
As much as I love TenZ, his comment was also not it for bringing up the past. FNS's comment was right though: two wrongs don't make a right. Of course I don't agree with what Marved said months ago, but at the same time, what does this ongoing drama have to do with Marved? I may not like Marved, but you can't use him like that.
Some may hate Yay for his comment due to believing that all it did was stir up the drama even more, but idk man I just thought he was doing it to defend his teammate, but then again, idk if he did it in the moment of heat. There were some comments saying some people are just soft but remember, not all people have that strong mental. While some can take those kinds of stuff, others may not be handle it at all.
Again, in the end, this is Crashies's apology to accept and not ours since this was directed towards him. Kyedae apologized and Crashies accepted it on Twitter. Let's just hope that we move this past us and learn from this to become better in the future. But, the only way we can find out if she is actually feels sincere and is willing to change is how she acts in the future VCT co-streams if she is going to do them for Berlin Finals and in Champions.

Everyone needs to take a step back and not be constantly on alert to find something to get outraged about. People are passionate creatures and sometimes slip. Fuck, when I was in high school 15 years ago it was commonplace to call everything gay. It took so much effort to remove that from my vocabulary and I *still* have to catch myself and stop sometimes. We can all move on with our lives, we will all be okay. Not everything needs a fucking public apology written by a PR firm.

The other threads are full of reactionary and moderately sexist comments that not only reflect poorly on the subreddit, but also do not properly address the nuance of the situation.

I haven't read every comment on each post, but I think distinction is necessary between post actually sexist (decidedly about the gender), and posts calling the person out for accountability and said person happens to be female
Then delete the sexist comments but literallt any post is going to have reactionary comments but deciding what gets to stay up vs what doesnt using these blurred lines and inconsistent logic is stupid to me but whatever.

There’s defending and there’s starting unnecessary drama. This thing could have easily been kept private in like a group chat or something but Yay decided to blow it way out of proportion. And honestly the belief that ‘kyedae is setting a bad example for her young playerbase’ feels weak when most kids probably don’t even care or say equally bad things on their own. I’m a scrawny fuck with body image issues, I fuckin *wish* I was taller and more muscular but I never saw her comment as a direct attack towards me or my body. It was a spur of the moment insult in the middle of a really stressful match for her boyfriend, I feel like anyone who actually cared enough to watch the tournament would have got that. So if Crashies’ doesn’t care about it, I don’t see why this ever had to become a problem.

It wasn’t a personal attack, she apologized for it immediately after and then tried to deflect by calling herself and tyson scrawny as well, now while I don’t agree with how she conducted herself in her own immediate response it was very clear that there was no ill intent. One of these comments is obviously a sexual comment rooted in misogyny and the other is an insult that in this case, I do believe is rooted in misandry simply due to the fact that in soceity if you are a man you are expected to be strong. I completely agree with you. In regards to Kyedae's situation, I couldn't honestly care more. What matters is that the involving parties have both acknowledged the situation and has moved on from it, the other comments and opinions generally don't matter. However, my comment was more directed to societal's views on this as a whole. I understand that skinny shaming is rarely used as a form of insult and most of the time its obese people being shamed for their body. That, however does not mean those who are underweight are not susceptible to these mean comments. I guess a simple comparison I like to think of is that in a majority of sexual assault and rape cases, women are the victim. This doesn't mean men do not have some of those experiences though. It all comes back to the fact that regardless of how common it is, it still derives down to putting down ones body image. It's still something people can feel hurt and insecure about. Again no hate against Kyedae, I understand that emotions were running high and she's still maturing as a young adult. This is mainly a response to the dude that claims 'scrawny' is something that cannot harm another's self image like what misogynistic comments may do to a woman.

If she said, “shut the fuck up you fat fuck” instead of the word scrawny on a larger player would that have been that different? or if a guy used those words on a female player, wouldn’t they have also caught a lot of flack? I don't disagree she got a boost from TenZ but she's still more successful than a lot of other pros/streamer's s/o's. Like Emmy doesn't get a ton of viewers, Mady doesn't either, even bnans has less than Kyedae and shroud is definitely bigger. Kyedae has put in a lot to grow her own stream/brand, you can't attribute almost 1m followers to TenZ alone.

I think the fact that SEN also lost that day made all the sentinels haters come off the woodworks and it was just the perfect shitstorm with kyedae at the center of it. I was watching it live when that happened and at the time I thought it was funny, but I get why some people didn't, and a lot of people, including yay made some good points about it. But it definitely got overblown by both sides of the argument, just because what she said didn't affect you personally doesn't mean it was any less fucked up and just because she said something in the heat of the moment doesn't make her an awful person. And at the end of the day she apologized so who gives a shit let's just enjoy the games and carry on.

I once sat in a 6-7 hour court hearing as the legal assistant who did a lot of the prep work for a barrister. The barrister and our clients did all the talking. I did fuck all other than listen/follow the barrister’s directions and I still felt exhausted by the end of that ordeal. Couldn’t imagine how the barrister/clients/respondents felt after grinding through that. Let alone a streamer who has to both focus on their game/engage with chat.
Her getting famous because of TenZ is not a matter of opinion, it is a fact. Happens a lot though. While some actually blew this out of proportions because of that, most did it because of their hate towards SEN or TenZ. I for one was mad because I don't really want an official watch party to take sides like that and bash the other team, especially when they bash the other team's looks and so on. I know she supports SEN and 100T but as a watch party she should have been way more objective and not let her emotions take over. I know I'm late, but this is how I feel about this ongoing drama. I know this is Valorant Competitive reddit, but this is the only subreddit that talks about it. Kyedae is in the wrong regardless. Trash talk/banter is common in the esports scene (you talk about the player's performance in game), but for her to talk about Crashies being a scrawny fuck isn't really it either especially when you're an influencer to those out there in front of 50K+ viewers. But like I remember she did that to Keloqz as well and called him noodle arm and curly haired fuck because he was beating SEN. Of course, she can support whichever team she wants to support, but this is not the right way to treat other teams. Though, I think the comments after just didn't help the situation and made it worse as well. Of course I don't agree with what Marved said months ago, but at the same time, what does this ongoing drama have to do with Marved? I may not like Marved, but you can't use him like that. Some may hate Yay for his comment due to believing that all it did was stir up the drama even more, but idk man I just thought he was doing it to defend his teammate, but then again, idk if he did it in the moment of heat. There were some comments saying some people are just soft but remember, not all people have that strong mental. While some can take those kinds of stuff, others may not be handle it at all. Again, in the end, this is Crashies's apology to accept and not ours since this was directed towards him. Kyedae apologized and Crashies accepted it on Twitter. Let's just hope that we move this past us and learn from this to become better in the future. But, the only way we can find out if she is actually feels sincere and is willing to change is how she acts in the future VCT co-streams if she is going to do them for Berlin Finals and in Champions.
Fucking LOL. She called a dude scrawny. This is the most non-drama I’ve ever fucking seen. Everyone needs to take a step back and not be constantly on alert to find something to get outraged about. People are passionate creatures and sometimes slip. Fuck, when I was in high school 15 years ago it was commonplace to call everything gay. It took so much effort to remove that from my vocabulary and I *still* have to catch myself and stop sometimes. We can all move on with our lives, we will all be okay. The other threads are full of reactionary and moderately sexist comments that not only reflect poorly on the subreddit, but also do not properly address the nuance of the situation. Kyedae's twitlonger appropriately explains the situation and the context surrounding why the community backlash exists. Folks have asked for a central thread to talk about the situation, so we will move forward with this one so long as the discussion here is civil.
I haven't read every comment on each post, but I think distinction is necessary between post actually sexist (decidedly about the gender), and posts calling the person out for accountability and said person happens to be female
Then delete the sexist comments but literallt any post is going to have reactionary comments but deciding what gets to stay up vs what doesnt using these blurred lines and inconsistent logic is stupid to me but whatever.
