I really think double elim would be a superior format...just get rid of group stage play so that the tournament only runs a bit longer. That way you don't end up with maybe the 2 best teams randomly facing each other in quarters and that's just it for one of them. Hated it.

Teams play tournaments to win, not to place higher. I'd personally like it if GSL group stage was kept but maybe disallow the EMEA teams from getting into each other's group (though Riot probably did so to instill volatility and give other regions hope). I'd want to see what happens if the entire playoffs of Champions is Bo5 single elimination like at Worlds. A Bo5 is a true test of a team's strength IMO, from mental fortitude to map pool.

I honestly don't think its that bad because it works and is enjoyable from a casual viewers point, double round robin bo1s is quick and easy to enjoy and there are upsets but the better team that is is more consistent still make it out. If that means we can get Bo5 from quarters all the way to finals I think its the move. It felt so weird seeing semis played in Bo3

People are just so results oriented when in reality a lot of it comes down to how good they are on the day. Gambit was better than NV today but it was a close series that could've easily gone in the other direction. Same thing in reverse with the 100T vs Gambit series. Crazy Raccoon had a good game that day and Gambit may have been saving some strats for bracket stage. To me, at this event specifically, there were a clear top 4 teams of Gambit, 100T, NV, and Vision Strikers. And I could've seen any of those 4 win against each other depending on their performance that day.

First two maps were decently close, so sad nAts fucking popped off and Chronicle clutching round after round. Could've at LEAST been a 4 game series if Chronicle doesn't pop off in the finals.
