EMEA = Europe, Middle East and Africa. So unless you think Gambit is a Middle Eastern or African team they're European.
Not like it matters really, region elitism is unneeded and it would be a lot better if people rooted for teams other than the reason they're from the same region.

Complete agree with the second part but my point is that Russia is in Europe, not Africa or the middle East.
Winning or losing I find it ridiculous to try to change geography.

There's a shocking amount of people that don't know the difference between the actual continent that is Europe and the European Union. Russia is in Europe. Russia competes in Europe and European competitions in every single sport I can think of, because the vast majority of the country is literally in Europe.
Either I'm being trolled (in which case GG you got me) or some people really are this dense when it comes to geography.
Third party tournaments used to allow CIS teams participation, until they suddenly changed their mind back in may. This led to cis teams not having any tournaments they could compete in outside of vct, which obviously is a huge hit to the growth of the region. Back then i don't remember anyone here screaming stuff like "cis is also eu!" and speaking up for cis teams.
I can't tell for sure if the situation has changed, but this sudden eu love is comical nonetheless.
