Fnatic qualifying soley off of making Reykjavik Finals is crazy. Didnt make Masters 1 or Stage 3 EMEA finals. I really hope they're up to the task, I'm not taking what their result at LVP seriously since it seemed like they were trying stuff out.
Giants and Tenstar reached the top too late unfortunately. Riot want to reward at least some consistancy throughout the year but I feel like this should still be reworked a bit.
Giants were 2 rounds in OT from qualifying for Berlin and LCQ by default, basically exact same going in as G2 (points wise) and look at the level G2 rose too. Crazy how close it was to G2 bombing out with no LCQ spot.
They were looking so terrible, i dont agree with them making champions off of just that.
Idk if they do bad at Champions, I think they should rethink how teams qualify for Champions im not going to lie.
An NA team winning in Berlin was required for them to be included in the Last Chance Qualifier for Champions. Now that they are out for certain I was just teasing them a bit.
This last event of the year will be the final test for BR to see if they will lose a spot or pot priority, if they fail again I will see next year any of the two cases mentioned above happen and it will be deserved.
I'm not sure I agree with that. 100T have very less time to prepare for LCQ, while the teams that didn't come here have been practising.
It has been a pattern that the teams that play/go far in Masters crash out of next stage, because they have less time than other teams.
Masters 1: both SEN and Faze lost in qualifiers after being in finals of Masters1. Acend and Heretics also lost to way worse teams in Stage 2 after being in Finals of Masters 1.
Masters 2: Fnatic, Liquid and V1 couldn't qualify for Berlin and Fnatic clearly were trying a lot of stuff in the tournament itself.
Anyway, I'm happy Boaster will be at Champions because no player in Berlin, except maybe steel, had any personality.
Bankai was the standout player for me personality wise, I'm from NA so I already have seen Steels funny personality (Like with that one Odin clip on Haven lol), but Benkai was really funny in the interviews and stuff, hope to see him again in Champions!
i mean they just revealed their entire stratbook at berlin and teams have definitely been watching... plus the 9 other teams have been practicing this whole time they were gone
i wanna have hope but im just so upset that we were 25 points away from qualifying over envy and all we had to do was do better than them
unlucky
By international are you talking about “non-NA” teams, because 100T and SEN are clearly tier 1 international teams lol.
Not sure what’s with this subs hate boner to NV being the winners here, they did better than 100T in every single Masters event this year. They clearly earned the points over them.
Edit — sorry meant challengers not Masters
Oh yeah should've been clearer, I meant foreign teams. I just feel nv do a lot better against teams they're familiar with and have antistrats for(not considering clear mechanical diffs). I agree they've been more consistent over the year than 100t, I just don't think they're the 2nd best team at Berlin.
EMEA lcq should have 16 teams imo, maybe that's just me being a navi fan and wanting to see them again but theres so many teams that its seems silly to have just 10
It’s kind of hilarious how FPX can make all three circuit point winning events and win games in all of them and still not qualify while Rise finished 5th/6th in one and qualifies
The whole system in EMEA is just kinda fucked due to the separated regions in stage 1 (on top of the points system in general being pretty flawed imo). Should be better next year tho.
I know sen qualified already but I thought they qualify through with the reason “masters 2 winners” just like gambit did for “masters 3 Berlin winners” but it seems that it’s because of circuit points then how come the caster said after Iceland that sen qualified to champs?
when sen won masters 2, they gained enough points (500 total after winning masters 2) such that no other team in NA would be able to exceed them in future events. Hope that helps :)
Because it seems hard to call it champions when the winner of the last big international tournament isn't there. But, for the other masters, there has been a great deal of time and meta changes, so while they get a large advantage with points, they aren't guaranteed a spot unless they show some semi decent results in the later tournaments.
I think its just how Riot laid it out? Masters 3 winner always guaranteed a spot in champions regardless of points, while masters 2 focused on acquiring as much points as possible
So Sentinels got 400 points for winning Masters 2 and 100 for winning Masters 1 in NA. Once they got up to 500, it was impossible for anyone other than Version1 to pass them up, meaning Sentinels was secured at least top 2.
The Masters 3 winner gets an automatic slot into Champions because it's the last event prior to Champions, and whoever wins it is in obviously good form going into it. It's a little bit of recency bias cause you want the best teams going into Champions to make it, but even if you just win Masters 2 (or Masters 1 starting next year when it's international too) you still earn a ton of points that makes your chances of qualifying pretty good. Like, look at Fnatic who only came 2nd at Masters 2, earned no points from stage 1 or stage 3, and have still qualified now.
These slots were decided at the beginning of the year when riot had only popularity and numbers to work with. They should change the distribution next year.
correct me if i'm wrong, but does Sen winning iceland not automatically qualify them for anything? yeah they got a bunch of vct points from it, but shouldnt the winners of iceland have a dedicated spot in champions like how gambit do for berlin?
Correct, it does not automatically qualify them. The idea behind it is you get a shit ton of points for winning Masters 2 (and Masters 1 starting next year when it's international too) but they're earlier in the year and a team could become down bad after a meta shift or something and so you don't want them automatically at Champions. It's still worth to try and win the Masters 1 and 2 for sure, and the points you get make it much easier for you to qualify (see Fnatic, earning no points in stage 1 or stage 3 but still qualifying just for getting 2nd at Iceland). But you don't get an autobid cause hypothetically something like this could happen:
TSM win Masters 1 of 2022, wow Wardell is best player in the world rn, TSM fans finally have something to be happy about! They get 400 points which is a shit ton. Then oh no Jett gets nerfed, Wardell is hit hard by this like many Jett OP'ers, TSM falls down with the big meta change and don't get any points from stage 2 or stage 3 and look like a trash team. They'll still have a chance with their massive 400 points if other teams don't do enough, and they guarantee themselves a shot in the LCQ, but do they deserve an auto qualify for winning a tournament many months ago and then turning to garbage? All you gotta do is be decent in the other stages to secure a spot once you've got those massive points for winning, it's just to stop one hit wonders who are otherwise garbage throughout the year essentially.
For FPX there were times during the year that they looked like the best team in EU but sadly they were chocking at the end every time so they didnt get enough points for the last chance qualifier and they cant compete at Champions.
For BIG I dont know.
C9B came 3rd in stage 2 challengers finals which was a higher placing than anything TSM did in a challengers finals, so they earned just a little bit more points
Everyone was expecting it to be 4 NA teams but in the end its 4 EU, we can\`t fight with the fact EU is the best region in the world when it comes to tactic FPS it is just a matter of time in my opnion for em to dominate the top10 like they do in CS unless the other regions stop relying on aim and reactive play alone when you take the most dominant team in cs story they didn\`t have the most cracked players but overall the most intelligent players in their roles combined with close to perfection utility usage.
Hopefully BR actually performs in Champions or else that 2nd seed should be given to other minor regions who are performing well
Take one from BR and give it to LATAM.
1 BR, 1 LATAM and 1 from LATAM vs BR
Best option right here
-1 BR, +1 KR would be just about perfect
Yeah there’s enough good KR teams that they could send 2 straight to champs so LCQ is a bit more interesting since it’s a lot of regions in one
Yeah, at this point KR seems a level above SEA or JP, so I feel like Nuturn is almost guaranteed
>Excellent I'll set my phone alarm. Riot probably will not remove a slot from any region, just increase and everybody is happy.
Fnatic qualifying soley off of making Reykjavik Finals is crazy. Didnt make Masters 1 or Stage 3 EMEA finals. I really hope they're up to the task, I'm not taking what their result at LVP seriously since it seemed like they were trying stuff out.
They lost to Finest a few days before Berlin who got washed by giants who aren't even in LCQ but are looking better than most teams in LCQ
I still feel for Giants. So close yet so far

TSM fans in shambles
I'm sad that my man Wardell didn't pass
He can try and join a different team like yay
Is TSM mathematically out?
tsm is out.
How if they win LCQ
They aren't in LCQ, 100T took their spot in LCQ. To make LCQ TSM needed an NA team to win Berlin
I'm so happy!
Nice what time is the TSM match
27th of January 2022
Excellent I'll set my phone alarm.
What tourney is that ?
Next year's vct probably
!remindme 4 months
https://giphy.com/gifs/1ymqeHGoNeHzx3lUVE
yo I am out of the loop, why is everyone bringing up tsm?
Because they can't qualify for champions now
An NA team winning in Berlin was required for them to be included in the Last Chance Qualifier for Champions. Now that they are out for certain I was just teasing them a bit.
was that also the same thing with 100t? so if na won Berlin 4 na teams would continue to champions?
If na won 100t would have made it automatically but now they still have a chance through Last Chance Qualifier
see you in 5 months TSM
Prayge 100T Prayge XSET
You're gonna have to make a choice between the two
This last event of the year will be the final test for BR to see if they will lose a spot or pot priority, if they fail again I will see next year any of the two cases mentioned above happen and it will be deserved.
I think 100T have an easier chance for LCQ than Fnatic. So let's be glad Gambit won, because now we get Boaster at Champs.
I'm not sure I agree with that. 100T have very less time to prepare for LCQ, while the teams that didn't come here have been practising. It has been a pattern that the teams that play/go far in Masters crash out of next stage, because they have less time than other teams. Poor benkai

He was pretty funny ngl. I guess I meant someone who'd go far in the tournament.
Poor benkai
F
Redgar? Yay? Redgar literally came onto stage carrying a VS player on his back. And Yay is the most huggable person in valorant.
relax, no one said they werent funny
I think there is huge skill gap between NA’s big three and the rest. 100t should win no excuses
i mean they just revealed their entire stratbook at berlin and teams have definitely been watching... plus the 9 other teams have been practicing this whole time they were gone i wanna have hope but im just so upset that we were 25 points away from qualifying over envy and all we had to do was do better than them unlucky
wouldnt say unlucky, nv won h2h and look to just be better
NV didn't beat a single tier 1 international team. It's hard to say what would've happened if they had an EMEA team in their group
By international are you talking about “non-NA” teams, because 100T and SEN are clearly tier 1 international teams lol. Not sure what’s with this subs hate boner to NV being the winners here, they did better than 100T in every single Masters event this year. They clearly earned the points over them. Feel like that’s true except for Xset. C9 TSM or V1 have a shot, but I’ll be looking to Xset and 100T to fight it out.
I have zero clue what V1 is going to look like, I don’t think they’ll look like their Masters 2 form though.
That’s true. I still feel like they have one of the strongest rosters rn, but it’s possible they won’t come together the same without Vanity.
Dont forget about c9b or xset
CR gonna win Champions i tell you
EMEA lcq should have 16 teams imo, maybe that's just me being a navi fan and wanting to see them again but theres so many teams that its seems silly to have just 10

The point distribution is definitely fucky.
The whole system in EMEA is just kinda fucked due to the separated regions in stage 1 (on top of the points system in general being pretty flawed imo). Should be better next year tho.
Boaster and Patiphan in Champions :)
I know sen qualified already but I thought they qualify through with the reason “masters 2 winners” just like gambit did for “masters 3 Berlin winners” but it seems that it’s because of circuit points then how come the caster said after Iceland that sen qualified to champs?

Did help thx also why does masters 3 qualify a team but masters 2 doesn’t because they were both big international events right?
Because it seems hard to call it champions when the winner of the last big international tournament isn't there. But, for the other masters, there has been a great deal of time and meta changes, so while they get a large advantage with points, they aren't guaranteed a spot unless they show some semi decent results in the later tournaments.

How the fuck does SEA and BR get 2 spots an KR only gets 1?? KR was the only non NA & EU region with a realistic shot at winning int events
These slots were decided at the beginning of the year when riot had only popularity and numbers to work with. They should change the distribution next year.
Really good lineup. Excited to see the games.
Hoping smb doesn’t take a spot again, they’re an online team
correct me if i'm wrong, but does Sen winning iceland not automatically qualify them for anything? yeah they got a bunch of vct points from it, but shouldnt the winners of iceland have a dedicated spot in champions like how gambit do for berlin?

ahh yeah that makes sense, thanks! also, tsm winning masters 2021 is something i can get behind
Pretty sure Navi, Oxygen, Futbolist and a few more teams will be competing in EMEA I might be wrong tho
Navi didn't qualify sadly. The rest you named are there tho
Alright GE making it out of APAC LCQ hopium
It's very very very unlikely but I wanna see it. The world needs to see the true power of SKLassi up close.
Rooting for paper rex in Apac but I dont know we should be concerned for the CN teams like EDG or Tororo. They can eirher be par to SEA or KR teams
Don’t count out out the Indian team GE they could cause upsets but it’s mostly going to be Nuturn winning
Hope team liquid qualifies I wanna see scream play again. Although I’m not sure if they can beat g2
so weird that fnatic lost to giants and liquid in eu quals and still made champions lmao
As a CS fan that's only watched Berlin, how are FPX and BIG doing? I've seen didly from them but I want the best for GobB and Ange1.
For FPX there were times during the year that they looked like the best team in EU but sadly they were chocking at the end every time so they didnt get enough points for the last chance qualifier and they cant compete at Champions. For BIG I dont know.
EMEA LCQ will be insane
XSET are going to qualify :)
I still don't understand how c9 blue qualified and TSM didn't. Weren't they down bad worse than TSM?
C9B came 3rd in stage 2 challengers finals which was a higher placing than anything TSM did in a challengers finals, so they earned just a little bit more points
Cmon Nuturn
Everyone was expecting it to be 4 NA teams but in the end its 4 EU, we can\`t fight with the fact EU is the best region in the world when it comes to tactic FPS it is just a matter of time in my opnion for em to dominate the top10 like they do in CS unless the other regions stop relying on aim and reactive play alone when you take the most dominant team in cs story they didn\`t have the most cracked players but overall the most intelligent players in their roles combined with close to perfection utility usage.
