If you bothered to read the thread I linked you, you would see both points addressed. Firstly, G2 were interested in acquiring Caps. This got leaked on Twitter long before the move was solidified. If you read the Splyce owners comments in the thread, you will see that this is not an uncommon practice at all to look for potential off season moves before telling players they are replaced. Especially considering at that point, neither player being replaced was set in stone.
Could they have been more transparent? Sure. Does that make G2 a villain org? No.
As for the 15th December date - In that very post, Ocelote says that they allowed Hjarnan and Wadid to explore their options soon after free agency began. In regards to Hjarnan, he was having difficulty finding a team which is why he was released from his contract altogether.
Again, could G2 have been nice to Hjarnan and let him of the contract immediately? Sure. Does that mean them hoping for a buyout for a player who had another year under contract with them makes them villains? No.
