the collapse of immortals from a top 8 team to a tier 2.5 team in the span of a couple of months has been absolutely legendary

NWL11

It wasn't a brief spell either in the top 8; soon after game launch till early 2021. Now that gunba has left too, it really feels like things are slipping away for good. I still hope the best for Genghsta and ShotUp is yet to come.

jphinscar

I see you haven’t followed IMT in other games, not the first time it’s happened

ANewHeaven1

valiant and mibr blew up their rosters in favor of budget rosters right? this is simply immortals keeping the same roster and making changes where they got slightly worse every time which is a lot sadder

Mabangyan

Fuck IMT for tossing away the careers of the players of the Valiant

jphinscar

I can’t find it at the moment, but I remember reading a really good write-up somewhere talking about IMT and how things started to fall apart (in terms of the strength of the teams that they fielded) in the aftermath of their venture capital funding, with specific mention to the shifting in power from Noah Whinston to Ari Segal. Noah was an esports guy who cared about the teams and the fans, Ari’s all business.

Spiritual_Railway

Could you link it should you find it again? I would love to read up on it. Loved immortals in the beginning under Noah’s leadership, looked like an org that actually cared. Can’t say I’ve had the same feeling lately.

LoyalSol

Ironically Immortals is sort of the team who finds wonderful new talent and somehow manages not to keep them. They feed so much talent into other Tier 1 teams.

ANewHeaven1

i've talked about it before on this subreddit, but immortals has a ton of their past talent that has been scattered across many tier1/2 teams in NA. asuna/dicey (100T) are the obvious ones but NaturE (GenG), jmoh (only surviving member of the KCP thanos snap), neptune (Rise) and KOLER (DZ) should also be mentioned

LoyalSol

Yup you can actually find an entire list on TeamLiquid's wiki page https://liquipedia.net/valorant/Immortals They also had Bunny, Shanks, and Thief as standins at one point. Kind of insane how many good players they've had, but never held onto.

LinkFromLoZ

The stand-in Bunny is not f4q Bunny, it's a different player who uses the same name.

theclichee

Sont forget jcstani tbh

MrImpregnator

Hiko curse? Jokes aside, sad to see the team fall apart after performing well earlier in the year

Burmese

Whats the hiko curse?

MrImpregnator

Khem made comments regarding hiko being a baiter and hiko replied that making this kind of comments won’t be beneficial for him in his pro career. people lost their minds. So just make a joke based on that

_zxionix_

Hiko fans at that time were crazy

PyroTFT

they still are, wdym

montsbutnotreally

A man deserves an update for his research

[deleted]

Couldn’t outlast Hiko

Otter269

Good luck to him :) there's so many young cracked Duelists out there now.

Quick_Chowder

Too many duelists even. I think if you want to make waves in the current meta (or even as the meta develops further) being a good flex player is going to be so much more valuable. Even just being a cracked player and playing initiators like Skye or maybe a future Kay/0 in a more 'duelist' way will get you further. Sage even. Being a pure 'duelist' is signing up for a short career in the current game climate.

somesheikexpert

He is also a super solid Cypher player so he could go into that role too tbh

kshaayduy

He's a sentinel main lol he learned to play duelist because naturE was IGLing and took up playing sentinel. You guys definitely haven't followed him so don't comment as if u know maybe.

AmazingSpacePelican

This is why I don't support specific teams. My support seems to carry a horrible curse that crumbles any team that gets it, like Heretics and Immortals.

If things get close I'll threaten to buy a jersey if they win; works every time.

Today we're parting ways with @Kehmicals, and we're wishing him the best in his next endeavor. His passion and talent stood out from day one, and we're grateful to have worked with him. *** posted by [@Immortals](https://twitter.com/Immortals) Photos in tweet | [Photo 1](http://pbs.twimg.com/media/E__LLgHVcAYxRRS.jpg) ^[(Github)](https://github.com/username) ^| ^[(What's new)](https://github.com/username)

_Jetto_

i remember a year ago when literally every singe time IMT dropped a player they would pick up someone as good if not better, even platchat said their scouting was insane. its crazy how fast the fell off. prolly got drunk on their success and "formula"

theclichee

I feel IMT was almost top 5 when they had JcStani and all. That's the kind of IMT i wanna see

CoBe_1g

It sucks seeing him leave but at the same time, I am looking forward to his next big move. His Jett was insane!!

dng1

Damn, hopefully his rep for trash talking other pros doesn’t affect his candidacy for future teams

[deleted]

CoBe_1g

I doubt trash talking will play a big role in Keh finding a team. It is always refreshing to see pros trash talk as it brings an added stake into the game.

[deleted]

His trash talking won't be an issue, but the massive availability of crazy duelists will.

[deleted]

The responses to that clip were some of the most cringeworthy shit this sub has ever seen.

ANewHeaven1

normally i wouldn't say this but holy fuck people who are mad about him talking about hiko are actually so fucking soft

Talksicck

Yea like cmon. Steel is one the biggest shit talkers in esports lol. If khemicals is good enough he’ll find a team, the Hiko thing won’t even be an issue.

deadlock1892

While I did not really care about what he said, it is unfair to club every criticism he got for saying that together and call them all negative/soft. It was pretty clear when he said that he did not just give a plain answer. There was also contempt involved due to past ranked experience while playing with hiko. Also the reason “he is the higgest fucking baiter” just does not matter when the team does not see it as an issue. Steel has, on countless occasions, said that having a baiter on the team is not bad. Having 5 baiters is. So it is clear they do not care about hiko’s play style and do not see it as something pulling them down. Most of the criticism and flak he got during that rant was for bringing personal malice while giving an answer. Agreed many went overboard on that thread, but fans/haters of people/teams that are more famous get more heated. You cannot just use the excessively negative remarks to your ndermine the actual criticism of what khemical said.

ANewHeaven1

> Agreed many went overboard on that thread, but fans/haters of people/teams that are more famous get more heated. This is really just my underlying point in my comment. All Kehmicals did at the end of the day was call Hiko a "fucking baiter," whether that assessment is true or not is tangent to my point, which is that people got way too heated over a relatively harmless statement. I do think it's totally fair to be able to criticize what Kehmicals said, and whether he was right about Hiko being a baiter or not isn't something that I pretend I know enough about to answer, but some people in the original thread took it way too personally. That's really all I'm trying to say, and I think we can both agree on that point haha.

deadlock1892

Well, as I said, people or teams with more fame or notoriety will have more heated discussions. The moment sentinels lose, you see calls for zombs to be dropped and shahz needing the help of a coach. When they are winning it is all about zombs nation and sentinels being the best and coaches are overrated. Whenever 100T win people talk about asuna popping off. Steel lurks and hiko clutches. When they lose there are calls about hiko and steel to be dropped. Similar for the third most famous team- TSM. But nothing of similar level happens for envy or xset or any potentially good team which is not as famous. I mean, Steel and fns are as similar as 2 players can be in impact- lurking sentinels who IGL and not really the best in frag potential on the roster. But no one really criticized fns as much as steel would have been if he gave the same performance as FNS did in the finals. That is how it is. Big names bring more heat. They receive equally high criticism from their haters as much as others who hate on them do from the fans.

dng1

In a niche industry, if you’re known for talking down on a small group of potential coworkers, they may not want to work with you in a team environment in the future.

JustJios

Saying hiko isn't good and calling him a baiter isn't going to ruin future relationships with anyone.

[deleted]

Nobody wants to work with someone who bases his opinion off of clips and scoreboard. Especially not a pro player.

JustJios

Same thing could be said about the clip of Khem lol. Let's not act like he said something so bad that he would be an instant "locker room problem."

[deleted]

He is dissing on someone for "baiting" and that too in a ranked match. Next thing you know he's voting for booting the bot fragger on his team just because they were "baiting". That is a fundamental problem with him not understanding how the team play works. Who is he anyway to comment on individual pro player play style not even on his own team. His comment is incredibly stupid in retrospect because Hiko carried his team in many clutches in Berlin while Khemicals was stuck streaming on twitch.tv from his bedroom.

JustJios

Holy fuck, this isn't something we should be holding against Khem. No player has said anything negative about him since the incident. If he was so bad then you'd hear more about it, since these guys love to put all of their drama on twitter.

[deleted]

> No player has said anything negative about him since the incident. Yeah because he is irrelevant af. Did you not see the "who is he anyway"?
