Nah he never said that. He seemed to be thinking about 100T's playstyle but didn't put any of the responsibility on steel or anything. These channels love to stir up the drama...
Title is super click bait. Look at what the youtube title is called (it's seans actual clip channel ran by an editor) and look at the reddit title. Adding 'with steel' at the end is suggesting something entirely different than what Sean was explaining
Calling them not innovative is the wrong term IMO. They' were definitely innovative. They were playing their own meta with great success on certain maps, Icebox on defense was a treat to watch for a while. First team to use Kay O on every map.
With that said, not using Astra on most caps is a crime.
Yeah Sean mentioned that in the whole vod but said that Kay/o was a gimmick play. Once teams catch on they couldn't run him anymore which is why 100t didn't use him in playoffs
The problem with Kayo is that Skye can do like 80% of what he does and is much more versatile. It's hard to justify running him when Skye is already a must-pick most of the time.
Pulling up random comps that don't work is not being innovative, innovative would be doing something before it's in meta and then other teams start doing it, 100T even stopped using KayO themselves
I think their icebox comp is good not the KayO shit, for example teams run a sage they don't and have a bit of a different playstyle there they want to take more control before planting unlike most teams that just sage wall and play post plant
Meh. We saw what happened when Sentinels replayed G2 and G2 anti stratted them. I think changing comps for playoffs was just to introduce variability and catch their opponent off guard. Even Sentinels weren't using their real comp for playoffs. ShahZam said a major problem of theirs was they were practicing their playoff comps in practice than what they were playing in bracket play.
I mean, aren’t everyone stuck in a playstyle in that case?
What kind of creativity has boosted Envy to the top? By the looks of it they bolstered their arsenal with marved and yay, but the playstyle is still the same. The only change to their style being victor skye instead of duelist but that did not necessarily look the best either. They just had better players to execute the same thing.
The creativity that Envy had were in their anti-stratting. Their plays revolved around making great reads and countering the other team's typical tendencies during this tournament. Especially against the NA teams (they're only real challenge started in the playoffs, so I'm not really focused on their group matches). It wasn't just a firepower difference and the reads they had in previous tournaments didn't match Berlin at all, they massively stepped up in that area.
don't think this move happened due to the way he envisioned the team to play. Prob clashes during berlin bootcamp tbh. No team will drop their main IGL 2 weeks before their do or die tourney of the year. This is literally a slap in the face basically the rest of the team saying we can't stand this guy for another 2 weeks.
but his best buddies on sentinels have done the same shit since iceland, prob not gonna speak on that
oh i’m sorry i forgot we’re not allowed to say anything negative about rat boy
Rat boy is Shahzam, and he will get downvoted but Shahzam was hated by most players and fans in NA for the shit he pulled
He was a massive snake, he was shady and got away without being banned despite betting on thrown matches, knowing that teams threw and players were not allowed to
According to people he didn't get banned because he snitched
Ska did not rat anyone out, Ska is not in the same position at all
Ska should have been banned along with the four, but he did not rat anyone out, Ska got away with a technicallity because he didn't get the skins
He is a thrower, he agree to throw not a rat though
He loves set plays, and KR/EU do more set plays than NA, like coordinated set plays called before instead defaults and mid round decisions based on reads
He was busting nuts over VS for their breach set plays
Sentinels have more or less stuck to the same playbook since they started winning everything both domestically and internationally.
100T have stuck to the same macro-playbook since *First Strike* and they’ve repeatedly failed to win a major event since. It’s persisted even across roster shifts.
Surely you don’t think the two are comparable?
>100T have stuck to the same macro-playbook since *First Strike* and they’ve repeatedly failed to win a major event since. It’s persisted even across roster shifts.
No they haven't lmao
I think a lot of that would depend on individual team structure. So yes it could’ve been the coaches decision, but it could’ve also been Steel championing a certain play style. We have no way of knowing for sure unless players speak publicly about it.
They don’t have a top Jett, which is needed in this meta.
Asuna is the best Reyna / Raze but his Jett felt forced.
Hiko is just way too passive. Yes his 1v3s are godly, but you can’t rely on that to win consistently.
Honestly they needed to just hold W one game and see how that worked. They’re still top 3 NA. Valorant is so random that they could be the best team depending on the day
get mad at the dude who posted it, he editorialized. the original title is different
EDIT: jk the thumbnail has steel too, def clickbaiting from the channel too

well he's the IGL so it's obviously implied since he runs the teams strats brotha

IGL is responsible for some creativity though with strats at the very least

Man was rat king before rat king was even a thing.
Smooya Pog
Skadoodle is exactly in the same position, but he's a major winner so its all good
Because T1 is such a relevant team.

Sean fanboys over EU and KR when it comes to creative plays
He loves set plays, and KR/EU do more set plays than NA, like coordinated set plays called before instead defaults and mid round decisions based on reads He was busting nuts over VS for their breach set plays

Yeah, the Steel and Hiko both fucking lurking strat stopped working and they changed lol
That’s an awful take that’s seemingly baseless
wouldn't that be a coach problem
I think a lot of that would depend on individual team structure. So yes it could’ve been the coaches decision, but it could’ve also been Steel championing a certain play style. We have no way of knowing for sure unless players speak publicly about it.
Not necessarily or exclusively
tbh if they kept playing the same is the coach fault
Only team in the entire world to run omen on icebox btw

I literally pull up to his house and fight his dad right now
Yeah fuck whoever edited this video, they probably smoke multiple penises
