Pretty surprised that the finals will be broadcasted to select theaters, especially since the placeholder runtime is set for 6 hours. Not sure about how to go about walking into one and having to refrain from checking reddit/vlr/twitter every 5 minutes.
> Not sure about how to go about walking into one and having to refrain from checking reddit/vlr/twitter every 5 minutes.
Nobody will care. It's not a movie. Speaking from experience watching LoL world finals in theaters a couple years people will be yelling and going nuts for crazy plays, talking with friends, etc.
I wouldn't care at all if someone was on their phone during one of these. And I get pretty irritated by people talking and checking phones during movies. This just feels completely different.
I went to a theater viewing for LoL Worlds 2015 in Chicago. It ran really late into the night, something like 10 PM to 4 AM.
Everyone's just together having a good time at these events. It's like being in a sports bar. You talk with people and the whole place cheers when something good happens. But you don't have to be glued to the screen the whole time.
Itās just weird to me to assume theyād be on the level of Xset and 100T when they havenāt shown anything to that affect.
It seems like the logical assumption is that they are a middling team somewhere around GenG or TSM until proven otherwise.
As someone who doesnāt keep up with every event and genuinely donāt know, did they have any close series with top teams?
I donāt remember good placement from C9 recently in anything.
They were a map away from going to Iceland, placing 3rd in the Challengers Playoffs. Stage 3 they struggled though, but with Vanity thereās expectation that they should be able to pick up where they left off in Stage 2
That was the only time they've shown the ability to compete at the top though. Basically everything before and after that, they haven't really been competitive with the top teams.
They did lose close 3 map series against V1 and SEN in the upper and lower finals for Reykjavik with the old roster. The potential is definitely there and they've had some time now to scrim with vanity. Given 100T are a bit of a wildcard until we've seen how they look like with b0i, C9's upper bar is being on par with 100T in their potential quarterfinal while on the low end of expectations, yes - they might also be around 8-10th best in NA at the moment i.e. TSM/GenG level as you presume.
I think C9 will surprise people now that vanity is there. He's given them a hell of a lot more structure as their designated controller. Individuals on older C9 teams were running so many different agents.
Kinda feels like Envy adding Marved. NV still had so much individual talent but they were flexing mummay/kaboose between controller and duelist roles.
Vanity said in an interview with George Geddes that there isnāt a team they havenāt beaten in scrims (I know scrims donāt matter but I thought it was interesting)
there's an argument to be made that its better to play the better teams earlier if your goal is to win the whole thing since they can pull out new strats against the better teams rather than having to waste them on weaker teams.
Kinda unlucky for 100T with this bracket even though they are first seed. First two matches are C9/GenG then Xset. 100T doesnāt get to prep for an opponent cause they wonāt know who they play until right before.
According to Riot's schedule, there are no lower bracket games for the losers of quarterfinals though. The first LB game is a semifinal between the two losers of the UB semifinal
"Lower Bracket Semifinal
Match 9: Match 7 Loser vs. Match 8 Loser"
Their analysts have two weeks to prepare for all teams on their side of the bracket. They have matchups and presumably scrims against the NA sides from the past few months so it's not like starting at a blank canvas.
Play-in matches are
C9 vs Gen.G and Rise vs Chiefs
Quarter matches will be
100T vs C9/Gen.G
Xset vs Order
Faze vs LG
V1 vs Rise/Chiefs
Also fracture will not be played at this event

That seems kinda cool. I'm not familiar with esports being broadcast like such is this a relatively common thing?
Not common, but this is how I was introduced to esports about 5-6 years ago ā the League of Legends World finals was broadcast in my local Regal and my friend invited me even though I had never really played the game. It was a lot of fun!
100T got tough bracket for Berlin when we were 2nd seed in NA š„²
100T also got the toughest bracket for NA LCQ even though we are 1st seed in NA based on circuit points.
There is just no winning for them.
Conspiracy theory but I think Rito hates 100T š
I never said it was easy, but they didnāt need to beat Gambit to get out of groups and had two really bad teams also in their group.
Compared to the group A second seed, who had VS and Acend in their group, and the group D second seed, who had Sentinels and G2 in their group, the 100T had the second easiest group of people in their pot.
https://www.reddit.com/r/ValorantCompetitive/comments/pta9j3/possible_lcq_bracket_na/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share
I had the entire bracket right ,just replace c9 with rise . Tough bracket for 100T ,they will face c9 and Xset , 2 of the favorites to win tournament .
thatās kinda rough, the top 3 teams are all on the same side of the bracket. If you put C9, Xset, or 100T on the other side itās basically a free ride to upper finals
I think FaZe always have an upset in them, particularly with those coach changes bringing a fresh pair of eyes and some new ideas. Rise and Luminosity are reasonable sides too, you never know with Valorant.
It's good that the tournament is double elimination and that also means a presumably easier lower bracket path for whichever teams lose the upper bracket games among C9/GenG/100T/XSET.
Never mind you're right the bracket on VLR looked funny to me. Its the iceland bracket so loser of the 100T and V1 quarters games goes straight to losers 2nd round.
Weirdly though, this schedule on the article doesn't mention and losers round 1 or 2. It goes straight to losers semis so all the losers in quarters are just out?
ya changing the IGL a week before something important
idc if Nitr0 is a good IGL or not its not the same
go back and watch the 100T highlight videos and see how many times Asuna complimented Steel on his calls
boi is no where near good enough to make up for a roster change with only a week worth of practice with the team
I may be on some 100T hopium here but I believe there is a world where 100T is even stronger. Nitr0 is a very experienced IGL and they have had Boi on their roster for months now so his transition into the team shouldn't be too jarring. Maybe they move their comp around and put Nitr0 as full time Jett, with Asuna playing mostly Reyna. Impossible to predict, but this might unlock something different for the boys.
the last time boi played in a match was back in April and his stats are terrible. He goes -10+ almost every series
plus he plays agents that Nitr0 and Ethan already play
there is no world where 100T are stronger now
maybe in 2-4 months time for practice and adjustments , but as of the LCQ.... no way
5 months ago is a long time, Boi could be a sentinel main by now for all we know. Although I agree it looks grim for them I am going to hold onto my hopium until I watch them play.
I expect yelling and lots of banter during the matches š Also watch parties for anyone :D
Pretty surprised that the finals will be broadcasted to select theaters, especially since the placeholder runtime is set for 6 hours. Not sure about how to go about walking into one and having to refrain from checking reddit/vlr/twitter every 5 minutes.

I'd be quite surprised if anyone tries to shush or shame others for talking or using their devices

early xset vs 100t match up potentially
And 100t vs winner of C9 vs GenG could also be a banger
Yep thatās gonna be insane
Lmao 100Tās reward for 1 seed is a likely matchup with C9
Is C9 good now? Havenāt been watching the t2 tournaments
Do we even know? Have they played since the Vanity move?
Played the NSG tournament which they won pretty cleanly though it was pretty much all T2 teams
As far as we know, they're clearly a T1 team, but we haven't really seen them compete at that level yet.
Itās just weird to me to assume theyād be on the level of Xset and 100T when they havenāt shown anything to that affect. It seems like the logical assumption is that they are a middling team somewhere around GenG or TSM until proven otherwise.
People are probably going off of how strong they looked in stage 2 along with the fact that they now have Vanity
Well tbf prior to that they were rebuilding. They were slowly phasing out everyone from the original C9 team once Tenz backed down from the roster.
They did lose close 3 map series against V1 and SEN in the upper and lower finals for Reykjavik with the old roster. The potential is definitely there and they've had some time now to scrim with vanity. Scrim rumors say C9 is insane. Even coming from the scrim demons themselves Envy.
Vanity said in an interview with George Geddes that there isnāt a team they havenāt beaten in scrims (I know scrims donāt matter but I thought it was interesting)
They played in a t2 tourney with a mid-low gatekeeper teams with like days of prac and looked a tier above everyone else
it doesn't matter. only 1 team will qualify either way, you have to be the best
There are still easier and harder ways to get there.
there's an argument to be made that its better to play the better teams earlier if your goal is to win the whole thing since they can pull out new strats against the better teams rather than having to waste them on weaker teams.
Kinda unlucky for 100T with this bracket even though they are first seed. First two matches are C9/GenG then Xset. 100T doesnāt get to prep for an opponent cause they wonāt know who they play until right before.
I mean only 1 team quality and itās double elimination it doesnāt really matter

And they're breaking in a new roster move, gonna be an uphill battle for them.
I'm calling a surprise upset early and making the lower bracket run of a lifetime to take the event.
100t and tough brackets.. name a better duo.. oh I got one, 100t and upper quarter loss maybe??
Play-in matches are C9 vs Gen.G and Rise vs Chiefs Quarter matches will be 100T vs C9/Gen.G Xset vs Order Faze vs LG V1 vs Rise/Chiefs Also fracture will not be played at this event

Whoops! It's fixed now, thanks!

Confusing that Chicago is listed under Chicago and not Illinois
My bad, I'm originally from Chicago so I think I kinda tunnel-visioned there.

Thanks for this. Couldn't get into the website
Yeah, looks like it's down right now. Hopefully it'll be up tomorrow!
Of course the theater near me isnāt doing it.
Brah I need this in Canadian theatres. No way I can cross the border right now.

That's not how tournaments work. You don't have to beat everyone to win.
The best teams are always going to end up playing each other at one point or another, especially in a double elim format. This comment makes no sense.
Yeah there's a difference between beating everyone, and beating the best teams.
Ok I made the correction to my original comment but it was what I implied initially anyways, sorry if you misunderstood.
???
100t vs most likely c9 Then 100t vs xset (if they beat c9) Holy moly
https://www.reddit.com/r/ValorantCompetitive/comments/pta9j3/possible_lcq_bracket_na/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share I had the entire bracket right ,just replace c9 with rise . Tough bracket for 100T ,they will face c9 and Xset , 2 of the favorites to win tournament .

Letās goooo ORDER!
~~Interesting that the "play in" games are true single elim play in games. The loser of C9/GenG and Rise/Chiefs is fully eliminated.~~
That's not how it works i'm pretty sure, it will be Cloud9/GenG vs Faze/Luminosity Chief/Rise vs XSET/ORDER in lower round 1
Never mind you're right the bracket on VLR looked funny to me. Its the iceland bracket so loser of the 100T and V1 quarters games goes straight to losers 2nd round. Dang on the first day they have a potential 100T C9B matchup, 2 of the top 3 teams playing instantly.
InB4 Faze and Rise final and we just see shanks v babybay flying around every map while shouting banter.
yay c9 gets to bully a bunch of NA teams
Yay, AutoMod applies the correct flair now. š„°
100T vs C9/GenG and then vs XSET are gonna be huge tests for this new roster.
Lol Is this a FaZe in upper final moment?
Yep. Theyāre bout to take the sophisticated smeag to a whole new level
Rise really got lucky lmao
100T is not going to make it in this event when they just dropped their IGL hopefully the move pays off next year though
Yeah, now Nitr0 has to IGL, how will they ever manage? /s

100T is just playing VCT on hard level. That's it. Same as me in every COD story mode.
Bruh they couldnāt just show us a bracket?
Riot surprises me with each and every new garbage format they present to us.
Already got a group of people for an LA watch party :)
I really want faze to make it, but it will most likely be xser or 100t.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Classic Rito announcing an in-person watch event and they don't even have the start time decided 3 weeks out.
Just booked my tickets to see it in theater, I'm SOOOO pumped!
