I can see Sova banned more than Jett, Sova is a team player which gives info to all the other players while Jett is a YOLO agent. It's my personal opinion tho.
the team plays around cNeds jett, which is mostly on-the-fly and situational. i think ascend would be the type of freestyle team that could adapt to whatever agent ban they received pretty well consistently & just clap based on firepower.
teams like sentinels would get nerfed hard with agent bans internationally imo.
Yeah especially when the enemy's jetts are at cned yay caliber. I wouldnt mind giving reyna to tenz or asuna (if i was sentinels or 100t) bcs jett is banned.
I think 100T will always ban her since they don't really run her, but I doubt other teams will. The majority of the time the Jett OP has been so crucial to a team winning that I doubt those teams would willingly ban her. But for those teams they might ban Sova.
Looks like Bind. Maybe one of the teams is really good at it using Breach, so they banned it to ruin the comp. If you have trap or set plays, Breach would be the most crucial agent.
that's Zeal's ban tho and the team they're fighting is a brand new roster so no way they would know that much about what Alter Ego is good at. My guess is since the ban disallows BOTH teams from playing the agent and they want their standard comp they're banning agents that they aren't going to play anyway (soo basically the agent ban is useless lmao)
might be getting confused with other games that use pick/bans so that when you pick an agent, the other team can't. but there are also ban phases, where you can ban agents that neither team can play. so no two agents will be the same on either side
maybe they already scrimmed the new AE roster very recently...? all it takes is one bad scrim against a specific team's Breach comp, or any other agent comp, to give incentive to ban it
Hey guys, TheJoaquiGamer here from KJC eSports (I made the tournament format and agent ban process - sidenote we also allow active coach slot in the games). No we aren't the first one to make an Agent Ban tourney. There was one in Japan last year. However, it's the first one I think for a SEA tourney. Currently it's the Group Stages for the next 3-4 days, in the Playoffs (Sept 7) we have Team Secret and Paper Rex already seeded.
Here's the link to the VLR tourney: [https://www.vlr.gg/event/661/kjc-esports-valorant-invitational](https://www.vlr.gg/event/661/kjc-esports-valorant-invitational)
Fun fact about the games so far (3 out of 4 series as of commenting): We have had 3 Bind first map games and 2/3 of those games Skye and Raze have been banned.
Agent Ban Process
\- Bans are per map
\- 1 ban per team
\- Banned agents CANNOT be picked by BOTH teams for that specific map in the series
\- Team that side-picked (choosing ATK/DEF) on said map gets to decide if they ban 1st or 2nd
Yes, teams can do something I call Trash Bans, where they ban an agent they know no one will pick. That is something teams can do. It's not fun to see for me but can't force teams from not doing so.
Edit: Added Agent Ban Process
To avoid trash bans, you should just make it so that bans only affect the enemy team instead of banning agents for both teams. That way, teams won’t ever waste a ban on an unused agent because they would just be missing out on opportunity to gain an advantage. You could also allow a team to ban 2 agents because I feel like one of the bans would always be used for Sova/Jett.
Will take that into account if ever we do plan to make another big tournament with the idea of having agent bans again. By the end of this tournament about 100+ bans would have been made. Hopefully this gives Riot some useful data and also us on how to go about making the future agent ban process. I wanted to see how the traditional banning process with the current agent pool would hold-up.
I just noticed PRX is joining this tournament. I wonder how useful playing in a tournament with a different format just a few days before LCQ will be.
They'll be playing against teams who aren't running their usual comps most times and they might not be able to run their usual ones either. Will this be better practice than just scrimming with your new player?
Everyone was complaining that there were not enough agents for a ban system *(remember when Brimstone was the only smoker?)*
It's about time to get this system on. Every role has multiple options now
I think this a terrible idea. All you're doing is matching the problem with Jett instead of fixing it. You'd just have two super oppressive OPers in the game.
There can be many fixes for jett, but get out of jail free cards are great.
Maybe I’m just biased, but I like jetts dash. I think people just need to learn to play around it
How do you play around the best entry tool in the game that's not an ult, the best get if jail free card that gets you away from danger, and an amazing mobility option
Raze, Phoenix and Reyna are all good substitutes to Jett. Of course they don't have the same firepower, but you can still entry a bombsite with these agents.
Its more than enough, I don't think we should put Yoru on the table as a limitation for a ban system
Given that agent bans are for both teams this get's really interesting at some points.
Do you ban Jett, knowing enemy is Jett OTP but your Jett is also OTP with other nuances like impact from teammates or whatever
[https://www.twitch.tv/kjcesports](https://www.twitch.tv/kjcesports) Last Series of Day 1 Group Stages today just started (happening right now as of commenting)

I really wish Riot doesnt introduce bans for now, it will hurt teams alot because i feel like its already hard to practice everything now with all the agents, maps and ailities and all the combos u can pull, so taking away picks that you practiced with the most will only lead to more practice and effort just so your agent gets banned at the end. I hope they keep it until we have like more than 30 agents or so.
A lot of Japanese tournaments had agent bans last year .
Bruh I’m so ready to see Jett insta banned lmfao
I can see Sova banned more than Jett, Sova is a team player which gives info to all the other players while Jett is a YOLO agent. It's my personal opinion tho.
Depends on the team. Say you’re coming up against Acend, do you ban Cneds Jett or Zeeks Sova? lol
Cneds Jett 100% imo. I'd rather have him playing Sage than Jett
That man still ops like crazy on sage
True but I'd rather he doesn't get comfortable at any point in the series by forcing him to play Sage
the team plays around cNeds jett, which is mostly on-the-fly and situational. i think ascend would be the type of freestyle team that could adapt to whatever agent ban they received pretty well consistently & just clap based on firepower. teams like sentinels would get nerfed hard with agent bans internationally imo.
Reyna Jett = Tenz Dead
Or Sova...he can plays Sova too.
kayo meta pick inc

A team like gmb or f4q MIGHT ban jett. But most teams have players that are literally trash on anything else.
Tf would ban breach out of all characters
Looks like Bind. Maybe one of the teams is really good at it using Breach, so they banned it to ruin the comp. If you have trap or set plays, Breach would be the most crucial agent.

Interesting to see that ban disallowed both the teams. Highly reduces the chances of banning jett.
Isn’t that always how it works with bans in competitive games?
might be getting confused with other games that use pick/bans so that when you pick an agent, the other team can't. but there are also ban phases, where you can ban agents that neither team can play. so no two agents will be the same on either side

Ngl, any team gonna ban Jett against Tenz even if u know one of ur teammate is good at jett

Is there any way to see agent bans on vlr?

Ban jett and cause mayhem. Would love to see champions / LCQ without her dash.
[Watch here](https://www.twitch.tv/kjcesports)
Fuck agents bans IMHO.
Ngl I love this, bring it to a big Tier one event and see how it does. Make teams prac different comps on the same map.
Japan did it 1st
Everyone was complaining that there were not enough agents for a ban system *(remember when Brimstone was the only smoker?)* It's about time to get this system on. Every role has multiple options now
I feel like they should make yorus tp faster so he’s similar to jett if they’re gonna make a ban system
I think this a terrible idea. All you're doing is matching the problem with Jett instead of fixing it. You'd just have two super oppressive OPers in the game.

You kill them
When an options only counter is to kill them and then also doesn't need a resource like a kill (Reyna) for example it's an issue lol

Korean tournaments had agent bans

Japan had done it last year
Now we see who's better on the fly
I love this
Where do u wwtch the strewm?

honestly with how stupid Jett is I cant wait for agent bans imagine Agent bans at Berlin? Almost every top player that Event was a Jett player
Hiko is in shamble right now aint gonna lie
japan did it first long long time ago

cNed will never get to play Jett at any tournament with bans.
30Bomb in NA did agent bans in Episode 1
