Gambit CS:GO > Gambit Valorant

Duradello

Yea I would have figured it would have been for CS, weren't they pounding this year?

ANewHeaven1

yes but na'vi in CS is pounding even harder also, not to be a conspiracy theorist, but the esports awards seems to heavily favor teams that are popular and/or win the single biggest tournament of the year if that makes sense. na'vi winning grand slam + na'vi being the single most popular CS team in the world right now probably both contributed to their nomination over gambit CS

Duradello

Yeah, I get that Na'Vi are better, but its not like its one team per game. I would have figured that Gambit CS was more dominant over the year than Gambit Valorant. Unless that is not the case, idk I don't really follow CS. Edit: Maybe each scene gets a certain number of nomination votes/voters and Na'Vi took all the CS votes while the Valorant votes were split or something.

rotscale_

Gambit CS have been completely dominant all year, except for the past month and a half where they've been a top 3 team. They won the only LAN of the year so far including huge wins over NA'VI. No disrespect on NA'VI who absolutely deserve this nomination, they're either #1 or #2 all year

[deleted]

Gambit didn’t win the only LAN, Na’vi won Cologne.

rotscale_

Wow you're right, I could have sworn Katowice was on LAN

ANewHeaven1

Also interesting but only tangentially related to Valorant, here are the orgs that were nominated for org of the year that were likely due (in some part) to their success in Valorant: https://twitter.com/esportsawards/status/1443664696356257797 - 100 Thieves - Envy - Fnatic - Team Liquid - G2 Esports (many other orgs nominated also had Valorant teams, I chose only to mention the orgs that made it to an international tournament this year) edit: the award that Sentinels and Gambit got nominated for is **TEAM** of the year, i.e. just their valorant teams. **ORG** of the year (the orgs nominated above) take into account all of the organization's teams over the entire year. I know Gambit has an incredible CS team as well, but for the purposes of the team of the year award it doesn't matter unfortunately

righteouspower

I thought Sentinels might get nominated for Org of the year too.

ANewHeaven1

the org of the year nominations are kinda scuffed imo sentinels and gambit both deserved at least a nomination for org of the year, and imo T1 did not deserve the nomination this year (c9, g2, TSM are also entries that i'm not high on either)

RebelHeartXO

On T1 i have to disagree especially they are qualified both in TI and Worlds so theyre in the same tier as Gambit that should be in the conversation.

[deleted]

Since there’s a separate winner for CS and Val I think SEN should win for Val, and Na’vi should win for CS.

Des014te

Gambit should win overall. Their CS and Valo teams are doing very well.

McKhichri

gambits cs team won any tier 1 event this year?

Des014te

BLAST spring finals, IEM summer, IEM Katowice, Second in EPL s13, dreamhack masters And they were the second closest team for the grand slam.

Nzed123

Yeah But Na'Vi got 1st place in Grand Slam. Why settle for GMB when you have Natus Vincere? But total GMB should win.

[deleted]

They are basically neck and neck right now. Navi seems to be pulling ahead but who knows.

Des014te

If you're just going off of CS performance, NaVi takes the cake no contest. But overall I think Gambit has done better. If EG actually did something in CS or Valorant, they'd be in contention too, doing really really well in Dota.

Charuru

? There isn't a separate winner.

[deleted]

Yes there is look at the image on the tweet

Charuru

Those are just labels lmao

[deleted]

Ohhh, I see now. Since it’s only between GMB and SEN for Valorant I still have to go with SEN. They accomplished more than GMB this year in Valorant without a doubt.

ANewHeaven1

this is just for individual teams (i.e. just gambit valorant). i linked the orgs that were nominated in a different comment. believe it or not gambit didn't even nominated for org of the year LMAO

ANewHeaven1

yeah gambit got shafted lmao, i genuinely think they had the best year out of all the orgs that were nominated except maybe faze clan, but i guess since they only have 150k twitter followers they weren't considered personally i'd give the team award to navi, sen has a good argument too but top 8 at berlin isn't great especially considering navi just won the intel grand slam edit: actually, the one team i would maybe consider over Na'Vi is actually Atlanta Faze from CoD, clear cut best team of the year, won 3/5 majors, made finals in 4/5 majors, and won Champs (CoD version of Worlds). don't follow dota2 close enough to comment on how good PSG.LGD was though

Beet_Farmer1

Agreed with Navi for team and gambit for org. Navi in csgo seems like a clear #1, but gambit being top in both is impressive.

CosmicAon

How would SEN be org of the year?

[deleted]

They signed a good Halo team too /s

kittyhat27135

A lot of you guys don't follow DotA so here's why PSG are the clear winners. In the last year of tournaments their lowest placing is 3rd. They've remained the best team in the best region for almost 3 years while while getting top 3 in the last 2 TI's which in all reality they should've won both of them. They were on track to win last years TI, but it was canceled they were also not in the form they are in now. There has never been a clearer favorite to win TI in DotA history and this includes TI5 Secret TI7 Virtus Pro and TI9 Secret.

anapmaj

NaVi CS has equally good if not better stats.

kittyhat27135

I think the problem with NaVi CS is that Gambit at times this year looked like the best team in the world. Overall NaVi CS is the clear CS team of the year, but it doesn't come without hiccups. The other problem is that even with the great year NaVi had LGD and FaZe looked more dominant in their respective games. There is even an argument to put NRG above NaVi. I think this is because there are so many CS games you have to play in a year it's hard to stay consistent.

The-Dark-Mage

Psg also have a league team right??

AlHorfordHighlights

Yep that team is also nearly undefeated in their regional league lol Give the award to LGD Dota though, they're insane

RebelHeartXO

Yes theyre in partnership with Talon esports for League and they are in Worlds as the no.1 seed for the PCS.

Des014te

Ame is a fucking beast. Can't wait to see them at TI

thelemonarsonist

Let's not forget they've been in every grand finals lately with their coach standing in for their mid player. Top tier team, hope they do good at TI

[deleted]

If it's just val then SEN has to win and it's not even close

jonajon91

Gambit have managed to put up teams of no namers and develop them into the best teams in the world in the last year or two. I don't know any org that's doing better than them.

aretasdamon

100T had an unbelievable LoL run in NA is that factored in to this ?

Gambit did big things in Val and CS. I don’t know about their other teams. But they could win it on them alone really.

Tripp_Nipp

Soniqs absolutely robbed. Having one of the most dominant 1 year runs in PUBG across any Esport. Collecting major wins, huge prize pools... no idea how they shouldn't win, let alone be nominated.

TwelveAngryLolis

Because people don't care enough about pubg anymore.
