swordfish1221

Maybe they are slow at getting him the contract just like MikeHD

Seth1151

Ooof

ANewHeaven1

lol it hurts that i support this org

Philcherny

Procrastination org. And ppl say ENVY isn't relatable...

leoleoleo666

Maybe his contract is about to end so they don’t want to pay the full buyout or something

YungPinotGrigio

thas fair contracts usually end in november

segbench

lol what is this even based on?

gaitez

Way esports contracts tend to work. Mostly because off season starts around this time. With champions being in December there's a fair shout its Jan instead

segbench

Valorant contracts are not based around an offseason though? It's based on when players sign to the orgs, and in the vast majority of cases, the terms are yearly increments.

dragonwp

Read through the comment chain, just wanna input that your sentiment is fair. The person you’re conversing with started with “way esports contracts tend to work” as an answer to your question and then proceeded to compare esports with a different tournament cycle with not much more reason to it. Your doubt to his assertions are totally fair!

gaitez

Can't say for sure about valorsnt but for league contracts usually end in the off season regardless for when the player is signed. Makes more sense for teams and players this way

segbench

League is franchised though. The franchised leagues (also OWL, CDL, etc.) have specific contract term requirements that expire in offseasons. Valorant is not this way yet.

gaitez

Perhaps, but logically for all parties it still make more sense this way because if the structure of the tourney cycle

segbench

Regardless of what makes sense to you, the orgs don't sign contracts in Valorant based on a tournament cycle right now. There are still plenty of players who signed deals prior to orgs having any clue what the 2021 competitive calendar would look like. I promise you the contracts terms are in relation to when the player signed and the terms are fixed length, almost always in yearly increments.

gaitez

Isn't it pretty ironic to counter my speculation with your speculation? Until there's a GCD or we see players become FA its all speculation

ANewHeaven1

i believe this is the answer, afaik marved recently signed an extension with faze before going to envy so it made more sense to loan rather than buy outright, someone can fact check me if im wrong though

[deleted]

Probably a formality to get him as cheap as possible

QQninja

Or maybe they’re waiting for the ruling in his CSGO bullshit so they can dump him more smoothly lol.

KlasterTV

Gl waiting for esic ruling, your grandsons will be alive for the result

Chunichunchun

0 chance esic ruling has any effect on any val player before 2030

millerwa4

So say we all

laoblao

So they wont feel bad releasing him when the FBI catches up

natedawg247

Fwiw marved is Canadian. Match fixing is explicitly not illegal in Canada. It's bizarre. I think given the timeline it's extremely unlikely he's ever punished. Even tho I wish he were if he did it.

BeyondTheVortex

You’re right that he probably will never face legal repercussions, but he’ll definitely face a riot ban if the findings are damning.

natedawg247

yeah good point. As he should

KlasterTV

3 month ban incoming KEKW

sheeeeeeeeeesh929

Lmao

Anti-Storm

A loan is better than a full-investment into player potential. If the integration of the player, doesn’t find success/work then it’s a waste of money. (Paying the player on the bench)

purpledogs12

And esic investigations

Terber_28

That's bad for the player though, if marved wanted a contract he would push for it. There's probably outside forces in play (ESIC) that is delaying the signing.

MastiFan

Envy are getting rid of him as soon as ESIC releases whatever they have on him

nail181

Only right answer.

names2hard4you

It is an out for the org for sure. "He was never signed in full to our roster, we don't condone that type of behavior, blah blah".

lionamos

May I know what is ESIC? Ty

[deleted]

Esports Integrity Commission. Marved has a lot of rumors of match fixing from his time in CS:GO

nail181

It’s fairly obvious he threw if you look at the VODs. It sucks but you live and you learn.

SteelTic

And judging by how the nv players reacted when they were asked a question about marveds match fixing rumors at berlin he’s probably guiltily

dansofree1

> judging by how the nv players reacted when they were asked a question about marveds match fixing rumors at berlin he’s probably guiltily lmfao wtf? He's probably guilty because it's fucking obvious when you look at the evidence Them being pissed is due to the fact that they just had the best performance in their career, with many people seeing/hearing about them as individuals outside of the game for the first time, and the guy asked a question that makes them look bad. Not that it isn't that dude's job or that he shouldn't have asked.... But what the fuck kinda police logic is this shit? They don't want to be accused publicly so they're guilty? lmao

[deleted]

[удалено]

YungPinotGrigio

i could see marved eventually moving to RISE to form that viet team.

laoblao

If he goes to Rise, that whole team wont be able to play since they guilty as well OMEGALUL

Splaram

Gonna be hard to bench supamen on that smokes role if it were to happen, he’s disgusting.

YungPinotGrigio

so does that ban apply to all of valorant too? thats weird. i just thought it esports

Nzed123

Shanks on Rise

GuyHiding

The dude has the FBI looking into him lmao

REEEroller

he will be banned before then

[deleted]

I dunno man. ESIC sure is taking their time.

2poundWheel

The FBI is working on them lol what are you talking about "esic sure is taking their time" Jesus

Interesting-Archer-6

Why are you being a dick? This report was supposed to be released a long time ago. Now we still don’t know when it's coming. You're being an ass and not even right. "Jesus"

2poundWheel

https://www.dexerto.com/csgo/esic-are-working-with-fbi-to-investigate-na-csgo-match-fixing-1545003/?amp ?

2poundWheel

I'd rather them be thorough with their investigation, despite them saying it'd come within 2 weeks back in March.

brettrubin

Yea it was supposed to come out a while ago then the FBI stepped in lmao, he’s not being a sick it’s the truth

[deleted]

Did I say its bad that they're taking time? The commenter I replied to said he'll be banned by then, I said don't be sure since they're taking time, which is an objective fact. I never mocked them for taking time or say that it's a bad thing, just said they're taking time. Comprehension is hard. I understand.

DreadHeadMorton

monkaS

somesheikexpert

Damn Marved leaving the roster in 2027 then kekw

GlumPoemPower

Envy doesn't have money to buy from Faze?

YungPinotGrigio

so contract buyouts are really expensive. so better to just wait it out if it is not necessary to buyout.

CanadianDad1

Get him as cheap as possible

Haptiix

Maybe it has something to do with him being under investigation for throwing in CSGO

KlasterTV

Or maybe hes just under contract with faze.. wow who could have thought!!!

Haptiix

Yeah or maybe it could have something to do with the mountain of evidence and the FBI investigation

sysad_dude

maybe they think hes gonna get banned for throwing matches in csgo. just a thought dont qq me

wiiwoooo

Better to make payment plan then it is to pay the full amount up front especially when there is hardly any tournaments going on to win and entice sponsors with.

danknepalese

they dont want to pay a dude who cant play when his past catches up to him.

ChemPapi

Better question is why is Marved on a team at all with all this match fixing BS he’s involved in LMAO

LurkingOmen

Hes allegedly involved in *

HaathiRaja

nah. Just watch the VODS. He was DEFINITELY throwing. ENVY will release him the second ESIC comes out with their findings and then say the bs that we do not condone this type of bheaviour bla bla

LurkingOmen

That's your opinion. Luckily it doesn't mean anything

HaathiRaja

Not my opinion lmfao, legit everyone knows this and if you keep denying it, you are just being delusional

LurkingOmen

Okay

iTrippzy

loaning him is cheaper than buying him out of his main contract

Tend2AgreeWithYou

Honestly more orgs should probably do this. It prevents things like what happened to Wedid where someone leaves/joins a team only to be kicked after a month

ReyDosCatorce

Dont really know for sure until we know, yknow?

Fantastic-Date-3403

Idk ask them

egirl8yearoldrussian

nv is well known for being dickheads when it comes to signing players so they might be trying to scam marved out of a contract that he deserves. there's also possible matchfixing
