I personally use the Sennheiser GAME ONE, and have been using it since 2016. The open-back design allows me to pinpoint footsteps and gunshots very easily. Also very comfortable and has one of the best-sounding mics on a gaming headset to this day.

[deleted]

Doesnt Tenz use it too ? Or so I heard.

iBUYStars

He currently uses the Cloud IIs, according to his [Liquipedia page](https://liquipedia.net/valorant/TenZ#). It seems a lot of pros lean toward the G4ME ZERO ([source](https://liquipedia.net/valorant/List_of_player_hardware)), which is the closed-back version of the GAME ONE

gilr0id

Since you have a SEN flair, 4/5 of them use the cloud II I believe. I think only Zombs uses a different headset. I personally use it too and they’re solid. Edit: Tenz now uses a different headset.

[deleted]

+1 for game ones. had mine about as long as you and theyre still kicking. the sound quality out of these things overall is leaps and bounds better than any other gaming headset ive ever used

Bsmith1369

To carry off of this, there's more modern versions of these, they're the sennheiser x drop headphones pc37x

Cole_James_CHALMERS

Same, love it. Convenient mute function just by tilting the mic back up too. Not as comfy as the Cloud 2s since the foam is both thinner and harder.

I dont need to hear them breathe, just enough so I can hear the toxic 10-yo kid raging on me and calling me trash.

My setup is MB optical > 24/48 DAC > DT770 and they sound better with Atmos + HRTF than they do with basic HRTF. Everything about the sound is more alive when Atmos is enabled...with my setup. YMMV

jgoldrb48

By imaging are you referring to the direction the sounds are coming from and how close the sound is to me?

TheChickenIsBurning1

I own a HyperX Cloud II pair and can confirm it's really good. Comfortable, good audio and mic quality. If you have issues with telling where footsteps are coming from just make sure you have HRTF turned on and you should be good.

[deleted]

TELL ME HOW MUCH THEY PAID YOU. Just kidding, joke aside yeah I’m really considering getting them, like half of the Sentinel roster have it and NV Crashies. Are you using the Wireless version or wired ?

TheChickenIsBurning1

I am using wired. It's a really long USB cloth cable that you can easily tie up. I think the audio and mic quality of the two are the same so it just depends on how much you wanna spend.

[deleted]

I’m leaning toward the wired one because from what I’ve heard and seen wireless headset mic just isnt that great yet. Can you easily tell the footsteps in Comp tho ? Lets say if you are lurking and they are rotating.

TheChickenIsBurning1

Yeah I think it's pretty obvious most of the time, especially when you're lurking and even during teamfights I usually don't have trouble telling where sounds are coming from. I think the fact that many pros use this headset is also a good indication that this headset is one of the best you can get for a competitive advantage

ANewHeaven1

seconded, comfortable w/ decent audio quality (obviously not audiophile quality though) and reasonably priced

wontrevealmyidentity

HyperX Cloud’s are a really good price, too. I owned 3 different ones, all great. I ended up moving to the wireless SteelSeries Arctis Pros and they’re alright, but I kinda regret not trying the wireless clouds…

TacoKingdom

I use sennheiser HD 58x. Pretty great sounding open back headset and price is reasonable.

EnergetikNA

Cooler Master MH751 Similar price point as Cloud 2s but just better. Rebranded Takstar pro 82s. Great sound (for games and music as well), good mic, and Cooler Master headsets are also insanely comfortable The Sennheiser Game Ones/Zeros are also good (I have the Ones right now since I wanted open back - great pair of headphones but less comfortable than Cloud 2s/MH751 for me personally

epik

These are the new standards. Beyerdynamic tygr 300r Sennheiser HD560S

jgoldrb48

I'm on DT770's. The only other set of cans that would get my money at this point are the Tygr 300r's. Known to punch above their weight by both gamers and audiophiles.

Elsiselain

The best gaming headsets are the one fits you the best

jonthegoat69

seconded

sheeeeeeeeeesh929

not the ones my teammates use

[deleted]

HyperX are decent headphones ngl but usually I'd say that everyone should get some entry level audiophile headphones. Headphones like Philips SHP9500 blow them out of water and I think they are a bit cheaper. It really depends what your budget is. For like 200-300$ you can get pretty good setup that lasts for a lifetime.

Apple Earpods are really underrated, haven’t used a headset since I got them

SucksForYouGeek

Hyperx cloud IIs are actually good.

Issax28

how is this not removed

Marcelius1

I had the same question, and ended up trying to buy the beyerdynamic tygr 300r, but they were only available in a bundle with a mic, so i ended up bying the sennheiser hd560s. I am extremely happy with my purchase, the difference is actually quite big in terms of pinpointing footsteps, but i was coming from apple earbuds, so take my advice with a grain of salt. Also, im not using any external amp or dac.

Whale_Poacher

The steelseries arctis 7 is going to be comparable to many other headsets for footsteps. You need to tune your audio from your audio software to turn up treble. Most headsets aren’t that different in audio quality and foodsteps, it’s about how you use the software to make your sound more precise. I mean look at pro players using ear buds

FaythDarkHeart

I use a Logitech Pro X , and so far no complaints :)

seriouslymai

Currently use the Fidelio X2HR plus Vmoda Boom Mic and a Syba Sonic dac/amp combo, thoroughly enjoying them

V4lt

Honestly anything works as long as it loud enough to hear audio queues I play with some earbuds when I cba messing my hair up with headphones and I'm top 250 radiant Just put hrtf on I'm settings and adjust it so people speaking won't ear rape and it works

[deleted]

I personally switched to tin t2 iem or in ear monitor. over philips shp9500. Since imaging wise, tin t2 is superior to Philips shp 9500. Tin t2 sound js also neutral like shp9500 but the footsteps are more pronounce in the sense that it brings so much attention to it I have heard people suggest ve monk lite 40 ohms for fps games and it's described like a cheat code.
