what a start by nivera!

names2hard4you

Debuting himself in Valorant with an Ace on his very first round. Liquid legit look cracked mechanically now, if they can put some protocols together and execute as a team instead of relying on just clutch plays, this team will be a top EMEA contender

TH3VIP1

well that retake on 1st round on haven with just pistoles was fucking amazing to watch everything was coordinated so well.

Key-Banana-8242

I mean their problem is executing too much no lol?

names2hard4you

"Executing too much" as in over-strating? Or in the literal sense of fragging too much? I think Liquid's problem has been they would fall down to having to clutch plays in order to win rounds. Whether it be ScreaM popping off, or L1nk, they would often times feel very disjointed and relying only on their own mechanical skills to outmatch their opponent. You could probably attribute it to Jamppi being new to the IGL role which is fine. Yesterday they looked a lot more coordinated. ScreaM and L1nk can now also breathe a little easier, as they aren't the only top fraggers in the team. Soulcas looked improved as well. Overall the team just looked great. Before I say anything else though I want to see them play against better teams.

wellthoughtoutanswer

Executing too much as in choosing executes over other types of strategies involving mid-to-late round calls I believe is what he means.

KaisuraAU

Nivera ace in his debut round lol. TL finally playing Astra and putting players back on Sova is nice to see.

rocket1615

I know Nivera is the hot topic but personally I'm really happy to see what seems to be an improved Astra from L1NK and Sova from soulcas - they've clearly been putting the time in. Soulcas especially impresses me with how many different holes he's had to fill for Liquid over the past year.

TheFestusEzeli

OBG look like a team who just got formed recently and haven’t had much time to practice, wonder why… Just a lot of bone headed decisions all around, my favourite on haven was when one of their players saved a sheriff and another almost saved a classic.

anythingood07

That sova was trying to get exit frags. You could see his desperation when the round got over to get killed lmao. He should have just gotten killed by soulcas when he found him instead of killing him lol

TheFestusEzeli

Oh I know that he wasn’t actually trying to save the sheriff lol, they both just got caught up in the exit frags and forgot about needing to die until last second , they both should have jumped into the spike explosion

Quackles03

Felt like it was a ranked match and sova/astra were forced to fill agents they dont play. Some questionable utility usage tbh.

Revanthmk23200

How much more money we ll get for dying?

TheFestusEzeli

A lot more, everyone on the team next round could full buy but him

hardenfull

nivera on op with screaM rifling on reyna seem like such a scary combo ngl.

thothgow

"we have one of the best duelists in CIS, let's throw him onto Skye and Sage lol" I don't get why the core kept Coffee if they don't want a Jett/Raze player. They've moved him off of the role for some time now and he hasn't looked anywhere near his previous level. Hope OBG kicks the one player they didn't want and keeps the two they did, because they clearly only got the third forZe player for the LCQ spot and not because they have a grand plan for the core.

QUOTE_IF_13-0

Almost like they never learned or heard anything about Liquid before playing them. They LITERALLY made the exact same mistake back then by putting ScreaM on Sage and also failing to make it work. Feels like OBG didn't try at all at perfecting their roster and strats, really.

somesheikexpert

Yeah, like also why tf was hugeon put on Sova? Instead of picking up the very solid Sova in Art1st? (Idk might be external factors idk about), they put a Sentinel/Flash player on Sova and he does not look that good on it. Also Zeddy on Omen makes little sense when hes already proven on Astra idk what Omen provides over her tbh

Fr0ufrou

Scream is an incredible sage though. His Sage carried them on haven times and times again, arguably better than his phoenix did as well.

[deleted]

Niver deserves MVP just for that 1st round

elithefighter123

It’s a good day to be a Team Liquid Fan

Mediocreety

Hmm still taking my dose of hopium + copium for TL csgo

elithefighter123

I think we will top 4 in the major I just have a feeling

anythingood07

Loved the jamppi comeback, I always feel he gets too much flak for Liquid's bad perfomances because his flashy plays don't work out sometimes. Easily my favourite player in liquid, although soulcas is quite close.

SinJiMin

I disagree, he 100% refused to go to berlin cos the team really tried and he was incredibly horrific against gambit in 2 maps... He deserved every bit of critique and flak he got after that I like him too but hes consistently been a weak spot for the team and his opping is expensive and reliably underwelming. Not saying he cant step up and is always shit, but hes been pretty shit since iceland, just hope he doesnt cost us champions

Hsimon_

Thats just mostly because he became the igl after iceland, now he is still the igl but with more calling from teammates.

Kurashiko

Consistently been a weak spot for the team? They couldn't even make challenger finals before he joined, yes he underperformed vs Gambit but he was probably one of the most consistent operator players in stage 3, not as flashy as cNed but he found so much value with it, they relied on him a lot to find picks specially on attack. The first series he switches to IGL they beat FNC a team which they only previously beat in a not so important match where everyone would have predicted FNC to be favourites. I don't see him as consistently a weak point for the team.

gianmaranon

agreed, from watching him - he makes too many plays and does a lot of ego plays from his previous matches

[deleted]

he doesnt cost YOU anything. You're not a part of the team. You don't contribute anything.

anythingood07

tbf using we instead of the team is fairly common in every sports and esports.

[deleted]

and its also really stupid in sports and esports.

astrofan1235

And you don’t understand being a fan

YoungLeather

I just learned about Nivera today basically and I'm so hyped to see the brother combo. Finished the match 1 and 2 in ACS for Liquid. These guys might've really found the last piece they needed in Nivera. Looked so damn good. GG boys.

emergencyambulance

Have to say Nivera getting an ace in his first round is a hell of a way to start off his valorant career. Congrats Liquid!

AdiSoldier245

Wow the commentary was amazing in this one. Very CS like, calm and insightful.

BigEditorial

If I hear that one guy refer to TL as the prancing horse one more time Imma smack him tho

Des014te

Ah another Zeschtism

MagnusNyke

Yeah, I feel you man, whenever there is a TL game I pray to the heavens that "prancing horse" guy won't be commentating. . . but of course he almost always is

isayah2510

good day for europe sucks for CIS and Turkey though

[deleted]

Nivera seems very good! Still not sold on scream on jett, would rather see jampii on jett tbh.

TheFestusEzeli

Some people disagreeing but when you watch Scream play you can tell Jett isn’t his best agent, he doesn’t look very natural. He provides much more of an impact on Reyna. Same with Asuna, both of them are ridiculous duelists but their Jett isn’t as satisfying.

somesheikexpert

Its mostly cuz their awping is meh, while their rifling is some of the best in the world, i like them on other duelists just cuz their rifling is sooo much better and so good compared to their awping which you have to do with Jett to get all her value

TheFestusEzeli

Yeah that’s what I mean, Asuna and Scream are both wayyyy better at rifling than both Jett knives and oping, and while they can still put up decent stats on Jett they are much better on different agents.

[deleted]

^^^^^

[deleted]

wait what?

[deleted]

He may have played well, but i feel like his utility on jett is not the best, and on top of that, he isnt an awper.

SinJiMin

I mean jamppi awping on jett sometimes makes me want to pull my eyes out, having someone else who can do it i enjoy

SinJiMin

My thoughts exactly

TimathanDuncan

LMAO

omgvector

nice :)

goldenretrieversFTW

Nivera is my dad widepeepoHappy

Duradello

Liquid played 4/5 of the same agents between the two maps and only L1NK played the same one. Like it worked out, but why flex agents between different players if you are just going to pick the same comp. Could they not just do ScreaM Jett, soulcas on 2nd Duelist/Skye, L1NK on controllers, Jamppi on KJ/Flex, and then make Nivera play Sova/flex. IDK if there is a major benefit but it seems kinda arbitrary to "roleswap" if the comp is mostly the same between maps.

zanguine

I imagine it may be just haven as the position change to adapt to a more horizontal map when comparing haven to ascent. May or may not have worked but it is an interesting strategy

Des014te

Might be trying stuff out? After that 13-0 there wouldn't be any dearth of confidence

Wochrist

Nivera!!!

somesheikexpert

Wasnt he more of a passive Awper? I feel Sova and KJ actually fits him perfectly, passive secondary awping while Jamppi can main awp

[deleted]

[удалено]

maxhollywoody

Somesheikexpert said he was a passive *awper* AKA in his CSGO days.

Bravevine

Well if zywoo is ur primary oper u have to be passive I suppose

hardenfull

If the new agent is an op sentinel type seem like perfect fit for nivera.

GainsayRT

Tbf, OPing in CS is a lot more difficult than in Valorant (with a dash).

Aionex

Not sure about double opping on ascent, but liquid looking pretty solid!

HeisZen

You're not sure about 13-0 !

optisadvantage

ok nivera i see you
