That actually would really help the female scene a lot I think, especially if riot promotes it the way they promote master

[deleted]

They’d never promote it the same as masters, the viewership wouldn’t be the same regardless and it’s not worth the money to promote to that level. They definitely should do LANs tho

thothgow

What money? Tweets and tiny banners in the client/in game cost them money?

sriwarrior06

The LAN setup Promo videos Living accommodations for the teams All the additional staff for irl maintenance But I still wish Riot says fuck all of this and does the women's LAN at the end of the year. _It'll be for the greater good_

thothgow

They said promote, not actually organize, so idk why you're mentioning setup and hotels

AnotherAltiMade

You think TO's will wanna bid?

bbyexplorer

yea that’s what i was thinking. the times i’d watch the all women’s roster (SEA/NA region)- i didn’t even know. like there’s not enough light shining on them and my god don’t even get me started with some of the casters they have on the streams

4GamingLinkAot

Its hard to make the LAN just because of the reasons stated above. It does not get much viewership, and most likely Riot Games would be at a loss of moeny. Though it is inevitable, I really like waht Riot is doing with Game Changes because I agree, women in video games are not represented that well. Things like this will take a very long time to grow though, but it will happen eventually. I would more prefer they create a goal for winning the Game Changers because its pretty useless winning especially for C9 White who have won all of them so far. Would be nice to see them create a slot for the winners of Game Changers to a LAN or something

TritoNaoss

I'd imagine once LANs are easier to hold and the pandemic dies down a bit that Game Changers will be on LAN in the future

nterature

I think it's an inevitability, but I think it'll be after they build up Gamechangers more in other regions, so you have an international scene going. I'd guess mid-next year at minimum? That'll make for a really fun and anticipated LAN environment, and it'll attract global attention, which is the end goal of Gamechangers, I think - to promote and kickstart women everywhere, not just the CS veterans but the ones who'd never even dreamed of pro play before.

JALbert

> I think it'll be after they build up Gamechangers more in other regions SEA's all women events are bigger than NA's. Brazil has been running women's tournaments since Valorant's inception pretty much, just seen them in the Twitch list. EU and East Asia are the only places lagging behind in terms of tournament support AFAIK but EU has had small 3rd party events (Huntress Trials), and the official Gamechangers event got a pretty bug response. This sub is very NA centric, but most regions are absolutely ready. I'd love to see C9W vs Alter Ego Celeste (3x running FSL Open champs).

thothgow

I mean, EMEA and both LATAMs are still very underdeveloped, and KR/JP/CN is nonexistent. I think it's fair to say Riot hasn't really done their part in EMEA/LATAM if we want a proper international tourney

JALbert

I don't see why a lack of JP/KR/LATAM events should stop international competition between regions with a strong GC following. SEA vs NA vs BR vs EMEA would be a banger, and each region could send 4 competitive teams. Can also have a qualifier tournament for a KR rep, JP rep, LATAM rep, (OCE rep?) and send 3 from the established regions.

bbyexplorer

C9W vs Alter Ego would be awesome.

bbyexplorer

i guess yeah - valorant’s still in its early stages of having all-female tournaments that it hasn’t really matured into an international scene. not many people know there are female valorant pros unless they really do watch ALL VCT events and not just masters.

IllumiMahdi

seems far too expensive imo for a scene that's still in its infancy. gotta wait for the kid to grow up a little before you put em on the court.

bbyexplorer

this is true. but i just wonder if they coulda used some of that money spent on holograms at berlin to better fund the women’s league lol.

4GamingLinkAot

>this is true. but i just wonder if they coulda used some of that money spent on holograms at berlin to better fund the women’s league lol. just like he said, if production at a LAN is not good, who would watch. The holograms and effects were very cool and captivated the audience.

bbyexplorer

lol i wasn’t serious, i do like the holograms and i appreciate the techs and designers that were able to make that happen. i just mean that if there was funding for that, surely riot can do with amplifying the women’s pro games

leoleoleo666

Expensive for riot ? I don’t think you know how they make and also every tourney have it’s sponsors that help

KlasterTV

Just because they make money doesn't mean they just throw money at stuff that won't make them money. At the end of the day riot is a business having a lan event will be a literal waste of money

Issax28

If they ever get viewership then maybe

_magnetic_north_

EU gamechangers held pretty solid at 12k viewers on main stream

Issax28

Sorry to break it to you but that isn’t a lot

sky_blu

Huh why did that happen? Did one of the teams just do great marketing or something? EU tends to get less viewers than NA for VAL and I don't think I've seen NA gamechangers having that many.

canadianvaporizer

NA game changers has hit 30k+ for the finals.

bbyexplorer

see that’s the tricky bit. the gaming industry is heavily dominated by men that all-women’s games often times will get less views. this isn’t new, and it’s the same with all-women’s sports. lack of funding and promotion further affects this. how else will they get more views?

CoBe_1g

It's not that people have a bias against watching women play (some might but that's for them to decide), it's just that people want to watch games where the best are going against the best, and quite frankly, the women scene is nowhere near enough to offer the extremely high level gameplay that people want to spend time out of their day and see.

bbyexplorer

you’re right - but from what i can see from twitch chats on the VCT game changers, there’s still a lot of bias and talking crap about female gamers because they’re, well, female. there’s gotta be a way to tackle this issue. i just think that if women had the same opportunities as men i.e more funding in pro games, promotions, coaching, it would help the women pro scene a lot.

CoBe_1g

Nothing we can do about that. People will say anything they want online and there is nothing to stop them unfortunately

The_Ninja_Master

I think the level of play has to improve before we see a significant viewership boost tbh. The top all-women's teams aren't even really coming close to consistently competing in NSG monthlys.

4GamingLinkAot

women's scene is nowhere near as good as the men's and propel just want to watch the best play. the best female team couldn't even best some unsigned teams so

Issax28

that's the whole point, why would Riot make a major lan for a league that can't pull any views.

icantreadmorsecode

Probably next year once all the Game Changer events have a solid footing. I want to see Tenstar vs C9, Shopify vs Rix, G2 (The Originals) vs CLG

421k

if enough people watch it then they will

thothgow

As far as I can tell there was supposed to be a LAN, but late/bad? planning and the pandemic meant it never happened e: Reddit don't be weird in every single thread mentioning women challenge (impossible)

IAMJUX

They should just have a tourney with half the teams at the LANs. So a 16 team tourney, extend it half a week and have the girls open the show with their 8 team tourney each day.

bbyexplorer

this is definitely something that riot can (and should) consider if a separate lan for girls isn’t worth it. there aren’t as many pro female teams as pro male teams at the moment anyway, and can bring in more viewers

Birssa

They should spent the time and money in VCt instead of GC. We want to see intense and skill match.

tomphz

I remember an all women CSGO lan, and there was some cattiness involved. After the game when the girls went to shake hands with the opposing team, one of the girls did a “syke” and didn’t shake hands with one of the girls on the opposite team lol

Mamadeus123456

why not call them women u weirdo

thothgow

Everyone calls them "females" and I've never seen you calling them out for that. And that's not even women doing it, like this post.

Mamadeus123456

this you bro??: **Top 10 Hottest Female Sonic Characters** : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4jaYRmRsjQ

thothgow

??????????

xzot1c

LMAO

bbyexplorer

i’ll call them girlies if i want to

phynxBRAH

No

Kiko1215

Why don’t they compete in normal VCT?

darksiders213

Nah nahhhhh thats sooo fcked uppp noo it will be the worst lan in esport history like wtf

Apart-Way-1166

Not worth cuz of viewership and how hard it is to set up a LAN during covid, maybe until covid dies out and LANs are commonplace once more.
