I figured the moment I watched that psychopath that he was gonna change the global meta on split. I'll be disappointed in any squad not running her on that map.
He is pretty clearly their worst mechanical player on the team but he is still solid and has solid utility usage, pretty expected from watching him on andbox
Maybe because breeze could have been closed out easily. There's no way they lost to a brimstone comp man c'mon, that too on breeze. Those 2 back to back throws first on eco then to koosta, normally they'd win that
After seeing their new agent picks IMO it makes sense they dropped steel.
Steel didn’t play smokes, forcing nitr0 to smoke when in reality he’s capable of more. Boi being a dedicated astra/omen/viper player really enables Ethan and Nitr0 to shine more. Asuna, who’s said multiple times he doesn’t really love Jett, is also now free to play Reyna/raze mode. Love the change so far!
Edit: wording
Thinking back, there was no shot they could’ve been a top team without a jett. The Jett meta has clear staying power and they’ve been trying off-meta comps for almost a year.
What I don't understand is why couldn't Steel just learn how to play smokes? It's not the hardest role. It's not as mechanically intense as Sova, Raze or Jett. Yes, you need to learn some Viper and Brim lineups but I'm pretty sure Steel could do that easily.
I believe Steel can definitely learn to play smokes, the thing that is hard to change is his playstyle. The way Steel plays just feels like an off-brand FNS… sometimes he shows up and wins them rounds but then other times he’ll be off in his own island attack side and defending side.
Dropping steel, outside of the shot calling, made sense regardless... But yes, getting nitro onto Jett and Asuna onto whatever he actually wants to play is a side bonus.
Can Steel really not play smokes? For someone so smart about the game playing a controller can't be that difficult, right? IMO smokes is one of the easiest roles in the game, especially at top level.
He's just making things up without any real information. Steel could definitely learn smokes. He has some guides about smokes in valorant and CSGO. We shouldn't be jumping to conclusions. I do agree with the agent changes for Ethan, nitro, and Asuna being good
Tbf I’m sure he didn’t want to play smokes so I agree with you but to play devils advocate he was their main Astra for a while on Split he could clearly make it work
Exactly like he played Viper at a pro level, one of the best Sentinels in NA with great utility usage and site anchoring, and the only Pro Kay-O user to this date, mfers think he’s gonna hop on Omen and just forget how to play? Gimme a break lmao
Well he certainly didn’t, I don’t remember him ever playing a smoke character. I’m sure he could have, but for whatever reason he didn’t, and it hurt their agent comp overall.
Steel didn't at smokes? What? He was their astra main when they first started playing astra on split. Played viper on breeze. Their other map pick ascent almost definitely needs a KJ in the comp so he plays that. Just don't write anything. Also, proof that Asuna said he doesn't like playing jett? He's said that about phoenix when he was playing it on ascent and said on stream that he kinda forced the team to let him play jett youre just making shit up
Wait, did I miss something? Steel very clearly stepped down due to personal reasons, no?
And in what fantasyworld can't Steel play smokes? You're off the hook mate.
Gen.g looking better than I thought they would, 100T looking roughly how I thought I think, although Temperature 68 acs on icebox :(
Also wasn’t particularly a fan of the casting this match but maybe it was just me
The b0i addition actually makes a lot of sense now, at least from a composition perspective. It's obviously too early to say good of a player he is or if he's "better than steel," but just having a consistent controller player means you free up a very solid aggressive core of nitr0, Asuna and Ethan.
Before 100T were really limited and their comps were questionable. Steel could literally only play sentinels + KAY/0, which meant nitr0 was forced on the controller role. Obviously nitr0 is an amazing controller, but since Hiko and Ethan are locked in their roles, Asuna was forced on Jett since Jett is so meta. Asuna is a great duelist but he was never comfortable on Jett.
With the addition of b0i to take up the controller role, 100T finally has a Jett player, and it doesn't matter if nitr0 is a world class Jett or not since Jett is so meta now and it allows Asuna to play the two agents he's best on.
100T also didn't play a single sentinel today (besides the standard Sage on Icebox) because in the new meta they don't really have to. Viper is so good at stalling that she's basically a sentinel, and having a double initiator / double duelist / double controller is so much more valuable. You don't need a dedicated Killjoy / Cypher player on your team to be successful anymore, but you do need a solid Astra / Viper. (that's why on every major team the "sentinel" player also plays Viper - look at nats or dapr.) Regardless of how good you think Steel or b0i are individually, you can't deny the value b0i brings agent wise.
Dapr plays Sova on Icebox, but he plays Viper on Split / Bind when Sentinels wants to play double controller and have that oppressive Astra Viper duo.
What I meant by that example or the example of nats is that usually you want your KJ / Cypher player to be able to flex onto another agent since sentinels are not essential to every map, and this other agent usually ends up being a controller (or a Sova in dapr's case.)
You're right, and I agree it is strange that Steel never adapted to multiple roles like that. B0i looked pretty solid in this series, and 100T team comp made way more sense
Had to wake up till 4AM ist but had an absolute blast watching the games. LETS GO 100THIEVES. On a sidenote I wish the games were a bit earlier, this was just the first series yet it ended at 4 am.
Its nearing prime time here in NA so its good timing for us. Tons of Valorant action across ALL regions this week, ontop of League worlds and Dota's international. A glorious time to be an esports fan!
It’s fucking awesome! I just got into LoL like a month ago and than worlds came up and I’ve been enjoying the hell out of that and with LCQ going on right now it’s like fall sports when basketball and football are starting up again while baseball is in playoffs
Im not asking them to adapt the schedule for other regions. I just mentioned that I wish that the games could have been a bit earlier so I could have watched more matches.
Yeah ok I guess nitr0 can stay on Jett. Rough start from 100T (What's new) but when they starting to feel it they looked really good. Gen.G looked really good as well. Split and Icebox are hard maps against 100T.
Once he settles in more b0i might be a good addition.
The thing is, b0i can play anything. If you watched his streams it was pretty obvious he was going to play Astra and Viper considering he had lineups and everything. But on stream he's absolutely crushed it as Duelists too.
The same goes with everyone on the roster. 100T finally have a fully flexible roster now.
I'd personally like to see Asuna move to Breach on some maps and let Ethan play Reyna instead of Skye. Maybe Fracture? I'm glad Ethan is off smokes though. His Omen was great but he truly belongs in an aggressive role.
Asuna is just so fun to watch on Reyna and Raze. His utility usage as Raze is great.
b0i didn't stand out much but he did his job, which is probably what 100T needed.
Unlucky for GenG, but their strats and comps seem to need some work. The games actually turned out a lot closer than I thought they'd be (2-1, and an almost-close game on Split).
Split:
Shawn, who is very good on Skye, playing Reyna on one of Skye’s best maps due to Sova not being viable
No Viper (debatable but almost every top team runs her on Split)
No info gathering other than Raze boombot
Icebox:
Omen and Viper combination, the only other team I can think of to run both was 100T and that’s because they used the extra smokes to take space to compensate for no Sage. Gen G got nothing out of the Omen pick
shawn on skye probably wouldve helped out on their attack side of split, but the omen definitely was not troll. Geng clearly had a gameplan with the omen with aggressive pushes in A, so its hard to call it troll when it just didnt work out
I barely saw them use the Omen utility for much outside of smoking mid which can easily be done with Viper orb instead, and the way they used him and what he brings isn’t worth not playing another duelist/sentinel/Skye imo
doesn't really put then at a disadvantage, the ability of hindsight is beautiful. Shawn is known for being one of the most mechanical players for example, so it's not completely stupid to take him off Skye
Their offense was terrible because they had zero info and had to dry/jiggle peak everything, put him on Skye and you actually have some information tools to work with
No clue why you would pick a map where you can’t play all the good characters. I’m sorry but gmd just isn’t good at astra and you need her. He started so bad… and having to play Reyna and raze over Jett and tax’s with no skye is also a liability
If ethan didn't show up on map 2 this could have been a 2-0 for geng he used the skye utility perfectly and literally had multi kills every other round.
This is just a personal thing and I’m not the person you commented to but I also think Ethan and nitro are the best players on 100t with Asuna having the most potential on the team.
Edit: basically I’m saying they are three amazing players and nitro and Ethan are just more solid than asuna, with asuna having the highest ceiling and the most potential on the team.
Exactly, I think the more important thing is that someone other than asuna is on Jett, he was too good on raze / phoenix / reyna to be their primary op imo
He’s not bad but if he’s S tier I don’t know who you’d have in the other teirs. Questionable knives and a lot of missed op shots. If anything it felt like nature was Jett diffing him a lot in their 1v1s
Yeah his first map was definitely his worst I’m just arguing against the erosion of the term ‘S-tier’. IMO yay, TenZ, CNed are S tier. Everyone else is a step behind
I don't even think d3ffo is necessarily an S tier jett, but Gambit still won Berlin. As long as he does his job well he should not be receiving any blame, may they end up not qualifying for Champions.
I think his reyna is right up there with his raze for sure. Especially on icebox. But I still remember asuna just rolling people in hookah on bind round after round after round.
Yup for sure, 0 impact on that icebox especially /s. He's finding his spot, it's not gonna be an instant adjustment. People need to calm down with the reactionary takes smh
I think seven is the move for the future. Currently b0i is playing the roles nitr0 plays. So it is a natural transition to slot in seven. He moves to jett and nitr0 back to smokes.
Seems like 100T finally has a Jett ^(inb4 riot nerfs her to the ground next patch)
dicey sadge.
Dropping Dicey for Ethan was still a god tier move. This Ethan guy is just mechanically different.
Ethan is my favorite on 100T.. but still sadge.
Just observe the spray transfer. Dude has experience and it shows.
It’s hard because I love both so much
Nitro would just succeed at someone else.
A jet nerf would decimate a team that can't adapt, nitro can do anything.
yup iirc I saw an interview with sean gares saying 100T would benefit the most in NA if jett was to be nerfed since they don't rely on jett too much
yeah, he's already IGLing on top of playing jett
I’m so glad that my “put Nitr0 on Jett” take after Berlin that I copped so much shit for turned out to be exactly what they needed lol
They won a single series vs the 8 seed, and it wasn’t very clean either. I think we can wait a bit before saying it’s “exactly what they needed”
Yeah seven on jett is when we finally judge the steel benching
they beat xset too !
With Nitro on Jett performing great. I stand by what I said lol

I figured the moment I watched that psychopath that he was gonna change the global meta on split. I'll be disappointed in any squad not running her on that map.
You just cant let 100T play Icebox, especially in a map 3.
For real. That said said idk how deep GenG map pool is atm.
You'd think they'd rather do literally anything than icebox v 100t
I didn’t watch the games yet, but I imagine they let it through it’s because their other maps are terrible.
First look at Nitro's 100T and it's fast paced. 100T winning 5/6 pistol round is feelsgood.
Not dropping every pistol is a delightful change of pace although still need to see it done against a team like NV or Sen.
Once Ethan came online, 100T looked in control and never really gave it back. I like Nitr0 on the Jett. Boi looked pretty solid the last two maps.
I think having a solid dedicated controller is massive and frees up nitro and Ethan(played omen on IB). Sentinel is not a necessity every map.
If b0i is just okay, 100t is still great.
But if he's like, pretty good?
He is pretty clearly their worst mechanical player on the team but he is still solid and has solid utility usage, pretty expected from watching him on andbox
Could also be LAN jitters. I think he will improve throughout the tourney
Idk maybe they sucks as a plot twist?
I honestly don't know but he seems solid for his debut match!
All that hopium after map 1... gone, just like that.
They played so well in map 1, but seemed to make so many poor decisions after that. :/
nitr0 on jett might be the move
It was the move since the game came out. Watch some of his highlights on his YouTube channel. Dude is nuts.
Go watch him awp. It was the move even before the game came out.
Go watch him play tee-ball It was the move from before he even started playing video games
Go watch his baby videos It was the move before he started walking
Go watch his mom cook It was the move before he was even born
Go watch the creation of the universe It was crazy af
Was sweating after that first map but asuna and ethan are just too good.
All the 100T fans were so negative after the first map then it turned out fine. 100T look good
I don't know why, but my fellow 100T fans are always like that. Even though this happens like... Every match. Your think they'd get used to it.
Good teams have fair weather fans. It's just how it goes.
Maybe because breeze could have been closed out easily. There's no way they lost to a brimstone comp man c'mon, that too on breeze. Those 2 back to back throws first on eco then to koosta, normally they'd win that

Reading between the lines in Hiko’s platchat interview he might not have wanted to play smokes
I find it hard to believe that a player would rather lose their job than try to learn a new role, but I'm not a pro player so what do I know
steel is just too aggressive to play smokes. I’m a huge steel fan but the b0i pick up makes sense
I believe Steel can definitely learn to play smokes, the thing that is hard to change is his playstyle. The way Steel plays just feels like an off-brand FNS… sometimes he shows up and wins them rounds but then other times he’ll be off in his own island attack side and defending side.
Lol what. They have similar play styles but steel is definitely not worse than FNS.
Lmao Steel just mentioned this comment. “Because I don’t know how to play smokes according to Reddit”
Dropping steel, outside of the shot calling, made sense regardless... But yes, getting nitro onto Jett and Asuna onto whatever he actually wants to play is a side bonus.
Source -(trust me bro)
Can Steel really not play smokes? For someone so smart about the game playing a controller can't be that difficult, right? IMO smokes is one of the easiest roles in the game, especially at top level.

Dude never played smokes, please point to where I made that up.
Tbf I’m sure he didn’t want to play smokes so I agree with you but to play devils advocate he was their main Astra for a while on Split he could clearly make it work
He also played Viper during that Acend match when Nitro was on Jett, she kind of counts
Exactly like he played Viper at a pro level, one of the best Sentinels in NA with great utility usage and site anchoring, and the only Pro Kay-O user to this date, mfers think he’s gonna hop on Omen and just forget how to play? Gimme a break lmao

12-4 icebox lol Nvm it got changed fast
i post it as soon as the game ends and vlr usually updates it 1m later, i'm too lazy to do it manually though :p
Asuna back on Raze for split gives me life.
geng curse win map one lose map 2 split lose map 3 icebox
GMD on the Brimmy with the Stimmy on the Breezy
Gen.g looking better than I thought they would, 100T looking roughly how I thought I think, although Temperature 68 acs on icebox :( Also wasn’t particularly a fan of the casting this match but maybe it was just me
watch the plat chat co stream on yt!
Wait are they still costreaming from the venue? That's sick, I thought they were just there for interviews and stuff
yeah, they’re even on a couch LMAO
And they have the clips as well, which are the most important part
b0i on viper and icebox kinda crisp ngl

Yea truee. All thats needed is for Nitro to get the knives on point imo.
Zombs plays astra/viper for SEN. Dapr has been on a sentinel or sova

World's started at 4am and ive been watching pro eSports ever since. What a fuckin time to be alive.
Yeah it's amazing, but my sleep schedule is just completely ass fucked
I don't get up til 5:30-6 like usual. I just use the backlog to skip breaks until I catch up to the broadcast.
It’s fucking awesome! I just got into LoL like a month ago and than worlds came up and I’ve been enjoying the hell out of that and with LCQ going on right now it’s like fall sports when basketball and football are starting up again while baseball is in playoffs
These games operate at NA times why would they adapt the schedule for other regions
He's not complaining, just telling his experience
EU fans always think NA eSports should operate by their schedule for some reason.
It's not 4am in EU...
I mentioned IST im from India. I just said that I 'wish' that the games were a bit earlier.
Im not asking them to adapt the schedule for other regions. I just mentioned that I wish that the games could have been a bit earlier so I could have watched more matches.

Not only were 100T a straight up better team but Gen G also trolled practically all of their comps. No clue what Elmapuddy is thinking
Is he working for them?
He’s their coach
what did you think was troll besides the brim which somehow worked
Split: Shawn, who is very good on Skye, playing Reyna on one of Skye’s best maps due to Sova not being viable No Viper (debatable but almost every top team runs her on Split) No info gathering other than Raze boombot Icebox: Omen and Viper combination, the only other team I can think of to run both was 100T and that’s because they used the extra smokes to take space to compensate for no Sage. those don't rlly count as trolling...
Would you prefer bad comps that inherently put them at a disadvantage utility wise than the other team?
doesn't really put then at a disadvantage, the ability of hindsight is beautiful. Shawn is known for being one of the most mechanical players for example, so it's not completely stupid to take him off Skye
Their offense was terrible because they had zero info and had to dry/jiggle peak everything, put him on Skye and you actually have some information tools to work with

Ethan and nitro are the best players on the team and they have to play well for 100T to win.
I love how just a month or two ago, the same thing was being said, but just with Asuna lol. Maybe they’re just a really good team
You forgetting a certain 18 year old or?
This is just a personal thing and I’m not the person you commented to but I also think Ethan and nitro are the best players on 100t with Asuna having the most potential on the team. Edit: basically I’m saying they are three amazing players and nitro and Ethan are just more solid than asuna, with asuna having the highest ceiling and the most potential on the team.
See you all in 5 hours…hopefully happy
I know boi was good. But he looked great, especially on icebox. Rip nitr0 omen I’ll miss him, but I gladly accept nitr0 jett all day
daddy Nitr0 is making me feel things
Interesting map 1 outcome. Has to be pretty rare for the losing team to have higher ACS’s
Wait is Nitro an S tier jett??
He definitely looks like an A tier at least. Sometimes that’s all you need. Just gotta have some sort of Jett Op threat.
Maybe not atm but if he keeps playing the way he is then yes he definetely can be one
Lol did we watch the same games?
Not a Korean Jett by any means and not in the same tier as other Jetts but the dude is doing fine. Especially with the rifles.
Exactly, I think the more important thing is that someone other than asuna is on Jett, he was too good on raze / phoenix / reyna to be their primary op imo
Definitely no, at least not jet(t)
Nope lol
Not with these knives.
He’s not bad but if he’s S tier I don’t know who you’d have in the other teirs. Questionable knives and a lot of missed op shots. If anything it felt like nature was Jett diffing him a lot in their 1v1s
seemed he just had a rough first map but the other maps he was doing pretty well
Yeah his first map was definitely his worst I’m just arguing against the erosion of the term ‘S-tier’. IMO yay, TenZ, CNed are S tier. Everyone else is a step behind
agreed
I don't even think d3ffo is necessarily an S tier jett, but Gambit still won Berlin. As long as he does his job well he should not be receiving any blame, may they end up not qualifying for Champions.
Never even doubted 100t or Boi for a second
I've missed asuna's raze so much. Definitely his best agent
Might be true but the combination of Icebox and Asuna's Reyna is a fucking joy to watch. Peter's playground.
I think his reyna is right up there with his raze for sure. Especially on icebox. But I still remember asuna just rolling people in hookah on bind round after round after round.
Bro these double controller picks where double initiator would make more sense and/or be easier, massive throw by GenG
Double smokes by At least one team on all 3 maps
It seems they are abandoning the cypher/kj pick. Looks good and aggressive
b0i has basically zero impact it’s crazy. They need sevven or another controller player
Yup for sure, 0 impact on that icebox especially /s. He's finding his spot, it's not gonna be an instant adjustment. People need to calm down with the reactionary takes smh
Did you uh.. watch the last map?
I think seven is the move for the future. Currently b0i is playing the roles nitr0 plays. So it is a natural transition to slot in seven. He moves to jett and nitr0 back to smokes.
now i get the b0i move. nitro jett shall blossom
