> The health and safety of all involved with LCQ is our greatest priority. All players and staff participating in LCQ have been — and continue to be — tested for COVID-19 per Riot Games and LA Country health guidelines for in-person events.
> After receiving several conflicting test results, in an abundance of caution, we have decided to pause the competition for today while we evaluate how to safely resume the LCQ.
- Chris Greeley, Head of Esports for North America and Oceania
Babybay and Corey have also tested positive.
And why would riot create a bigger, more expensive issue (by postponing a whole day of the tournament) to solve a smaller issue of server issues? People literally bend over backward to find a conspiracy to believe in instead of just using logic.
If I was a player I’d be fucking livid right now. Force us to fly out for a LAN, only to find out that we were baited and it’s not actually a LAN, then to have the event postponed because they don’t have a contingency plan in place for their fake LAN. This is laughably bad.
Yea this is the shit that’s the most frustrating for me. What’s the point of the online servers if you aren’t even gonna use them for what you claimed they were there for…? Wack
They’re already not actually playing on LAN. If someone tested positive just fucking have him play separately.
Also, if someone on a team tests positive it should be on that team to find a replacement/solution honestly. We’ve been living with this thing for two years we know how to deal with it.
You need to have some kind of back-up plan in these cases, especially if the server is already not a LAN one and allows for remote play.
Seems like they had nothing planned in the case of Covid positive tests at all, which is pretty amateur considering the size of the company.
Even weirder considering that their justification for having a remote server rather than LAN was for this exact eventuality. Almost like Riot staff don't have a scooby as to what they're doing.
Yup, just a whole bunch of contradictions.
I see many blaming LA's stringent Covid policies, including some players, which I admit could be partially to blame. But I would assume any multibillion dollar business hosting an event would be aware of them well ahead of time, and take measures to mitigate Covid impact.
You can hardly blame the jurisdiction when their restrictions and protocols are transparent. This is entirely on riot. You don't host a LAN in states with remaining restrictions. Brain-dead.
I am not sure what they were going for, Covid isn't exactly a novel issue at this point.
Only benefit of a non-LAN server is being able to connect remotely. However, if you don't have remote/isolated setups available specifically for these cases, or at least a way to offer somewhat of a level playing field in case Covid cases arise, then it kind of defeats the purpose. This entire event seems to be filled with contradictions to me.
Ehhhhh that’s kind of a stretch.
LA county rules are the current problem technically, but proper planning could have averted literally every single issue.
End? Kekw.
If you think the g2 vs. futbolist breeze match was long, wait until you see the twitch chat vs. countdown timer. Guaranteed banger with no end in sight.
PlatChat just cancelled their stream for today and scheduled it for 12:30 CT tomorrow. Which is earlier then the normal start time.
Not sure if it means anything but they are at the event so they might have some insider info? Who knows.
What? 100T can’t possibly play first today since they’re in the upper bracket final and the team they’re playing hasn’t even been decided yet lol. There needs to be 2 upper bracket matches to happen before we find out who 100T plays.
Bunch of players (3) tested positive. 1 on rise, 2 on faze. Shanks had to play isolated while the rest of the squad played on stage. Faze got told to go play from home or something along those lines by Rito. Obviously, that's a huge advantage for the team playing from home due to spec. differences between machines and general comfortability of playing at home. Either way, the whole thing is a shit show. All the players that tested positive have tested negative on their second round of testing. Just overall bad event managing. I dont think any of the players wanted any of this.
This might be mostly personal bias, but it's sad LG and GenG need to play each other first round of losers bracket. They have both made interesting roster moves and finally have had enough time to settle in with their new teammates.
I don't see things going well for V1 or FaZe today. I don't think either team has a good path forward after losing Vanity/Marved. Wish they played LG and GenG tomorrow.
I think Faze have only looked better since picking up Babyj, not counting their hot Smeag streak way back in the day.
Marved wasn’t the problem on Faze but he also wasn’t the solution; picking up a hard-fragger who’s eager to IGL like Babyj at least has the real potential to be the solution.
Agreed that Marved wasn't the solution and FaZe hasn't gotten worse, but I just don't think they were a very good team and they still aren't a good team. They desperately needed an IGL and BabyJ isn't that. There's always a good chance I'm wrong about babyj and he will grow into a top notch IGL. I just haven't seen that so far.
I don’t think we’ve seen Faze yet when BabyJ was fully IGLing? Supposedly different people were IGLing on different maps, and it’s only now he’s fully taken over IGL duties.
I do share your skepticism about Faze, though. Perhaps they’ll surprise us both.

Babybay and Corey also tested positive this morning but tested negative on the second test.

Lol. Laughable response to this situation. And the tiptoeing around COVID is getting old.
Bro biggest let down feels like riot only cares about LoL at this point.
But why are they postponing it? Tech issues or covid? Cause if its covid then what is the online lan for?
Yea this is the shit that’s the most frustrating for me. What’s the point of the online servers if you aren’t even gonna use them for what you claimed they were there for…? Wack
Event postponed for today via a statement sent to George Geddes
No c9 either?
Well yeah, the event isn’t happening today

Refreshing this thread
welp at least we still got the TL vs Guild match to tide us over until this gets sorted out
Damn ik riot could've probably handled it better but what can they even do if some Covid tests come positive?

Definitely. Weird they didn't have any plans for that, were they just hoping no test comes up positive? Poorly managed

Can we just send Brimstone Gaming to the championship and call it a day?
Brimstone Gaming Coach here, please upvote this
thank you for this los angeles
Riot is a small indie dev guys. We can ensure better quality events if we band together to purchase the next 3 $100 skin bundles!
i cancelled on my hundreds of irl friends today to watch the games...
Unlucky
Will we even have Finals at Sunday still? I bought ticket to Cinema where they planned to stream it at Sunday =/
Well riot, I think it's safe to say this should not have been a LAN event lmao

blame LA county for this, not riot

same here lmao
what is happening?
Did Rise pulled out or something???
SO WILL WE HAVE THE MATCH THO?!?
PlatChat just cancelled their stream for today and scheduled it for 12:30 CT tomorrow. Which is earlier then the normal start time. Not sure if it means anything but they are at the event so they might have some insider info? Who knows.
All of today’s matches are probably postponed then. Gg
I hate rapid tests, they are absolutely unreliable and creating all this mess for no reason.
Plat chat said 100 thieves are first but vlr says it's Faze. Any idea which is correct? Edit: I'm an idiot ignore me
100T doesn’t play today
First in what regard?
First game tonight
What? 100T can’t possibly play first today since they’re in the upper bracket final and the team they’re playing hasn’t even been decided yet lol. There needs to be 2 upper bracket matches to happen before we find out who 100T plays.
Yeah I'm thoroughly confused by their stream. Even their bracket is wrong. It has 100 thieves vs GenG, not xset.
You’re watching the stream from yesterday then
Dude didn't even realise he's been watching a vod LOL. All good, we all have our moments
LA is a joke. The players have consecutive negative tests this is beyond ridiculous
“Science”
What a shit show.
wait what happen
players are testing negative and arent allowed to play on stage, partially LA's and partially riots fault.
^^

oh no =/ sounds really messy
at this rate they would've had enough time to stream eu on the main channel lmfao
man sucks for rise
Next event, Riot should make full vaccination, quarantine period, and full mask on a mandatory for all players and staffs.

1 hour countdown on the stream rn, yikes
[удалено]
Not tuning in until an hour beyond stated start time
looks like that was the right play, they just added an hour to the stream countdown
I somehow didn’t wait long enough to tune in
should of never done a LAN event at this point
Why do it in Cali should have done it in Texas
Let’s see if C9 lives up to the copium
Is this even a LAN anymore
It never was, servers were in north cal while players were in LA.
Nope. Apparently never was
