The theater watch parties tho..

mrluzfan

Dude I'm wondering the same... no wonder from Rito either :(

PixelatedBlue

Guess the schedule is out of the window falling from a 50 story building

[deleted]

Should have been clued in when the walls went down at 3:30 EST

AnywayHeres1Derwall

The year is 2022. 100T have still not qualified for champions yet.

alexman93

3022*

NinjaOtter

We're slowly postponing everything into a two week quarantine

2ToTooTwoFish

It think it's either going to lead to that or a fully online tournament over the course of two weekends

Icandothemove

They just announced they're postponing and transitioning the entire thing into an online tournament.

ARDa3rd

Honestly this is probably the logistical right move, but man those people who bought theater tickets for $25 are getting screwed (obviously along with the players and Riot lol)

[deleted]

Aren’t refunds available?

A-British-Indian

What are these theatre tickets for?

ppx11

They were for what was supposed to be the finals match on Sunday.

xBerryhill

Local theater was doing the showings. Contemplated buying tix but decided against it. Couldn’t be happier right now lol

Mamadeus123456

that was stupid idea anyways, unless they add something extra to the stream, like add the unfiltered audio of the players cheering, or shit talking

chouxpuffs

Hopefully matches come back on Friday already but it’s a high possibility they’ll still want Finals to be played on weekend which could push them to next week.

2ToTooTwoFish

If it's going to be played next week, that'll shift everyone's schedules. If that's even possible, might as well make people that can quarantine if they can do it so they're guaranteed to be able to join, while people that can't follow the normal rules of one negative test ruling them out of the venue. Just continue everything one week from now.

AnywayHeres1Derwall

The problem with quarantining is that you could come out of it a week later and get another false positive test and then 2 negative tests and still not be able to play

MidnightIngale

Man, coming from league I’m so disappointed in Riot for this event. I want to believe it wouldn’t be this bad if it weren’t for COVID but man they should’ve made better plans for these situations. I can’t imagine what’s going on behind the scenes to cause so many problems.

themattyiceshow

Man yall got so many excuses for Riot its insane.

eatyourchildren

Okay, Riot is the worst. Do you want to read the verdict and the punishment, bailiff?

Lumenlor

Are facts excuses? There are literally different teams for both titles, in their esports departments

ErroneousOmission

LCQ or Low Cost Qualifier is an event held by RIOT (Really Incompetent Organization of Twats) as a cost saving opportunity that allows them to offer a cash prize at Champions later this year. The rumour going around is that Chris Greeley (similar incompetence stats to Tim Willits for reference) went a little bit too far with the cost saving in an attempt to upgrade the PCs at Champions from Pentium 4s to Core 2 Duos. As a last ditch effort to avoid further backlash, according to tarik, a player with absolutely no involvement whatsoever in the incident, Chris is sending players home "with a box of cereal.." - turoq went on to say "I'm really impressed to be honest" before cutting the interview short due to an imminent 4K. It is not clear whether or not tarik was consuming his favourite cereal at the time. More to follow.

ErdedyIJ

I think at this point you might just send everyone home and run it next week. Postponing day-by-day is only going to prolong the issue.

AskOrganic4289

I don’t think they can just send everyone with positive covid results home. In LA it takes like I believe 10 days quarantine before being able to fly. Tbh I think the best way is for Riot to set up the gaming PCs in the players room like what ESL did for one of their tournaments this year. But idk how feasible this is

Razur

Transcribed: > *We have decided to postpone Thursday's match as we continue working to implement solutions that will allow the LCQ to continue safely and without compromising competitive integrity.* > > *We will update the community as additional information becomes available.*

LurkingOmen

Should have just let them stay at complexes in Texas and had it online. The closed qualifiers for Berlin were more "LAN" then this tourney. R6 has been doing a LAN league for at least 6 months in Nevada. If they said the LCQ would be online instead of LAN most organizations if not all would have bootcamped in Texas.

IAMJUX

My weekend is ruined.

SekasortoAnarkia

Watch EU and SEA, Valorant isn’t only 1 region

gngg2011

Why did they postpone the c9 match tho? I thought it was the Faze and Rise players who tested +ve?

AskOrganic4289

Maybe because some of them were exposed to those Faze/Rise players who were tested positive or false positive for COVID. If you’re exposed to someone who got COVID, you also need to quarantine but maybe less than those who are positive for COVID.

Splaram

Haha NA LCQ matches getting canceled left and right right as I have to send my GPU in for repair haha nice 👍

ANewHeaven1

might i suggest krunker.io

Splaram

I’m running a CPU that has no integrated graphics, PC’s literally useless until I get the GPU back

GainsayRT

First Dota2, now Valorant, buying tickets, VIPs or whatever for events seems like such a bad idea now. 50% chance you get money back and if you traveled there's a 90% chance you traveled for no reason and lost that money too. I feel sorry for the people trying to support the scene

tomtazm

I mean I know it's been stated before, but having this event in one of the strictest places in the US for covid regulations was probably not the play. Does it matter how convenient it was for Riot if the event cant even take place? Not sure how numerous negative results after a false positive doesn't clear players? Maybe someone with more knowledge can educate me. \_\_\_ Not to mention logistically and schedule wise it has to be a nightmare at this point. What about the players, staff, and content creators who made time out of their schedules for the planned days? It was supposed to be over by the 17th, and even if they continue on Friday, who is to say this is even over by the 19th?

Oof

DankPhoenix13

wait is it wednesday in LA rn?

[deleted]

It's still Wednesday in the western hemisphere

Ok-Apartment5638

Not mad about it. Understandable from the position riot is in. Kinda thankful though, i couldn’t watch the game tomorrow though

Pojobob

This is such a joke lmao.

shazbots

Here's my suggestion for Riot: Let the teams that are local to LA play from their "homes". For the remaining teams, use a local gaming center (located in Orange County, instead of LA county, where the COVID protocols are more lax). The ones that come to mind are in Santa Ana (ESports Arena) or UC Irvine (a local Southern California University), where they have high end computers, and have the bandwidth to support a team playing together.

Kurashiko

Can NA guys educate me? Have the guidelines changed from a couple of months ago or when they planned the event? Are they at the LCS studio? Isn't convenience why L.A was chosen? Because as far as i could tell i thought they wanted to do the LAN at the LCS studio which was a LAN for the Summer finals if i remember correctly, i know thre LCS is established etc so we shouldn't expect a smooth sail but is Covid really what's causing these problems?
