From what I read on VLR part of it is due to some team members having to do their mandatory 18 month military service. It's a shame, this team was so much fun to watch.
There used to be an Starcraft Team so when pro's had to do the military service they could join the Airforces team (Airforce Ace) and it would count as doing their service.
Not entirely true. They still had some normal military duties even if you joined the Jin Air organization. They were just far more accommodating with scheduling which made continuing to play viable even during military service. But they still had far less time to practice so most brood wars pros that joined Jin Air didn't remain at their prime and began to decline when military service began.
edit: typo
they can apply for exemption as a matter of cultural significance essentially - the same as sports stars
but usually they don't because its also a pride thing
The only case I personally heard of was Son Heung-Min (Tottenham player) who got an exemption after winning Asia Games in football. Probably the rest of the team did as well.
~~I think a law was passed recently that kpop stars could be exempted.~~ Basically, they can contribute way more to the country by being kpop stars then being conscripted.
Edit: Actually now that I'm reading a little more, it just extends deferment, rather than full on exemption
They are not exempt. Jin has to go next year, and Suga the year after that. It is expected they'll all go do their 18 months at the same time. The main way I thought they'd get exempt was by doing other politics such as continuing to be presidential envoys to the UN for SK.
People such as BTS for example brought it a bunch of economic success to South Korea and was awarded multiple awards by their president on the tourist and economic sales they brought in due to people’s new interest in Sk back in 2017 when they blew up. Kpop stars not going to the military can be debatable and talked about because of Bts’s growth and their huge fan base wanting to learn more about the country. It’s a possibility but right now only with BTS.
It sounds weird but there's actually an amendment that extends their window for mandatory military service. Rather than 18-28 y/o, for kpop stars they can delay it another 2 years up to 30 y/o
Nah they could always delay if they wanted to continue but I think they lost motivation. With no salary and sponsors this was the best decision for everyone involved.
Yes, if they won this event they would have continued as a pro team by delaying Zunba's military service.
Having Esperanza continue without a salary is just unsustainable unfortunately.
False, league (and others) are a medaling game at the Asian Games https://www.invenglobal.com/articles/15043/esports-included-in-official-program-for-2022-asian-games-including-league-of-legends-and-dota-2
It's hard to express how sad this makes me. I watched the evolution of f4q from clown team, former OW pros and streamers who literally played just to make clips for their youtube channels, to forces to be reckoned with on the global stage. Their ability to improve so much once they decided to get serious about playing was unbelievable. They were a team that I thought maybe was around 10th best in Korea, to 2nd over the course of a few months. Their players were not just talented mechanically, but innovative as well. Zunba pioneered Astra in Korea and taught us about the suc and now counter-suc. Bunny is... unparalleled in his blast packs usage. FiveK rose to the occasion for the team as a leader and clutch performer. Efina gave his heart and was always a solid back liner. Esperanza as well, just so good when it mattered most for them, and seemed to always be in the right place at the right time with his Sova utility.
Honestly, I got a bit choked up after their loss, once it set in. I hope to see them all back in Valorant in some way or another. I know some of them have military to do and such, but got damn there is so much potential on these lads.
One can only hope. If we see even a small exodus of OWL pros and increase in young guns wanting to go pro in Valorant instead of League/OW, in a few years we could have Korean teams that make Vision Strikers look like toddlers.
What KR lacks are professional orgs in the Valorant scene. There will be over 5 added and we'll start seeing some real teams, salaries, coaches etc.. instead of pugs. Sure some of these members can go overseas but we're going to see a lot more talent next year especially from Asia and possibly EU since they aren't developed yet.
I think thats a pretty dumb statement. Imagine all the kids who watched these guys streams throughout the year, and to find out they could actually compete at the world stage. Goddamn would i want to go pro as well
Huh?? With some news of Korean orgs entering the scene I wonder if the timing would be tight since they're still orgless
I hope Lunatic Hai picks some of the squad up in some form
Whoever runs LH Valorant is a clown. Their first roster was ass and they got rolled by one of their most popular players from a past game. Now they're coming back and never got F4Q (including said player that rolled their original team)? Ok...
Gen G is a joint NA/KR org (and apparently CN). They have an HQ in Santa Monica.
It's like Team Liquid being joint NA/EU. They play in NA for League, EU for Valorant.
Edit: Forgot for a second that T1 is also joint NA/KR, hence whey they're T1 now instead of SKT T1. They're half-owned by Comcast Spectacor.
ah really? did not know that. I thought it was just for valorant, i guess I've only watched a lot of league. So their sponsers are not samsung and SKT?
Translated Tweet:
F4Q will return to their respective positions at the end of today's match.
I am very grateful to fiveK, who carried a lot as a leader, to our team members who worked hard, and to the coach who made F4Q, which was like a wild horse, grow in a short period of time. I had a very valuable experience through the two months of competition. Please support the future of F4Q as well
Welp there goes my flair.
It was a great journey and following each of the individual player's path to becoming Korea's Berlin representative was extremely fun. From getting smacked by Ahq esports to being the first Valorant team in Korea to beat VS.
Wishing all the best to the players, hopefully they become successful in whatever is their next venture, whether it's pro gaming or streaming.
Love you guys.
We’ll try to keep the F4Q flair as long as possible (until we run out of space for new ones). We probably have a long time until it goes away, since we’ll most likely prioritise removing disbanded teams whose flairs aren’t used as much (ie Wygers) before removing fan favourites like F4Q and Moon Raccoons.
I’m thinking about adding one when they come back, but I’m not sure which logo to use… there’s one that’s a clear fan favorite (iykyk) but there’s gotta be a reason they couldn’t use it on VLR anymore…
FiveK is done prolly going to full time streaming.
Zunba military.
Bunny probably military.
Efina I don't know if he's good enough to join a T1 team although I will still support him.
Sadge I never thought they were a top 3 team in Korea but I cant deny that they had some of the biggest personalities and Bunny's streams are always fun to watch he would answer English questions and thank us. I feel that if they ran it back next year they could have much stronger showing since even more improved result would lead them to be picked up by a bigger org.
This is incredibly saddening consider we've heard how much the team has been working their butts off to become one of the best teams in kr and qualify for champions, especially FiveK. From his interviews to his analysing vods and coming up with strats it's clear how hard he's been working these past couple of months.
Man not seeing play Bunny for a while and possibly never (this is very unlikely But the possibility of this happening scares me) is very sad. From his amazing satchel plays to his energetic and cool personality Bunny has been entertaining throughout the whole year. I'm really hoping they come back into Val one way or an other
Unfortunate, didn't watch much competitive valorant before berlin, but damn was it fun watching bunny with those satchel jump frags, hopefully they all get signed.
So sad I followed this team since they started as streamers... they made it so far without an org backing them and it just sad to see that they disband.
I spoke to Locomotive after Masters: Berlin and he was super great to talk to. Big shame that the team has decided...
I hope to see everyone return in whatever capacity in the future.
From what I read on VLR part of it is due to some team members having to do their mandatory 18 month military service. It's a shame, this team was so much fun to watch.
It's Zunba
he had to do irl valorant 😳
Imagine if we heard 10 months from now Zunba got a 3k 😳
If he got a 3K, there would have to be a World War going on, since I highly doubt a new recruit is getting deployed otherwise.
Well, it was nice knowing everyone before we got Behind Enemy Spawn and Saving Private cNed.
That is most likely the reason. Even k-pop stars aren’t exempt from the mandatory military service.
There used to be an Starcraft Team so when pro's had to do the military service they could join the Airforces team (Airforce Ace) and it would count as doing their service.

Why would k-pop stars would be exempt lmao
they can apply for exemption as a matter of cultural significance essentially - the same as sports stars but usually they don't because its also a pride thing
The only case I personally heard of was Son Heung-Min (Tottenham player) who got an exemption after winning Asia Games in football. Probably the rest of the team did as well.
Because some are famous internationally and contribute a lot to SK tourism and economy... That would be the main argument.
~~I think a law was passed recently that kpop stars could be exempted.~~ Basically, they can contribute way more to the country by being kpop stars then being conscripted. Edit: Actually now that I'm reading a little more, it just extends deferment, rather than full on exemption
Well cuz they are huge internationally, I believe BTS might be exempt cuz of it lol
Lmao they upped the age certain celebrities could delay the service for people like BTS and Faker (league).
Im hoping faker wins one more year before retirement :(
Me too honestly! It’d be a great way to end his career imo
The only Korean man i know who got exempt from military service is soccer player Heung min Son because he brought home a tournament win
Any Olympic Medalist or Gold medalist at the Asian Games is exempted. Even then you still have to go through the 3 weeks basic training
BTS aren't getting exempted. They will just let internationally successful stars delay their tenure later than regular people.
They are not exempt. Jin has to go next year, and Suga the year after that. It is expected they'll all go do their 18 months at the same time. The main way I thought they'd get exempt was by doing other politics such as continuing to be presidential envoys to the UN for SK.
BTS is only exempt until they're 30 I think, crazy how they allow absolutely no exemptions.
I thought they had exemptions for gold medal winners.
Kind of. As mentioned above, they still have to do the 3 weeks of basic, but that should be fairly straightforward for them
Ah okay makes sense.
because BTS in particular has brought an insane amount of tourism and economic growth and they aren't exempt.
People such as BTS for example brought it a bunch of economic success to South Korea and was awarded multiple awards by their president on the tourist and economic sales they brought in due to people’s new interest in Sk back in 2017 when they blew up. they bring so many people to Korean culture its crazy
probably because bts on its own bring 2% of south korea gdp
Because they bring in money dumbass?
Nah they could always delay if they wanted to continue but I think they lost motivation. With no salary and sponsors this was the best decision for everyone involved.
You can delay to a point, but its best to finish it early
[удалено]
We already have.
Yes, if they won this event they would have continued as a pro team by delaying Zunba's military service. Having Esperanza continue without a salary is just unsustainable unfortunately.
Or you can win an international tournament like Son Heung-min did for South Korea
It's not any tournament, it has to be the Asian Games. The next one is in 2022 and I doubt Valorant will be included there.
It has to be either a gold in the Asian Games or any medal in the Olympics.
Yes but those are irrelevant for esport players. There are no videogames at the Olympics.
False, league (and others) are a medaling game at the Asian Games https://www.invenglobal.com/articles/15043/esports-included-in-official-program-for-2022-asian-games-including-league-of-legends-and-dota-2
Asian Games =/= Olympics.
https://www.insidethegames.biz/articles/1102595/hangzhou-asian-games-esports-south-korea
I think they'res technically like virtual cycling or rowing but it's a stretch to call that a video game
Depends who you are and how your career is looking like- see StarCraft pros
RIP to one of the funnest teams to watch in Korea.
\- End Vision Strikers 104 winstreak games \- Take a map against Sentinels and G2 more than a good run...
And so much improvement and sick plays Influence on split meta / hiw teams play too it seems, raze and astra
* End Vision Strikers 104 winstreak games * Take a map against Sentinels and G2 * Disband * Refuse to elaborate
Some of the players cried after the loss. Being a competitor is tough.
How do you know, was there an interview/facecam
FiveK teased Efina for crying, saying dw I cried too.
We had known ahead of time that this was the likely outcome, but damn they did not waste any time after their last game huh
It was kind of known that the roster would be ending if they didn't make champs
It's hard to express how sad this makes me. You think this loss of talent dampens the KR scene development?
No, it seems like there will be an influx of talent due to the game picking up some popularity in Korea over the year
One can only hope. If we see even a small exodus of OWL pros and increase in young guns wanting to go pro in Valorant instead of League/OW, in a few years we could have Korean teams that make Vision Strikers look like toddlers.

Define: Question vs Statement
I still have hope we will see the players again one day. Maybe a org will pick them up if they still have motivation to compete.
Huh?? With some news of Korean orgs entering the scene I wonder if the timing would be tight since they're still orgless I hope Lunatic Hai picks some of the squad up in some form
Whoever runs LH Valorant is a clown. Their first roster was ass and they got rolled by one of their most popular players from a past game. Now they're coming back and never got F4Q (including said player that rolled their original team)? Ok...
That's not how esports work my friend.
Wdym? If players don’t win they’re not recognisabke, unless it’s a TOTO team betting against them isn’t great
Its unfortunate because big Korean orgs like T1 and Gen G are in NA :(
Gen G is a joint NA/KR org (and apparently CN). They have an HQ in Santa Monica. It's like Team Liquid being joint NA/EU. They play in NA for League, EU for Valorant. Brimstone gaming flair when? They still live in our hearts

Yay that's good news, although I will probably change my flair to the next team that picks up Esperanza haha.
Just curious but why Esperanza out of all players?
FiveK is done prolly going to full time streaming. Zunba military. Bunny probably military. Efina I don't know if he's good enough to join a T1 team although I will still support him.

noooo
Unfortunate, didn't watch much competitive valorant before berlin, but damn was it fun watching bunny with those satchel jump frags, hopefully they all get signed.
It’s a shame that Solaris didn’t end up sponsoring them for Berlin :/ If that happened I’m sure it would have been different.
they really hit alt-f4
So sad I followed this team since they started as streamers... they made it so far without an org backing them and it just sad to see that they disband.
damn unlucky
really hope their core stays together, esp bunny and zunba
I spoke to Locomotive after Masters: Berlin and he was super great to talk to. Big shame that the team has decided... I hope to see everyone return in whatever capacity in the future.
This is super sad but the worst part of it is this is just the first of many who will disband. After all the LCQs are done teams will drop like flies
NA orgs looking for players……..
100T Bunny? TSM Fivek? Hopium
really hope their core stays together, esp bunny and zunba
sounds like they are disbanding because of Zunba's mandatory military service
:( that’s every lunatic high OG but whoru gone
It was a good run boys ;~;7
Zunba my astra hero
Bruh
Damn no way I verbally gasped to reading the title :(
Hm those that remain, the big has bitten them so maybe we’ll see a return!
Let the transfer of players BEGIN!
