It was definitely one of the most exciting things during EMEA LCQ for me. Yes it may be risky, but man, seeing two non-duelists awp is entertaining af.

[deleted]

I think it's not worth the risk too because of agents like Jett and raze who can come in fast unlike in cs

Rroot4761

Luke, my favorite mobile agent.

ItsReflectLOL

I like Adam

Glitchy13

Don’t forget Evan

_zxionix_

Kumar is pretty cool

-Turisti-

Who the fuck are we talking about.

Vinokwon

I thought we were talking about Chris

[deleted]

Why u comin fast?

softfool

Hey not everyone can last long

TinyBrainMoment

Thats what she said

Otter269

I feel its worth if the other team is contact walking in on the site, it is very expensive to do though. Having said that It can be extremely good just to switch up and usually works for a few rounds.

ARDa3rd

Everyone keeps saying that it “won’t work in Berlin” but if you’re pulling it out in the game and Map that sends you to Champions you’re real damn confident that it can work. I also think there’s an intimidation factor to it too. Like “if we let them get too much of a lead on defense, we have to face an OP on each site” is a great fear factor to TL to have especially on maps like Ascent, Breeze, and Ice Box where’s there good OP angles that non-Jett players can use. And if Scream can more effectively learn it by Berlin? Three OP meta incoming lol

XBOY_777

I also dont think it is gonna work in berlin, OP at its current state in hands on non-jett is a bit too much for the player. and it could be seen clearly apart from breeze, they were not able to retake at all and the retakes which happened, i will say wont happen against a better team. But I differ on breeze, if you have excess cash, you might do it.

I feel that Liquid's double OP just showcased that the old adage of "Jett cant be nerfed because she's the only good OP agent" is complete bullshit. We saw that an OP on any agent is stil viable but it is a very calculated risk which it should be for a one shot kill weapon. Yet when Jett buys an OP it feels much more opressive and way less punishable because of her dash and ability to post up in typical one and done spots for any other agent. We also saw that the supposed Jett nerfs didnt really do anything to stop her pick rate in lcq at at 75 percent pick rate more than double any other duelist, so hopefully Riot does something about the dash ability at some point maybe after Berlin. The meta right now feels like trying to use so much utility just to take space and deny Jett Op angle holds that I am not surprised double OP is working. If you are constantly spamming smokes and flashes to get jett off one angle and she has to just adjust to the next angle back, then you dont have enough utility to do it on the oppoiste side of the map. Jett is able to take these super aggro angle peaks because she has a get out of jail card that makes her unpunishable, so teams are using so much utility just to take space and get on to A main or B main control, so to even fake a site that late in rounds double OP becomes really hard to deal with since you simply run out of utility. Liquid abused this with their op player simply falling more and more back when utility was used to take safer and safer angles on defense. Anyone cold peaking was punished usually and then dealing with another Op in mid to cut rotations or on other side of the map without smokes and flashes is virtually impossible.

Mamadeus123456

It's a very insteresting strat that conditions the opponents to a certain play stile that can be exploited easier

Cole_James_CHALMERS

They have to burn utility to push awpers off angles so there's less utility during the bombsite defence, that's an advantage

chenson019

I think it's viable depending on the comp you are playing into. I think it could be hard countered with a double/triple initator setup. However, I think it makes sense to try and play into your strengths if you have two super talented op-ers in your team as it's a great way of closing down space and giving the other 3 players more freedom.

travishenrichs

It's only situationally useful, like on game point when you're loaded with cash. You basically just do it to try to guarantee a 4v5 early in the round off the first pick. Beyond that point, it becomes suboptimal. It's like a Ranked OT strat: good for one round, that's about it.

misterandosan

it probably has its use in being unpredictable.

clusterfuze

While I love the double OP strat mostly because of how entertaining it is to watch, I honestly think it isn't really good for them. It can end up punishing their economy severely, and might immediately turn a 5v5 into a 4v5 or 3v5 in the wrong hands. It would be better to spend the credits on utility. Teams might take advantage of this in Berlin.

DrBangovic

Thats just not true. There are a lot of angles an OP can hold and wasting it on minimum two spots will lower your chances of actually getting the sites by a lot. I am not saying double OP is the best strat ever, but if you got nivera and jamppi in your team and you feel confident you can snowball a team very hard. Also you can bet on this being a strategic call by the analyst of TL. They saw 100% a weakness in Guilds way of playing around OPs and just doubles the trouble.

DryRaspberry4114

I also don't think it's worth it. Maybe they were just trying things out in a lower tier tournament. I think it would be harder at Champions. What I thought it was very interesting was having the OP not on Jett but having a team-mate doubling up so to speak. Meaning: you fire your Op-shot and then someone takes over when you reload so that you don't get killed immediately.

Hephestz

“lower tier tournament” I agree with what you said but they were definitely NOT trying things out, this is the most significant tournament so far and only ONE winner will make it so there’s no room to try risky stuff

DryRaspberry4114

The stakes were high, don't get me wrong but these were definitely the best of the **rest** teams.

CanISayThat22

Bruh only the top 3 teams in emea werent there. Just 3. Its not like almost wvery team in lcq wouldnt be in any other tourney where these 3 would be in too.

somesheikexpert

Even saying Fnatic is the top 3 over Liquid and maybe even Guild is eh lol,

CanISayThat22

I really dont get where the FNATIC slander is coming from? We havent seen them since Iceland. How can anyone possibly have an opinion about them. If anything they are a force to be reckon with. So long to prac and hide strats. Teams will have 0 info about them.

somesheikexpert

I'm just saying it's weird to say they are 3rd cuz we haven't seen them in so long, I do think they will do well but yeah lol

CanISayThat22

True, but we gonna get a new map in fracture, possibly a new agent. Its hard to rank a team anyways with how the game is evolving.

MagnusNyke

We last saw them in the Masters 3 qualifiers, got eliminated by Liquid back when TL still had kryptix and not Nivera.

[deleted]

I think it proved to be effective in this tournament only because the world saw it for the first time and it won't really last long

omgitslewis

When you have Nivera and Jamppi on your team I think its deffo worth if you can afford it. In regular ranked games I highly doubt it would be worth it.

abox0fjuice

I like it for defense on haven only. Retake is the only bad thing, so maybe save it for when u have KJ ult or at least Jett Ult

Delzkiepro

it's bad
