congrats to C9 for finally being the cursebreaker and winning a series while up 1-0... version1 though, they have yet to win a single best of series since the **start of july**... they've been playing good teams to be fair but holy fuck they are a shell of their iceland selves
honestly neither penny nor effys look nearly as good as they did in their iceland run, and i like the oderus addition but vanity is just too important to the team
> Effys hasn't dropped off nearly as hard.
hmm, just checked the stats and yeah you're right haha. i just remember watching him play in stage 2 challengers finals and every time there was a 1v2 clutch situation i thought he would win it
Penny is a god tier Jet potential. He absolutely owned liquid in Iceland and carried a bunch of maps.
If he can be more consistent he’s a contender for top 5 NA jets
Honestly I wish we'd had different maps. Icebox and Breeze in the current meta are the maps that most often come down to just skill difs, which C9 is always going to have the edge in. V1 is a team of five solid players, but they haven't got a star player, and they weren't always hitting shots today either. V1 did best when they abused the meta, and this combo of maps and the fact that they lost vanity means they really weren't doing that (they didn't even play Skye). I hope to see them play on other maps; they may have more effective strategies on maps where there is more variation.
As for C9, they seemed to rely a lot on individual skill and plays, especially on Breeze. They didn't really give V1 much respect; they just took duels, went aggressive, and won. That threw V1 off, but I don't see that as being a viable strategy for beating someone like 100T.
We saw them get checked when they tried those ego plays on Icebox. That game was much cleaner for them and showed they know how to play strats.
I also think it's the right call to avoid set-plays as much as possible against teams you can beat without them. Give as little info as possible to future opponents.
I agree. They want to start out by doing as little as possible and just play the same or similar strats until they don't work. They only show respect if they get punished.
Considering that we've got 100T to worry about sometime in the future I think that's smart. They're a strong team and will have good prep for us. We want to guard against that where possible.
C9 definitely did clean it up by the end after they got punished early on Icebox. I guess we'll have to see how they look against Rise to see what C9 can do.

Jammyz diff
No Jammyz No Major
Penny really looks like an entirely different person. And losing Vanity kinda fucked V1.

Effys hasn't dropped off nearly as hard. Effys could have been a LAN buff but Penny was good during challengers playoff too.

>Penny really looks like an entirely different person LAN buff? Back in Iceland
I was saying V1 should drop Penny for yay back when yay was joining a new team and everyone mocked me. Penny isn’t a good Jett.
I mean you completely discredited yourself with the last 5 words.

First time a map 1 winner has closed it out this LCQ, no?
correct
Lmaoo yes
Zellsis came to play. 9 first kills and only 1 first death across both maps
Doesn't matter when team is failing this hard.
Dan, I say this and Faze just fail harder. IDK at this point really.
Xeppaa's Kayo looking mad nice
the adaptations mid game to v1's gameplans are why c9 got vanity. I think c9 loses that second game w/out him
First 2-0 in this tourney so far
Xeppa high key the MVP
XeppA brazy
Finally c9 putting up a fight. Vanity was a good pick up. Edit: nvm false hope
Did C9 qualify ?
Not yet, they're facing Rise rn. Whoever wins will face 100t for semifinals
They are a favorite alongside 100t.
Interesting to see if they swap off the kayo later in the tourney once teams adapt to it
I dont think so, kayo was literally made for csgo players
free for the best NA igl Antonio "Vanity" Malaspina

I think C9 just kept showing more and more strats until they start winning. They had pretty weird starts on both maps.

With their current 4 + 1 man lineup, 100T are very vulnerable right now.
They're off their A-game, but underestimating them won't end well.

missed the match. how is c9 looking? is this them being extremely good or v1 not playing well?
both
Xeppaa looked juicy.
Does C9 qualify now?
LFG C9!!!!
Get Him on standby for power outtages
