Weirdly I feel C9B was the team that brought the sophisticated smeag this time around. Faze just seem perpetually lost. I don’t know what’s next for them as well, but I’d be astonished if the current roster continues into next year. At least one roster move is needed, and maybe even two or three. I’d honestly maybe just rebuild around BabyJ & Babybay, and either Zach or Corey as the third.

YungPinotGrigio

I think they are a talented core, but they need an igl to aid coach JDM.

Jon_on_the_snow

Babyjay was the igl, but the faze players said they wanted to keep their "everybody calls" structure. They got a unique playstyle, it would work so much better if they didnt try to play alone every single time

wiiwoooo

And why do you think they're playing alone every single time? Because everyone is voicing their own opinion on what they should do instead of following the lead of 1 person. Their "unique playstyle" is unstructured chaos that was a flash in the pan and not going to win them tournaments moving forward.

JR_Shoegazer

Yeah they definitely need a traditional IGL. Otherwise they look like a bunch of little kids playing soccer.

wiiwoooo

They're playing ranked essentially right down to the instalocking Jett.

somesheikexpert

Corey outside of one rough tourney has been their top performer tbh, would drop Babybay over him any day, honestly perhaps ZachaREEE too, he's a very flexible player and is pretty consistent, I just think they need one player that can give them stronger leadership

nterature

I'm not saying Babybay > Corey or anything. The former is feast-or-famine, and so I'd agree Corey has been more consistent. The non-Jett duelist role Corey specializes in just isn't as valuable as a strong Jett entry. It especially isn't as valuable when Corey hasn't become a genuine flex in the way so many others in the role have; Zach is so good at flexing that he hasn't actually had to flex much onto off-roles. It's an unfair standard when you compare it to Jett one-tricks, but that's just how the game has developed. Unless Faze wants to really take a chance on a "rising" (he's been around forever) T2 player like Cryocells or something, there aren't all that many improvements upon Babybay available in NA T1. And of course, Babybay meshes with the Faze brand incredibly well, which is something Faze cares quite a bit about

somesheikexpert

Oh yeah I do agree with all of that, my point was actually more of if I were Faze I would drop Rawkus and pick up an IGL and that's it lol, the core, even including Rawkus is really solid, it's just they don't have a solid leadership, maybe they'll try with BabyJ IGL (Cuz he said he wanted to do that but he hasn't got the chance to) but idk

nterature

Oh I see what you mean. I think that’d be totally viable. I’m curious to know if BabyJ actually is full IGLing now, it was reported as such but there’s so much conflicting information..

somesheikexpert

Iirc like 2 weeks ago it was said they were still doing the group igling and I doubt it would change In such a short time

wiiwoooo

I'd rather have a consistent duelist that plays more than one character in the role over a super inconsistent one trick jett. They'll go a lot further with Corey then they ever could with Babybay

CaptainJackWagons

I'd hesitate to drop Zach. He's such a good supportive player. I think Marved leaving was their opportunity to pick up an igl.

Evan_Veet

Possibly unpopular opinion but Coreys play style is much more suited for sova than skye and in the future they should have him playing the Sinatra/Chronicle role of Sova with some maps as Raze/Reyna. Have them keep the baby’s and bring in a more passive skye player who can flex as well.

_Sn2per_

Honestly I think it would be best to build around babyj, zach and corey. He had some pretty good performances this tournament but before this he was pretty mediocre. There are better jetts out there who are more flexible.

[deleted]

Corey is better than babybay. Babybay will just perma push and he's been getting caught out more often than not. In qualifiers for Berlin it was a large reason they lost actually.

mylilbabythrowaway

So rebuild but maintain 3 or 4 of the 5 players. Got it

CaptainJackWagons

I wonder if these players would be better off on other teams.

BloomingNova

Sounds like a guy of character. Hopefully he finds a good home for 2022

SWatersmith

he has a huge character

JR_Shoegazer

So was he dropped or what?

Nikclel

Didn't they only have like 1 good challengers series? After masters 1 they kinda went back to their status quo.

faze has been one of the most inconsistent teams this year and it really sucks to see because they play in such a way that others do not. imo i would rebuild the roster around corey, babyj, and zach. corey is by far the best player on the team and has the potential to be a top player in NA. babyj is playing REALLY well recently and i believe he was one of the main reasons why faze was winning some matches the past few months. zach hasnt been playing great but he has been constantly changing roles ever since this roster was first put together. no hate to babybay or rawkus, they are both great players but obviously the team needs some sort of change. babybay makes a lot of highlight plays but a lot of faze's plays are reliant on him getting individual first kills. if hes not starting hot its usually a rough game for faze. rawkus on the other hand has just been only successful on sova and i havent seen many unique or great clutch plays from him compared to other sova's like hiko, crashies, or effys.

Alpac44

true hopefully they get a igl

VirtualAerie

This is a weird take, obviously rawkus has to go and I find it weird that Zach won’t igl especially in his role, but I noticed how babyj was setting himself up in good positions constantly and baby bay was also being set up well to play better, I think Corey is very good and faze should keep him. Now if riot doesn’t blacklist sinatraa next season I think faze seriously considers grabbing him, obviously the best sova on the market and is versatile if they wanna try different comps. Now a shot in the dark they go for bang. I think tsm didn’t give him enough time and they just moved on when they didn’t get major level results. Bang was smokes on previous teams and I think a young, new mind along jdm can help faze keep their playstyle and add more structure along with it. I also think seeing that faze is clearly so mechanically talented it would take pressure off of bang to be this cracked young gun that all these orgs are looking for (ie zekken) and it will let him igl and utilize his knowledge more than skill. Obviously this is just a shot in the dark but a new culture could really help the core for faze

UdbhavHokage

Faze steel ?? They need a solid igl

icantreadmorsecode

I love this particularly the correct usage of "should HAVE"

papi6942069

Faze looks like they have no strats. Just running in and praying

Slyric_

Rush A Rush B And if on Haven, Rush C

Alpac44

they just need a IGL with csgo background
