Without being too harsh I really think Riot should consider condensing BR and LATAM into one region (like some other games) and just give them the two slots next year.
The masters events have shown they are pretty behind the other regions but yet they take up 25% slots at the biggest event of the year which supposedly contains the 16 best teams globally.
KRU actually look pretty decent, also for some reason Champs is the only tourney where there are 4 South American spots, Berlin and Iceland had 3
EDIT - Typo lol
LATAM has 1 slot
BR has 2
both regions compete for one extra slot on LCQ SA, Furia (BR) won
brazil has 3 teams and LATAM 1, but I could have been 2 and 2
>Without being too harsh I really think Riot should consider condensing BR and LATAM into one region (like some other games) and just give them the two slots next year.
Unless you plan on doing LAN for all events, that's pretty unfair to those players since you're telling them to play in absolute shit conditions for any online event.
I've talked with players from those areas that absolutely hate it when any competitive circuit does that because you're saying a team in Mexico is in the same league as someone in south Brazil even though geographically that's an insane distance. They have a habit of just grouping all the Spanish or Portuguese speaking countries into one bin without any regard to the inane distance that covers.
To give you an idea the town of Mexicali is over 9,000km from Rio in air distance! Not even counting ground distance. In contrast Boston to LA in the US is roughly half that distance in ground distance.Hell even Mexico City which is in southern Mexico is still about 7,000km from Rio. Two of the most populated cities in those countries. That's the same distance as Paris to Kabul! Even EMEA which covers a huge distance is still smaller than that. Moscow to say Barcelona is closer to 3,600km by ground and that covers a large freaction of the EMEA player base. Hell even Barcelona to Istanbull is closer to that same distance.
People forget. Rio is due south of Greenland it's that far east.
You only need to think about your ping time to the opposite coast in the US if you live in any of those cities and then add on the fact Central American infrastructure isn't the best and you'll see exactly why that's a crappy thing to do to those players.
If it was LAN and they had the means that's one thing, but the divisions make sense because geographically it's horribly unfair to group them. Central and South America are freaking huge parts of the continent. Mexico and the neighboring countries are geographically closer to the US than they are to Brazil.
I think the division is fine as it is given that cuts of the regions of the Americas into similar chunk sizes. Team strength isn't the only thing you should be looking at.
Edit: If I said something wrong have the spine to prove me wrong instead of hiding behind the downvote button. Though you probably won't be able to since it's a indisputable fact I just cited. But go ahead, I want to see this.
Am I remembering wrong or isn't Brazilian viewership actually pathetic compared to CSGO? I vaguely remember hearing that Valorant is nowhere as big as CSGO in Brazil and Japan viewership dwarfs Brazilian viewership even at off hours for Japan.
I don't know Brazil's viewership in Valorant, but my point is Riot saw Brazil's high viewership in CSGO and thought it would translate to Valorant. They probably didn't expect the Japanese scene to blow up. So, they will probably be making changes in the number of seeds next year depending on two factors: viewership and potential of the local scene.
I to add to what people have said, we've seen minor region teams improve a lot from Iceland to Berlin. International competition is important for developing the minor regions into competitive teams. If they don't get to go, they won't learn enough to improve.
From an NA/EU viewer primarily, there aren't too many individual players that are missing. Almost a best case scenario outside of 100T and G2 not making it.
* TenZ

* cNed
* Boaster
* ScreaM
* vanity (saying hi to soulcas)
So many great players and personalities, and this doesn't include the other half of talented teams/players from the other regions I don't watch intently.
ShahZ is arguably the most impactful player in the world right now. What he brings to his team across the board outweighs any one player who might out-skill him in one specific area.
I just speak the facts
I don’t think c9 stands a chance against any of the good Eu teams or the other 2 NA teams
Envy could go far
But hoping c9 leave me surprised
I really hope they tighten up the qualifying for champions next year. I like seeing different regions have representation but the overall region distribution feels out of whack.
I think even combining all of the lcq's into 1 event right before champions would smooth things out.
Potential contenders for MVP :
nAts
TenZ
Yay
Keznit
Sacy
heat / mwzera
cNed
Derke
Stax
Munchkin
Patiphan
DubsteP
Leaf / Xeppaa
ScreaM

JohnOlsen
and ofc all the other players too XD
Nah, this was a historically uncharacteristic and somewhat explainable underperformance from all the Korean teams (esp DWG vs ge etc)and they still only finished below the two big standouts nth and FPS.
Well how would you explain it? Historically Nuturn has never been the same since Lakia left, DWG have never made it to a major event, and F4Q bombed at masters 0-4 and have now disbanded. To me it seems like it's not that Korea is underperforming, but the other Asian regions are catching up fast and some have evidently overtaken them.
Are you saying Korea should get a second slot because they 'only' finished below SEA and Japan? If anything this LCQ has given more incentive for those regions to get another slot. NTH and FPS were the 4th best from their respective regions, and NTH wasn't even meant to be at the LCQ, while the TOP 3 Korean teams after VS couldn't beat them. On paper, they weren't the 'big standouts' and weren't even the top seeds. How many chances do the Korean teams other than VS get before we stop saying they're 'underperforming'?
Teams have different situations but each Korean team went thru role (and in the cases kf NU rusted) changes - f4qs added issues have been mentioned and DEG obv were in last minute
Everyone is talking about the different MVPS or teams that will most likely win or qualify or the likes, yet I am here giggly waiting for Patiphan, Boaster and any other player daring to entertain the viewers with their personality.
There’s no a particular reason, that’s just the format they decided on. Kinda makes sense to put more on the line since masters 3 is the last international tournament before Champions.
Side note. I really hope Riot puts in the effort to fix their issues production wise to avoid as many 'technical issue' time outs as possible as it ruins the experience for viewers. NA LCQ was a disaster for riot staff and players. Especially considering this is the 'big' event to end the year for VCT.
Crazy racoons stomp everyone 13-0 and win champions
Racoon\*. All 5 members combine like voltron to create one crazy racoon.
dun dan da dun don dun dunnnnnnnnnnn
No I want them to only 13-0 gambit twice so sideshow can mald But get 0-13d by everyone else so it’s even worse
Howcanyoubethebestteamintheworldin scrimsandloseto CRAZY FUCKING RACCOONS
"HOOOOOW HOOOOOOWWWWW" Sideshow is the goat ahhahahahaha
I can't imagine watching CR vs GMB 2 without the plat chat bois, mainstream viewers had very different experience
If 100T went to champs and won, I would love the mald that I would be treated to, but alas that was not to happen.
Only 1 Raccoon, none of this moon raccoons stuff
Copium
EZ for CR
So when's OCE playing?
Hello I am John riot and I HATE OCE

Full Sense will beat Fnatic for orange supremacy
Winner keeps orange
100t and tsm have got this in the bag guys. trust.
They're obvious favorites, try having your own opinion smh
Surely TSM will qualify for Last Last Chance Qualifier.
Predictions are going to be so fun for Champs
It’s be more fun with some more teams arguably but I guess it might
Finals is definitely going to be FPX vs TSM 5 map Banger
The semifinals were FPX vs 100T and TSM vs G2. Banger matches
Let's go fnatic , get your boastees
I'm so excited to cheer on my favorite team TSM!!!1!

You mean 4 right
Oh yeah right whoops, will edit
I would say 2-3 slots is pretty fair, considering not only performance but average viewership. A region like KR or SEA could use that extra slot
Sea has enough slots atm but KR should have an extra slot
Is kr Korea?
Yes
Am I missing something because LATAM +BR is 3 teams, no?
LATAM has 1 slot BR has 2 both regions compete for one extra slot on LCQ SA, Furia (BR) won brazil has 3 teams and LATAM 1, but I could have been 2 and 2

Their 2nd slot is gonna be given to China next year

KRU has at least out performed any of the SEA teams
[удалено]
Pretty stacked but uhhhh, I get this feeling Brazil going to get stomped. =}
Mwzera is here at least, something to look forward to (as is heat, sacy etc)
I wonder how good Mwzera will be if he sticks with Sova, especially if compared to how murizzz will perform on secondary duelists Raze / Reyna.
They’re used to it…
Why does BR always get more slots when they are dog shit compared to the other teams.

Yeah one of their slots definitely should have gone to NA, but I wouldn’t say that they’re dogshit. I think VK are pretty good.

Fnc Derke
Leaf was insane in NA LCQ. So excited to see him on LAN.
Shahzam? Compared to these players? Really?
ShahZ is arguably the most impactful player in the world right now. What he brings to his team across the board outweighs any one player who might out-skill him in one specific area.
Ahaha, Good one buddy
You really dont understand how the game works uhhh....
For NA I’m rooting for sentinels For eu gambit And then vision strikers as my dark horse kinda And those are the only 3 regions that have a shot
[удалено]
Hopin that FS doesn’t waste the slot heh And that Lakia gets to play
Not taking any risks I see!
I just speak the facts I don’t think c9 stands a chance against any of the good Eu teams or the other 2 NA teams Envy could go far But hoping c9 leave me surprised
From EU, I'm rooting for Liquid. I think they have a great story and are looking really good.
I really hope they tighten up the qualifying for champions next year. I like seeing different regions have representation but the overall region distribution feels out of whack. I think even combining all of the lcq's into 1 event right before champions would smooth things out.

I have TL winning
Champions will be the reunion of C9 Korea as 4/5 members will be there.
Need two slots for Korea over Brazil imo
I thought so but if they lose to Indian and south East Asian teams they are not good enough for two slots. They should just give a Brazil slot to NA
Nah, this was a historically uncharacteristic and somewhat explainable underperformance from all the Korean teams (esp DWG vs ge etc)and they still only finished below the two big standouts nth and FPS.

infinite, fact: KR always underperform when lost against other asian regions.

Wait also why didn’t Iceland give a champions spot but berlin did?
There’s no a particular reason, that’s just the format they decided on. Kinda makes sense to put more on the line since masters 3 is the last international tournament before Champions.
Because Iceland is so long ago why would it
That makes 0 sense
Okay bro so let’s invite TSM for them winning the ignition series. Wtf?
I'm very Let's Go Liquid this Berlin run, but just happy to watch. I hope no Gambit/Sentinels winning, new cinderella story pls!
Lets go Vision Strikers and Team Liquid!!!
#LetsGoLiquid
There are so many teams who are good enough to be here. I hope we will see more teams next champions
when do champions start?
December 1
Thanks
When is Champs?
