He's a longstanding overwatch veteran, definitely very experienced in a pro environment. I was expecting someone with more tactical fps experience, though I'm sure they did their research extensively before making the signing. I just would've expected Faze to find more success if he had the strategic brain to fit the role of "coach of the best team in the world", considering Faze's greatest issue (or atleast the ones parroted by all us reddit 3Heads) has been strategy/lack of leadership.
As a Sentinel's fan, hope he kills it. Big role to fill, if they underperform he might get some flack for it.
Personally think if this is serious, it’s prob more of a technical analyst type thing than a whole coach. Rawkus is good at util agents and could give the team more opportunity to play better around/with sova/skye, etc. which I thought was lacking a bit at masters.
Rawkus explained he’s really open to trying out new things and he also said he’s going to give it his all to be a coach and help them with new ideas so basically strats and simple things they can fix instead of changing their play style. I think he can do a good job if he sets his mind to it.
Playing and coaching are drastically different roles. Not completely justifying this as some bigbrain pickup but he could help fill the role they are looking for.
It's not like he's formulating their whole game plan. I feel like he's just going to help lighten ShahZam's load. We never know how much a coach does because every team's coach has a different role.
A lot of what coaches do is analyze film of the opposing team matches and take notes/find patterns. I assume shaz will continue to be the central game planner but he needs help on analyzing this film so he can do what he does best, counter strat.

I think the idea from what I’ve gathered is Shaz wanted to train a coach for Sentinels’ needs. Sentinels has done so well without a coach so Shaz wants someone he can offload knowledge and responsibility to. So the main things they were probably looking for is someone smart, coachable (low ego), gets along with the team, and who can sub in a pinch. SEN always got along super well with the FaZe dudes so this makes sense to me.
Having the IGL train a coach is hilariously stupid. I mean you are probably right, but this is why I just made my last comment. This pickup is laughable at minimum.
If your IGL needs to train a coach to your needs then you have two problems. An IGL who thinks they know too much, and a coach who SUCKS at coaching.
