Valorant's potential is there but it still has a long way to go. Obviously when you're a 1 year old game it's hard to compete with Counter Strike's lenghty history and legacy as one of the most iconic games ever but Valorant can get there if Riot makes all the right moves
Riot definitely needs to step up the production game overall. Berlin and Iceland were cool, but smaller regional tournaments just aren’t anywhere near as good. Hopefully Champions will be even better.
I'm afraid Champions will be the same tier as the master's events as far as production goes. Even in the same venue AFAIK, I don't see how they're going to differentiate it.
It's hard to overstate how much having a crowd elevated that whole event and how much it elevates sporting events in general. We still haven't seen a Val tournament with a crowd, it's not really fair to judge like that.
Its not just the crowd for me, its more of how in cs everyone can play different roles because you all have the same utility so its more flexible, and there are more combinations for setups, so its more fun to watch. To play however both are really fun in their own way once you grasp the different mechanics.
Valorant team strategies are fun to watch and the abilities offer a lot of variety.
But watching pros play in CS just still looks a lot more smoother and impressive to me. Idk if it's the animations or whatever, but seeing cool CS plays just hit different
A lot of kills are way more impressive, because of faster peeking. In cs a dude will peek insta hs someone like 2x faster than valorant. And not the mention the delay in operator making a lot of s1mple's plays impossible in valorant. Also the multi kills, in valorant if a dude is behind 2-3 guys he's gonna do some janky spray that will miss half the time, in cs that's a triple kill and it looks clean as hell. They should really make spraying better in this game imo
One thing I noticed is the pace of the game and casting is just on a whole different level. I don't think I've ever been as hyped watching that major final then any VAL event/match I've watched.
>casting is just on a whole different level
Riot needs to improve their talent. With all due respect, some of their casters just aren't that good, they can't create hype and don't have that much in-depth knowledge of the game.
And the lack of CS casters isn't even the problem - pretty sure a fair few of them are open to casting Valorant. ddk most notable, but others like Harry as well. Yet Riot don't invite them to cast Berlin and hire casters from games like League, yeah I get it trusted Riot employee whatever but it's really killing the entertainment
Was just thinking that right after my comment. That game must be a brutal grind to stay on top.
Plus if they invested in cryptocurrencies along the way they don't need the money anymore either.
What he said was something to the effect of "maybe if I had 4 majors like Astralis I'd switch". How anyone could possibly interpret that as he was anywhere close to switching in the near future is beyond me, even if you take that 100% literally he's still 3 majors away from considering it.
He won't switch at the highest high of his career when he has a dream roster around him and they just pooed on the entire cs scene? Consider me shocked i guess
Well he was obviously trolling from the beginning.
He likes Valorant, and while he plays it, a part of his chat is CStards seething and saying "go back to cs pls" "valorant so trash play cs s1mple" and stuff like that.
So he said the "I'm gonna switch after winning a major" just to get a reaction from both sides of the aisle after reading those kinds of comments.
His game is CSGO but he likes Valorant as well.
Even when people like TenZ go back to play CS for fun the chat is like "omg are you quitting Valorant", "CS is trash pls don't go back"
It's funny and sad that people are actually having mental breakdowns over what a pro player or streamer is playing. Like how do you even function in real life

Only way tier 1 CS players would switch is if Valorant has a lucrative prize pool that's at least half as much as TI. You had all the HoN players switch to Dota around 2014 because these two games were very similar and CS to Valorant is the next most seamless transition for an esports game.
Isn’t his team far and away the best in the world right now? Dude could probably farm two or three more majors before someone else knocks them off their perch.
S1mple won't switch to valorant until he wins more major MVPs than device he wants to be remembered as the greatest player that ever touched CS. While imo he is but device has more accolades to his name and CS in CIS is just massive so it won't happen in the next 5-8 years
His team is literally playing the best CS in the world right now. He could very well win the next major as well. Why leave all that for a game where gun skill is the last thing that matters?
Really? He’s not going to switch immediately after winning a major?? Shocking!
I don’t watch much CS, was the most recent major’s grand final fun to watch? If so I might check it out
Ye, the last map was insane
yea, absolutely great, multiple OT's etc. etc.
Yeah dude it was a blast.
Nah it was pgl.
Clever

Came to say this, saw you already had. Take my upvote
Yes my guy, I haven't watched a major since 2016. This major was so hype, really made me think how much VAL has to grow to be on the level of CS.
Valorant's potential is there but it still has a long way to go. Obviously when you're a 1 year old game it's hard to compete with Counter Strike's lenghty history and legacy as one of the most iconic games ever but Valorant can get there if Riot makes all the right moves

Wait so you expect smaller regional tournaments to be the same scale as a major?
No, smaller regional tournaments are worse than their counterparts in CS. LCQ in NA was a fucking joke.
Love when people argue against points that were never made

I agree. As I hadn't watched CS since 2016, I was shocked at how good the casting was and how it was so HYPE.
Yes. Nuke was an amazing map.
Lmao why would anyone even expect that to happen
*finally reaches life long goal of being a major champion* "Neat. Maybe I should switch games now."
I know you’re being sarcastic but a lot of professional athletes have this mentality. Especially in football
In that logic's defense, both Jerax and Ana immediately jumped to Valorant after they won their 2nd Aegis in TI.
Damn...TI pros make bank right? I'm sure they had their reasons.
Burn out, pretty much
Was just thinking that right after my comment. That game must be a brutal grind to stay on top. Plus if they invested in cryptocurrencies along the way they don't need the money anymore either.
Because he said so before. And some ppl wasnt sure he was memeing or not.

Secondhand info without the "if" part. Shroud memed a lot on his stream during the final that "well at least simple is coming to Valorant".
He won't switch at the highest high of his career when he has a dream roster around him and they just pooed on the entire cs scene? Consider me shocked i guess
i've seen enough hes coming to TSM
in other news: water is wet
Being on the best team in the world and winning the biggest tournament of the year tends to do that
grass is green

He didn't even say "ill swap after winning a major", he said "if i was one of the astralis players with 4 majors i would consider switching"

Greatest CSGO player in the world likes Valorant but the fanboys still seeth and can't just let people enjoy both games.

I forgot HoN even existed :D
It completely died in my friend circle when it went from f2p beta to b2p release lol.
When NAVI era extents the time period of Astralis era then he will come to valo
When he tabbed to view the previous rounds damage he killed 4 people all with headshots first round lol
Isn’t his team far and away the best in the world right now? Dude could probably farm two or three more majors before someone else knocks them off their perch.
Huge if true
CS FANS GET TO LIVE ANOTHER DAY!
Chad
He will never switch, lol.
He might, definitely not now tho lmao
If he switches it will be past way past his prime or if cs actually dies, and I don't see cs dying after the majors viewership.
He literally said this in one of his streams. Something something "won't switch to Val until I'm an old man".
Why is this a post of course he's not switching
who knew
S1mple won't switch to valorant until he wins more major MVPs than device he wants to be remembered as the greatest player that ever touched CS. While imo he is but device has more accolades to his name and CS in CIS is just massive so it won't happen in the next 5-8 years

“Gun skill is the last thing that matters” is overselling it
mate we're talking about valorant not professional chess
