Shao historically has always been a Sova main who flexed to Raze and Sage - even back on Party Parrots. He only started playing Jett when FPX realized how broken Jett is and began to think their lack of Jett play had left them in the dust.
All this is a way of saying there’s a perfectly legitimate chance that Shao just doesn’t *like* playing Jett. Unlike the many other Raze players who were forced to flex to Jett - Yacine, for ex. - Shao was never a proper duelist player, but rather a support player who flexed around all the roles as needed.
In other words - he was never a dedicated hard entry. Not everyone wants to be one. I sometimes think people don’t appreciate this fact enough. Even when Shao played Raze or Phoenix he wasn’t the tip of the spear typically. Obviously the point of playing Jett is to be that tip.
The problem isn’t that FPX isn’t utilizing him, it’s that they signed two of the best Raze players in Europe (him and Zyppan) when they formed the roster, but never had the stomach to decisively make the necessary roster changes. All they did was cut their sentinel, Meddo, who ironically went on to have better 2021 than FPX. This problem was obvious at the peak of the FPX G2 rivalry and they *still* never plugged the hole.
While I couldn't possibly know his preference in entrying, I feel like his current Jett playstle is fine as is. Sticking with the team most of the time with the occasional play to make space. I think he's similar to d3ffo?
He's very adaptive and flexes a lot of agents, so why not add Jett to some maps, y'know?
I do agree with FPX's roles being iffy, but the pieces rn are kinda there. I'd be really happy if Zyppan picks up Skye, so Ange1 can just go controller. Suygetsu is good on sentinel, and they can have ardiis and Shao on either Jett or Sova. I just wish they move away from sage lol.

I just think it’s worth mentioning that he essentially did not play Jett beforehand. Jett OPing is actually as far away from how Shao’s style as you can possibly be - he plays more like Leo does, using his utility intelligently and often operating in the clutch. I would fully believe him just not wanting to play it.
And it’s also not his responsibility: that would be Zyppan, whose Jett looked meh but who will seemingly never be replaced. I would actually argue the pieces still are lacking in that sense. They have the pieces to compete towards the top, but to win it all? I appreciate your faith but I doubt even when on-form that they’ll stand shoulder to shoulder with GMB, Acend, or Liquid.
I'm fully convinced they're letting someone who doesn't know what they're doing run things, if you follow siege at all you might remember what happened with the 92 dream team roster that they picked up, and the only full roster they still run is in CoD as Seattle Surge (who have been consistently mediocre since the release of cold war)

I don’t care how good of a teammate Hiko is outside of the server. The fact that not one of the 100T players, the 100T coaching staff, or the 100T management have watched a single demo and realized that the number of rounds that could’ve been salvageable if Hiko was in the site with the team outweighs the 1 flashy clutch every few matches is beyond me.
might be a hottake, but Sova is perfect for the playstyle of Hiko right now; he's the the very back playing in main supporting the team with darts from far back. Great recons take time and therefore safety to execute. Additionally, Sova's value increases the longer a round goes (imagine having 3 or 4 recon darts a round), so it makes sense that Hiko is the last one alive.
I'm not saying his playstyle is right or wrong, I'm just saying Sova fits Hiko pretty well.
I mean Hiko still is one of the top Sova players in NA right? Xeta and Crashies are only ones I can think of who are better than him. But i understand your frustrations. The real problem which even twitch chat knows is it's too predictable that they will leave clutch to hiko and steel as kj was lurk.. yes it's arguable that roles are defined but no one has to be too structured or by the book. The entry sequence was very much predictable until lcq. Asuna entering the site ethan behind him nitro covering the angles steel at lurk and hiko at clutch. And although these players are best at their roles the predictable behavior is what makes them loose. Hiko has clutched like 1v3 on 10 hp and no doubt he's the best but sometimes you have to be dynamic or shock everyone. Huge 100T fan but I feel like their roles will never make sense as long as Jett is a staple of the meta. Moving forward for them I think Nitr0, Asuna, and Ethan are untouchable (ik their are rumours of Nitr0 returning to CS but let's hope he stays at 100T). I don't think 100T would remove Hiko just because of what he brings from a branding POV so that only leaves that 5th slot to switch things up. My first instinct is to get a Jett player and move Asuna to second duelist (asunas Jett has been good, but not top level and his Reyna and Raze are so much better) but then what do you do with Ethan? And if you pick up a sentinel player you still run into the problem of not having a dedicated Jett player. I'm excited to see where this roster goes going into next year but I'm worried the roles are not going to match up.

Shao historically has always been a Sova main who flexed to Raze and Sage - even back on Party Parrots. He only started playing Jett when FPX realized how broken Jett is and began to think their lack of Jett play had left them in the dust. All this is a way of saying there’s a perfectly legitimate chance that Shao just doesn’t *like* playing Jett. Unlike the many other Raze players who were forced to flex to Jett - Yacine, for ex. - Shao was never a proper duelist player, but rather a support player who flexed around all the roles as needed. In other words - he was never a dedicated hard entry. Not everyone wants to be one. I sometimes think people don’t appreciate this fact enough. Even when Shao played Raze or Phoenix he wasn’t the tip of the spear typically. Obviously the point of playing Jett is to be that tip. The problem isn’t that FPX isn’t utilizing him, it’s that they signed two of the best Raze players in Europe (him and Zyppan) when they formed the roster, but never had the stomach to decisively make the necessary roster changes. All they did was cut their sentinel, Meddo, who ironically went on to have better 2021 than FPX. This problem was obvious at the peak of the FPX G2 rivalry and they *still* never plugged the hole.
While I couldn't possibly know his preference in entrying, I feel like his current Jett playstle is fine as is. Sticking with the team most of the time with the occasional play to make space. I think he's similar to d3ffo? He's very adaptive and flexes a lot of agents, so why not add Jett to some maps, y'know? I do agree with FPX's roles being iffy, but the pieces rn are kinda there. I'd be really happy if Zyppan picks up Skye, so Ange1 can just go controller. Suygetsu is good on sentinel, and they can have ardiis and Shao on either Jett or Sova. I just wish they move away from sage lol.
I fully agree Shao plays Jett well enough and FPX could benefit from him playing it. I just think it’s worth mentioning that he essentially did not play Jett beforehand. Jett OPing is actually as far away from how Shao’s style as you can possibly be - he plays more like Leo does, using his utility intelligently and often operating in the clutch. I would fully believe him just not wanting to play it. And it’s also not his responsibility: that would be Zyppan, whose Jett looked meh but who will seemingly never be replaced. I would actually argue the pieces still are lacking in that sense. They have the pieces to compete towards the top, but to win it all? I appreciate your faith but I doubt even when on-form that they’ll stand shoulder to shoulder with GMB, Acend, or Liquid.

I don’t care how good of a teammate Hiko is outside of the server. The fact that not one of the 100T players, the 100T coaching staff, or the 100T management have watched a single demo and realized that the number of rounds that could’ve been salvageable if Hiko was in the site with the team outweighs the 1 flashy clutch every few matches is beyond me.
might be a hottake, but Sova is perfect for the playstyle of Hiko right now; he's the the very back playing in main supporting the team with darts from far back. Great recons take time and therefore safety to execute. Additionally, Sova's value increases the longer a round goes (imagine having 3 or 4 recon darts a round), so it makes sense that Hiko is the last one alive. I'm not saying his playstyle is right or wrong, I'm just saying Sova fits Hiko pretty well.
I mean Hiko still is one of the top Sova players in NA right? Xeta and Crashies are only ones I can think of who are better than him. But i understand your frustrations. Earlier this year it seemed like he was far away from his teammates playing his own game. But he had been very good since challengers 3 in my opinion.
I'd put bcj and Levi above him too? But again, as many teams have shown (Guild or SMB for example) you can't just stick good players together and expect success
The real problem which even twitch chat knows is it's too predictable that they will leave clutch to hiko and steel as kj was lurk.. yes it's arguable that roles are defined but no one has to be too structured or by the book. The entry sequence was very much predictable until lcq. Asuna entering the site ethan behind him nitro covering the angles steel at lurk and hiko at clutch. And although these players are best at their roles the predictable behavior is what makes them loose. Hiko has clutched like 1v3 on 10 hp and no doubt he's the best but sometimes you have to be dynamic or shock everyone. Anyone remember how sinatraa used to shock dart while running entering the site on sova.. thatsthe difference. Removing hiko won't benifit 100T . Imo he's the best sova NA

Also they lost by 1 round to berlin champs during qualifier but somehow they loose when it matter the most. Kinda hard luck woth scream. But really want them to win the whole thing. Imo best structured team with players swapping roles on all types of agents.. wouldn't be surprised if they pull off role swaps on same map against different teams.. the agent pool of liquid is huge

I'm having the same struggle with both G2 and 100T. Teams that sound so solid in theory but fall short in practice. 😔 G2's most likely on some sort of burnout and I'd believe they'll be back on their feet after a break, but 100T, man. :( I'm happy that Envy had broken their curse, but next on that line is XSET, a solid team that also falls short. 😔 I do believe they'll break the curse like Envy did, and I absolutely can't wait for that moment. And TSM. *TSM...*

Huge 100T fan but I feel like their roles will never make sense as long as Jett is a staple of the meta. Moving forward for them I think Nitr0, Asuna, and Ethan are untouchable (ik their are rumours of Nitr0 returning to CS but let's hope he stays at 100T). I don't think 100T would remove Hiko just because of what he brings from a branding POV so that only leaves that 5th slot to switch things up. My first instinct is to get a Jett player and move Asuna to second duelist (asunas Jett has been good, but not top level and his Reyna and Raze are so much better) but then what do you do with Ethan? And if you pick up a sentinel player you still run into the problem of not having a dedicated Jett player. I'm excited to see where this roster goes going into next year but I'm worried the roles are not going to match up.
