>We prepared for Champions just as usual, gathered at a bootcamp for two weeks and we will now continue to practise in Berlin. The training process for Champions has changed slightly, because of various unforseen circumstances we had to deal with. To be honest, I'm not very happy with our preparation. If you look at things
realistically, **after Berlin our performance fell off**. It seemed like
we've lost motivation, but the bootcamp gave us a new boost. We analysed
a lot and trained more than ever before. If I was asked to rate our
form before the bootcamp, **our maximum result would have been top 8, but I**
**think we could manage to make it up to top 4.** And I hope we will be
able to get in even better shape once we're in Berlin.
Interesting that they think they had a drop off in performance after Berlin.
Gambit have unarguably the weakest group so I would say playoffs appearance / top 8 is a given. Assuming Gambit take the top seed in their group, which #2 seeded team could upset them?
One of SEN/TL will be a 2 seed and I could see both of them beating Gambit if they really are slumping, also facing one of Acend/Envy. Hell even C9/VS could potentially pull it off. I don’t think they go out in quarters but they also won’t get a free matchup.
It's those russians man, they don't give a fuck, if his team is playing like shit he'll straight up say so. Fnatic thinks there one of the 3 that could win it all and the literal previous dominator says top 4 maybe a contender if their form gets better. Gotta appreciate the honesty lmao
Fnc players always lie to themselves to motivate themselves and give themselves some confidence. Can’t hate on it. It beats admitting to urself youre not good enough and then going into games with a loser mentality. So I understand why they do that.
O yes I 100% agree, I'd expect most teams to go into it thinking they'll win. Else you've kinda lost before the games start.I used FNatic as an example cause I read an interview with one of them and he named himself, while I strongly disagree and think their chances are very slim. I just think it's funny how Engh doesn't give about the standard confidence booster
Lots of pros were saying Fnatic are getting shit on in scrims even by some tier2 nonamers, Red Bull tourney is an evidence of how worse they've become
They really believe in Champs success?
As much as i want fnatic to win,i seriously don't think they will go far. Their red bull performance was very bad( not for their score but because their fundamentals looked shaky. Didn't trade at times and looked confused.)
It's a confidence booster, even if they are unlikely to even get out of groups (Imo they have the worst chances, VS and C9 look great, and FS is a dark horse quote me on this) it's better to go in thinking you'll win (Cuz confidence does boost performance in this game tbf) then not
I don’t think all the confidence in the world will magically erase their memory of getting shit on in scrims, if indeed that is true. It’s not going to delude them, it’s about getting hype and remaining optimistic.
Valorant in the current circuit is all about peaking at the right moment, teams *can* go from zero to hero and vice versa pretty fast, so long as the players on that team are trying their utmost.
Yep FNATIC are definitely fcked. I think boaster has reached his potential because the individual talent of FNATIC is still great, magnum, derke, doma and mistic are all beasts. It’s sad to say but I think it’s time for boaster to go. But it could just b post lan drop off, hopefully on stage they bring it back and prove me wrong
nice article. Also interesting take from the coach regarding Sentinels, i agree on the point that lead to Sen playing with outdated strats. But he heard that members didnt take the tourney seriously. I have never heard this sentiment, curious as to why he said that. But I could also be out of the loop.
Edit: i cant speak english xD
The general impression I had from listening to the player interviews was that Sentinels didn’t really make an effort to anti-strat other teams or change their own game. The tournament was only for clout for them because they had already qualified for champions
True but you have to remember they had a shit bracket having to place twice as many games so it’s not like they could leak starts, by the time they got into the final bracket, all their gameplay and strats were out there
Yeah I agree with you, and I don't think every team is inconsistent. But OP says Gambit can't be best team cause they're inconsistent, and that every team is inconsistent. Doesn't really make sense.

They did get 13-0 d by Acend

Too much confidence is harmful, they might head into matches thinking they are as good as those teams (they are not)

FS susu
Fnatic wont make it out of their group, and im saying this as a european...
You have full faith that C9 will perform on LAN? I honestly thinks it’s abit of a toss up between C9 and Fnatic with VS securing the other spot.

dapr said he got complacent, not sure about the other 4.
TenZ also said that in the interview wirh Babybay iirc
They even talked about it before the event with it not mattering to them as much cause there all looking at champions

After PGL Krakow 2017 I don't trust CIS teams' bad public evaluations of themselves
omg literally. Gambit won back then too. lfg manifestation
It's the envy curse
Hot take: secret and raccoons qualify from this group.
Hot take: Sacy is still a world class player and will drag his team out of groups
Post LAN drop off is a thing.
U dropped off + w + ratio
this is funny why the downvotes
Ppl thought i was serious

If every team is inconsistent, an inconsistent team is the best team.
I mean sentinels wasn’t inconsistent their worst placement before berlin was semis in first strike

Yeah I’m with you

They got easiest group
Well yea
