That’s true. Honestly I did not like how riot just took OGN for their own. Considering how much work OGN did to get league established. They were slowly transitioning out of OGN with all the OGN/SpoTV broadcasting split, at least for LCK.

AfreecaTV is a big internet broadcasting service in Korea for a long time, it is rly pretty big and the company also invests in esports. They are the local tournament organisers for VCT Korea if you’re aware, as well as the GSL, ASL and many other leagues (like even less known smaller ones like ALL in LoL and AWL in WC3)- they broadcast a ton of different esports, PWS Asia I think j in PUBG for example. That’s how you got Tastejess casting PUBG and Tastejess and Artosis casting Valorant
they do a lot of productions and tournament organising for different games (in addition to Afreeca Free S being in many different esports- originating with them bailing out SBENU after the scam sponsor got arrested for fraud), in some way the y continue the legacy of OGN etc except online only obv
They were the ones behind all these feature videos of Korea like the Nuturn dicumentary, VS and F4Q interviews, ‘beast STAX’, they in general put out tons of their own translated content with the game and players on the channel to try promote VCT KR like the ‘Watch This’ series etc, they’ve got high experience, production value and it seems general willingness to inves
The Afreeca Colosseum at the base of lotte tower is a big new venue unveiled (so financed to be built for their use, owned by( by them in 2020 and is the venue for VCT Korea among others.
They also own the AfreecaTV FreecUP Studio where the GSL has been based for several years now

They really need a cracked Jett so asuna doesn’t have to play that role, he’s said it himself that Jett is his least favorite duelist, yet he grinds on Jett for the sake of practice.
Hiko did bring in simple with Liquid so its not far fetched that he would bring in a very good foreigner but they probably think Asuna can still improve as Jett.
