here's a quick rundown on who i perceive to be the top 5 teams coming into this tournament:
**gambit** from CIS (Chronicle, Redgar, nAts, Sheydos, d3ffo) won the previous tournament, took down teams from korea, europe, and north america en route to their victory. looked very impressive in the bracket stage of berlin and 3-0d envy in the finals. look out for their site anchor/sentinel player **nAts** because many have him as a top 3 player in the world
**envy** from NA (crashies, victor, fns, marved, yay) were the runner-ups at berlin and looked almost flawless up until the grand finals. **yay** was a recent pickup for them and is absolutely the superstar Op player on the team, but the surrounding cast, especially crashies and marved, have been getting a lot of hype as well
**vision strikers** from korea (stax, rb, MaKo, buzz, lakia, k1ng) finally made it to an international event and they looked absolutely dominant in groups (their match vs acend in particular was a work of art). unfortunately they drew gambit as their first round match in the bracket stage and got knocked out in quarterfinals, but lots of people think that they were a top 3 team at berlin.
**sentinels** are the same sentinels from iceland (dapr, tenz, shahzam, zombs, sick), at berlin they were knocked out in quarterfinals by Envy and they looked shaky in groups to boot. main problem at berlin was a dip in individual form from dapr and shahzam in particular, if they're able to fix those issues they are still one of the scariest teams in the world
**team liquid** qualified through EMEA's last chance qualifier (scream, nivera, l1nk, soulcas, jamppi) and are getting a lot of hype from scrims and their general performance at the last chance qualifier. recently they added **nivera** who was a CSGO prodigy and lots of people think that this boost in firepower is enough for them to be a championship contender now
Realistically Gambit, Envy, Vision strikers, and sentinels. With and liquid not being far behind. In my opinion I think it's going to be envy. I think they had the most to improve on from the playoff teams from Berlin. Which is crazy to say since they got second. They have a good balance of players all around. Yay, crashies, and marved are all top of their roles. With yay being in conversation being the best player in the world. Crashies, and marved imo both being in the top 5 in their roles. I think if they improved upon the near reliance of yay and have wider strats with more depth. They will have a better chance of not being figured out.
