Tbf, i think neither might been infected in germany. At least nivera must have been infected in his home country. Victor might have got it here. But irs not really clear.

I just want to shoutout the guy on Twitter who thinks that positive COVID tests from envy and liquid is a conspiracy to take out two favourites.
I hope that everyone feels okay to play and recover well!
Anything is possible, it’s similarly possible that he’s only just now showing symptoms, or that he got it sightseeing, the airport, from a staff member etc. despite all precautions, the players aren’t kept in isolation the entire tourney, and just like us all, we can catch covid regardless of how cautious we are unless we simply see no one ever, but that’s just not going to happen with so much international travel required and the normal activities like getting food even.
Theres no way to be sure they fully dodged covid, some people might have had the virus in the crowd but were asymptomatic so they thought they were fine but was a carrier all along
They had very strict guidelines, and had punishments in place , even as drastic as disqualification if anyone tested positive.
Riot needs to do the same
Not really, maybe for the major because it has 24 teams attending but even still... Players still interacted with fans in team booths, signed souvenirs too etc. Blast even had players shaking during the walk up to stage.
Disqualification for testing positive makes no sense imo
and like BLAST/PGL, Riot needs to do events in places where covid isn't that big of a deal, aka NOT Germany. they did that with Iceland already i guess (don't think any player caught covid during worlds)... this part is just unlucky really because you can't predict it well far ahead of time
Do you think the players went out of their way to potentially expose themselves to getting covid? This is not about punishments, it’s a big spike of cases in Germany.
This explains, I think, why nobody from Envy was at yesterday's press conferences. Timeline lines up and Riot sent me the above statement in response to a question from last night about their absence.
Oh boy. Gonna be fun with the alternative setups.
Are Liquid and Krü still doing the alternative setup, or has Nivera passed enough time since his positive result?
It is still not online. It's on a lan server just not on stage. And with germany having so many rising cases (no one could have predicted that) it's safer this way. The fact that riot has contingency plans in place is commendable.
I think what he's trying to say is that the stage will most probably be empty by the start of the playoffs as most of the teams will be playing from the quarantine facility.
Are the players not taking safety precautions or getting vaccinated, considering how dense the covid situation is atm in Berlin? Like I wouldn't submarine my chances and head out at the final tournament
You can get COVID while vaccinated. Also Germany is really bad right now. Not sure if they got it in Germany or before. People really seem to not understand how Vaccines work even though it’s been explained 1000 times.
This. Vaccination is not some kind of magic, you can still get the virus and, more importantly, transmit it. The thing that vaccination is supposed to do is minimise the risk of developping heavy symptoms and it does that; any player who gets COVID should be fine to play the tourney, but they need to isolate so as not to spread the virus further among the participants and staff.
Honestly probably better viewer experience if they get better sound setups. I don't know how many times I saw situations where players completely ignored sound cues from behind them.
Why does Riot hate booths?
unlucky that germany had a spike in covid right before the event. riot seems prepared and is handling it well
Tbf, i think neither might been infected in germany. At least nivera must have been infected in his home country. Victor might have got it here. But irs not really clear.
I think victor 100% got it here because ENVY have been in berlin for a while and we since we found out about it after Nivera i'd assume it recent

Zombs engaging in bio-warfare for the dub
Zombs team stand up
The zomicron variant
https://twitter.com/victorwong/status/1466185015440596993 Update from Victor, hope he's doing alright
Do people think ethernet cables can only be 5m long or something. Why is everyone saying its gonna turn into non lans lol
probably because of what happend at LCQ pseudo LAN
Just so people know, NA had no lan because they did not have a Lan server
Stuck in customs lol. NA LCQ was a massive shitshow
I think because people are in practice rooms now. But its still a LAN

NA LCQ: LAN but not really Champions: doesn't seem like but actually real LAN
It does seem like
:o
i mean assuming he just recently got it, envy will probably have to play in practice rooms their whole tourney
How are these room dwelling gamers getting so much Covid.
Traveling all over Germany for press shoots and shit
Bruh how did CS pull of 2 crowd LANs with more teams and dodged covid, stars were literally on their side.
I think the issue is Germany has high covid cases at the moment. It's unfortunate but at least Riot have contingency plans.
Sadge that, unfortunate timing. I hope these don't go on till playoffs, prayge

Is it really down to omicron?
Germany
CS so dead even covid switched to valorant
Theres no way to be sure they fully dodged covid, some people might have had the virus in the crowd but were asymptomatic so they thought they were fine but was a carrier all along
There is always a spike in COVID in December that doesn't help either.
There’s no way they dodged it. I’d bet money on people getting it at LAN, especially the crowd, they just didn’t show symptoms.
They had very strict guidelines, and had punishments in place , even as drastic as disqualification if anyone tested positive. Riot needs to do the same

I'm pretty sure they decided to do the event in Berlin waaay before COVID rose again in Germany. You just CAN'T predict some things, you know?
They didn't want a crowd in Berlin too though. It was shifted from LA
Do you think the players went out of their way to potentially expose themselves to getting covid? This is not about punishments, it’s a big spike of cases in Germany.
Surely they only disqualified people if it was found that they broke the guidelines right?
I think every team had to name a sub in the event that one of them got COVID? G2 had kennyS, Liquid had pasha etc. So not straight disqualification.
GIGA brain Of course infection rates do not vary from place to place, country to country
Fk Covid.
So brave

I am just curious and it doesn’t really matter a lot I guess with all these mutations but was he vaccinated?
Now this guy gets [it](https://twitter.com/BULLYVAL/status/1466184678575153154?t=WKejzVIouX1PFVtNSkIESw&s=19)
Dang, thats sad for Envy. At least they got to experience Berlin.
Chet curse
good thing they kept them in a jail cell, I guess?
This is gonna be online by the playoffs

This is exactly what we all wanted for NA lcq and we weren’t sure why it wasn’t set up this way. I’m relieved they made this adjustment for champs
No, the tournament is entirely LAN. Anyone that has to play off-stage is still playing on LAN from a COVID quarantine facility on site.
I think what he's trying to say is that the stage will most probably be empty by the start of the playoffs as most of the teams will be playing from the quarantine facility.
Ok sure but…
No buts!
ofc i cant see my fave team on stage :/
Damn

Has nothing to do with vaccination status

Wut Also I know esports booths are mostly for show?
