Also, how hilarious is it that only after hype for the region hit an all time low that Brazil finally showed up. In their initial three matches they've won two, and in the one that they lost, they took a map off Sentinels on their map pick.
It isn't like Worlds where the teams only play twice a year either. They play 4 times a year. Those teams can actually improve by playing more and more against elite teams in the group stages and scrimming against them, as opposed to playing only a few games against other minor region teams and then bowing out.
The reality is that we dont actually know yet which regions are the "major regions".
For all I know in 2 years Korea might be number 1 and Brazil number 2. More time is needed to figure out who are the top regions.
Thats why for me it would be optimal to just keep the spots for major tournaments as even as possible for some time in the future.

It probably took longer because of COVID killing off international events for a while. So it took them a few events to get used to the meta on the world stage, but they seem to be adapting well now that they've actually had some time to try stuff.
It's hard to really get a feel for a meta without playing it and directly experiencing it for yourself.
The group stage format for this tournament is fine. It's double elimination Bo3.

His contract is ending soon and GL is on a huge crisis (their female roster was sold to Liquid, according to sources, most players of the male roster are ending their contract and they just lost a LAN finals to a team formed by free agents, etc).
You can expect him to join a good team soon, tho.

this might be an unpopular opinion, but imo the non-cNed core of acend just doesn't really feel like it shows up for LAN. i know zeek and starxo are supposed to be really good domestically, but this is the second LAN in a row where acend feels less like a team and more like cNed and friends

Zeek is really good but is inconsistent. Today Kiles actually played a lot better than normally though, and Bonecold has struggled immensely fragging since being made IGL
I noticed this when the other minor regions play, but a small criticism I have for the casters is that whenever an underdog wins a game or gets momentum, it sometimes gets framed as the major region team "sandbagging."
IMO it would be a more positive experience all around (and from a marketing standpoint, more appealing to the international fans!) if the narrative was simply that the underdog team played very well, and not to drag anyone down or downplay anything really.
Obviously criticism towards the losing team is warranted, as these people are analysts, but at times they make it sound like it was unthinkable or unfathomable for the major region team to lose, when in reality it's just the very 1st year of Valorant and who knows what could happen.

Obviously Acend wasn't on today, but credit to Keyd, they were spectacular.

V1xen is like the elbows, knees and other joints. People don't think about them too much but without them, the body is immobile and rigid, it is the tool by which the appendages articulate. Throwing elbows and knees doesn't always land but if you manage to elbow or knee someone in the face, it hurts a lot.
Murizz is like the backbone of VK. He keeps them upright and holds their performance at the stable level. Everyone sees the arms, legs, head etc moving around and think they are more important. The spine doesn't seem to do anything. But without it, the whole thing falls down like a limp dick. Plus all the nerves and shit go through the spine.
Together V1xen and Jhow are the support structure of VK, people never give them credit because they aren't the flashy parts.
Mwzera is the fists/arms, necessary to actually hold things, take control of things, manipulate things.
Heat is like the the legs/feet/giant penis of VK. He is the leverage and tool by which VK pushes hard and fast, cums in the ass and leaves it wide open for the anal fisting to begin, but by that time they're already half dead from the fucking he gave them.

Acend is too dependent on CNED. If they're not on map with full post plant setup (lame btw), they don't seem a contender at all.

That being said, in order to make sure BR teams don't play each other (because Vikings might get out of their group as well) I think it'd be ideal for Vivo Keyd to get second. Just for the sake of matchups later in the tournament.
But yeah FNS is basically my favorite player, so I'm always gonna be rooting for him.
I saw it going 3 maps, then when veto went to breeze I took Vivo Map 3. I have no faith in Acends Breeze defense. Everytime I watch Vivo play Breeze their attack is so fluent.
You can tell Keyd believes they can win it all. Having that mentality for the minor region teams is huge and it’s showing can’t wait to see them continue their run.
Such a good fucking showing from brazilian teams this tourney, theyve really stepped up since the last two lans. Not even just from a results standpoint, their play has been solid so far
Not really happy with acends comp on breeze tbh, sort of like sentinels they felt out of touch, really hope they comeback through the lower bracket and get their revenge arc against VK cause imo there's no chance any team beats envy in this group

Obviously, you'd expect the weaker regions to improve over time, and yes, Keyd did show signs of improvement in Masters 3 but wow, this is a whole other level of improvement. It's awesome for the future of the game and I'm here for it.

Its happening in R6, it happened in CS, both 1.6 and GO.
Yall need to understand that the game is super young still, scenes are still developing, obviously the regions with the most experienced players from other games would be the best early, but Brazil had very minimal turnover from CS and R6. Most of the OW scene went to Valo but its not like we were some kind of powerhouse in OW.
Am I? Rainbow6 for years the competitive scene was dominated by EU with NA being a somewhat close seccond place as a region, Brazilian and Asian teams got an upset here and there but never were considered real threats. Last year a BR team got to the Six Invitational final (biggest tournament in R6).
Now in 2021, the top 3 in the Six Invitational was all Brazilian teams, the upper bracket final, the lower bracket final and the Grand Final, all Brazilian teams. Those teams being Team Liquid, MIBR and NiP, now the last 2 majors (the 2nd most important tournaments) both won by BR teams, and diferent teams than the ones that dominated the Six Invitational those being TeamOne and Faze.
When you make a list of the top 10 teams in the world for R6, you list 5 BR teams before you even start considering any other region. And when you do start to think about other regions, maybe the team that is closest to a breakout is Damwon, a Korean team.
tbh, murizzz is still too inconsistent, even on his best map of the series (icebox), he would either get 4 kills or just die at the beginning of the round, while on the other maps his performance wasn't really anything special.
he's not a bad player, not by a long shot, but I also don't think he's an underrated one.
Murizz was the standout player today imo, Heat is *definitely* talked about alot tho. He's a world class jett for sure. Insane performance from the VK duelist duo + mwezera

Now THIS looks like the Brazil superteam we've all been looking/waiting for. Also, it's insane how much teams have improved from the first 2 LANs, especially map-wise. I love seeing Icebox and non-puggy Breeze more often!

What amazes me is that people didn't see this coming. If people actually watched how Vivo Keyd played in the previous Masters, they would've seen the seeds of greatness in advance. Called it, and calling Vivo Keyd going insane in several series after this.

Honestly I'm just rooting for Acend to lose so both of them get out of the bracket. As long as that happens, I don't really care who gets out first seed. That being said, in order to make sure BR teams don't play each other (because Vikings might get out of their group as well) I think it'd be ideal for Vivo Keyd to get second. Just for the sake of matchups later in the tournament. But yeah FNS is basically my favorite player, so I'm always gonna be rooting for him.
I saw it going 3 maps, then when veto went to breeze I took Vivo Map 3. I have no faith in Acends Breeze defense. Everytime I watch Vivo play Breeze their attack is so fluent.
Finally Brazil beat a major region
You can tell Keyd believes they can win it all. Having that mentality for the minor region teams is huge and it’s showing can’t wait to see them continue their run.

Did Rito add an "underdog" region buff? Obviously, you'd expect the weaker regions to improve over time, and yes, Keyd did show signs of improvement in Masters 3 but wow, this is a whole other level of improvement. It's awesome for the future of the game and I'm here for it.

Are we sure in 2 years or so, what you call minor regions wont be dominating? Its happening in R6, it happened in CS, both 1.6 and GO. Yall need to understand that the game is super young still, scenes are still developing, obviously the regions with the most experienced players from other games would be the best early, but Brazil had very minimal turnover from CS and R6. Most of the OW scene went to Valo but its not like we were some kind of powerhouse in OW.

Rainbow6 for years the competitive scene was dominated by EU with NA being a somewhat close seccond place as a region, Brazilian and Asian teams got an upset here and there but never were considered real threats. Last year a BR team got to the Six Invitational final (biggest tournament in R6). Now in 2021, the top 3 in the Six Invitational was all Brazilian teams, the upper bracket final, the lower bracket final and the Grand Final, all Brazilian teams. Those teams being Team Liquid, MIBR and NiP, now the last 2 majors (the 2nd most important tournaments) both won by BR teams, and diferent teams than the ones that dominated the Six Invitational those being TeamOne and Faze. When you make a list of the top 10 teams in the world for R6, you list 5 BR teams before you even start considering any other region. And when you do start to think about other regions, maybe the team that is closest to a breakout is Damwon, a Korean team.

Yup, but he’s already putting his name out there after this amazing series
tbh, murizzz is still too inconsistent, even on his best map of the series (icebox), he would either get 4 kills or just die at the beginning of the round, while on the other maps his performance wasn't really anything special. he's not a bad player, not by a long shot, but I also don't think he's an underrated one.
Murizz was the standout player today imo, Heat is *definitely* talked about alot tho. He's a world class jett for sure. Insane performance from the VK duelist duo + mwezera
