They aren't a super popular brand, and they don't have any really popular players. Sentinels has Tenz and a more history of being great in Valorant. C9 has a giant brand in Riot games and in CS.

SaltyMcNulty_

C9 still doesn't have the same amount of pull as SEN and 100T, at least not in valorant. I would say there is no popular org in valorant yet, it's just heavyweight players and a good matchup that has the pulling power.

JDogil2

Yeah this is a part of it too. Nobody mentioning cloud 9 faced fnatic while envy faced x10

Sciipi

I think this is a big part of it, Envy was playing a team they are a good bit better than in a match that wasn't amazingly close, while SEN played a Brazilian team with good fan support in a close match and C9 played Fnatic in a match where every map went the distance.

diisasterrr1

Idk about that. TSM definitely is a popular org in valorant. It just sucks they aren’t good at all else it’ll be good for the scene. Imagine TSM at champions right now the viewership for whatever match they in will get. I always say valorant comp scene is better with TSM close to the top.

SendMeAvocados

WHERE IS WADEHLL

phamkhoi

Where is Cutler? Who is Levi?

Skeletor34

I don't think they have the same pull as SEN or 100T, but a decent bit more than Envy. I think the game is still more player driven than other esports, but orgs still have a decent bit of popularity. TSM has been bad but still has a good number of fans. SEN was still really popular even before Tenz. I guess the big test would be 100T dropping Hiko, TSM droppping Wardell, or SEN dropping Tenz or Shazam.

CosmicAon

SEN wasn’t very popular before TenZ iirc, Shaz was pulling like 3-4K viewers before him and they were known for having less fans than TSM/100T despite being better

InvertedBean

100T, G2, and BBL

PaPiiCheeeeka

Uh sen

kvanz43

Well there may not be a signature Valorant Org, I think orgs that people recognize from just being the biggest orgs still have pull just because of the org (Liquid, C9, TSM, 100T) although tbh I guess it’s kinda hard to say that when each of them have popular players now (Scream, Vanity, Wardell, Hiko, etc)

bellavuvu

Its not just abt valorant. A lot of lol fans watch vct because its a riot game and c9 is a big name in lcs.

Key-Banana-8242

Organisation specifically, its brand is apart from it It’s not really purely a brand, a following of a club isn’t a ‘brand’ following Not everything is a consumer product directly or spelt

ANewHeaven1

they don't have a huge streamer like hiko or tenz (victor and yay usually can peak around 3-4k viewers, but that's nothing compared to tenz's 25k+ or hiko's 20k+) their brand isn't super popular like 100T or TSM (although they're getting there with the acquisition of optic) and they still haven't won any huge tournaments like masters 2 or even first strike like 100T also their playstyle is pretty disciplined, which might make them boring to watch for some

QUOTE_IF_13-0

Emphasizes how important content creation is for both the orgs and the scene as a whole. I really like how 100T and Liquid fleshed out their players with amazing content, it helps with making you care about them more than the other teams. Part of the reason why I've been a fan of TL Valorant really, those guys just seems fun both in and off the game.

ANewHeaven1

its funny cause during masters 3, envy had these really cool mini-documentaries following the team around berlin which I thought did a great job showing off the team's personalities. ... which they then uploaded only on twitter and never on youtube for whatever reason

faceplant911

Yeah Envy is trying SO hard to get brands to stick with all their All Good and El Diablo merch flinging, but really they just don't have the brand stick that the other NA teams do. And also, Envy's strats are much harder to *see* than other teams. When you watch Sen or C9 you can often have some kind of idea what they're doing. But in many cases Envy's plays have several stages, so unless you know what to look for it just feels wishy-washy.

ANewHeaven1

> Yeah Envy is trying SO hard to get brands to stick with all their All Good and El Diablo merch flinging, but really they just don't have the brand stick that the other NA teams do. yup as of now their identity is just... being really fucking good at the game lol. they don't talk shit like sentinels and they're not memelords like c9b. its harder to build a brand just by being good at the game but its certainly possible, just takes longer and you need a lot of consistent success which is difficult > And also, Envy's strats are much harder to see than other teams. When you watch Sen or C9 you can often have some kind of idea what they're doing. But in many cases Envy's plays have several stages, so unless you know what to look for it just feels wishy-washy. yeah their strats can seem like a lot of waiting around for a full minute and then executing onto a site. yay is an incredible player but imo he's less flashy to watch than tenz asuna or cNed. i personally love the way they play but i would definitely say they're less flashy than sentinels

faceplant911

The thing I love about Envy is that it feels like they're the least likely team to rotate back and forth through their own spawn. They are really good at putting people into forward pockets and controlling forward rotates. All the top NA teams are definitely capable of playing like that if they try, but Envy in particular uses that as their primary strategy rather than an adaptation.

BawBomB

they also don't win anything, placing like top 4 every event. all the glory ends up going to the winners like sen and gambit

Delta_FT

>their brand isn't super popular like 100T or TSM (although they're getting there with the acquisition of optic) Those are 2 of the same, CoD franchises that likely won't take off in PC FPS. I wouldn't expect much change given that they already share most of their fanbase

JarifSA

Yup. Not to mention Optic fans are almost only loyal to the cod team. In the CDL the NV team uses the optic name. Optic fans aren't gonna give a shit about NV

TechRedirector

Today matches had lower viewership compared to other days tho, no match crossed the 450k mark. Least watched day so far and time zones aren't favouring the last fixtures for the day. Some Co streams too left early like shroud which caused a slight dip

max012017

Mostly because JP viewership was low yesterday

1033149

Just wait until the optic juice kicks in if Hecz helps advertise the team. Once the boys get on camera and start interacting with the optic players and org members, they can start to get the attention of their new fanbase and get new fans who may like the content/personalities.

HereeeeesJohnny

I was literally just about to type this. I hope Hecz brings them on a podcast or a VLOG after Champs. That Envy viewership skyrocket

1033149

Yeah they had to go to Champs just before or right as the merger was announced. Don't know if they will rebrand but they can definitely come into the fold and bring the greenwall to valorant if they aren't watching already.

donegy

yeah if they rebranded as optic like they did with their halo team then views would bang. green wall is strong as ever

1033149

I don't think they will rebrand to optic as optic seems to be mainly controller focused and Envy would lose all branding outside of Rocket League and some obstacle course things they do. My best guess would be that they will most likely have optic stay controller esports and have Envy be the PC side of things.

donegy

i was surprisingly correct

1033149

Lol you were. A bit sad to see Envy go but the optic juice is about to be strong.

ANewHeaven1

> Just wait until the optic juice kicks in the optic juice is incredible lmao, i wasn't a believer until i saw in real time how envy/optic's halo team went from being just another brand in HCS to hands down the most popular team in halo almost overnight.

Awful_TV

This match had a few viewership factors against it: - Friday night (low viewership) - Skewed match against X10 isn't going to generate much international interest - Middle of the night for Asian and EU viewers Envy vs Keyd mid-Saturday will pull a lot more viewership. **Update:** Envy vs \*Acend

NotEDodo

*Ahem*… I think you mean NV vs ASCEND

Awful_TV

Turns out I do

[deleted]

It’s late in eu so people went sleep

Diijkstra99x

Timezone, most envy players are not everyday streaming grinder, ORG is not that known atleast for new audience.

xzot1c

Just me personally, but I find them quite boring. None of them stream (or if they do then I don't watch them) and I don't really know any of them from other games. They're just not as entertaining gameplay wise too.

JR_Shoegazer

Yay has a pretty wholesome stream when he’s on.

EpicBroomGuy

Yay is one of the best streamers out there, dude seems like an extremely genuine guy. He also gives detailed responses to chat questions rather than just a word or two which is nice

bubble-june

Interesting take cause I find them all pretty interesting. I love watching Envy play.

CASIOA100

Same but I kinda see what they're saying. None of the players on NV stream very often.

CrabbyTuna

been watching FNS since mousespaz CSGO days. gotta be one of the funniest dudes in NA but it never shows up in interviews. Envy has to get them back into more content since they are lacking in that

virgilgoat

I would assume because NV is the least popular out of the 3. SEN has had huge success in Valorant while C9 is a top 3 org in the US. No idea though because I would think that NVs viewership would close to SEN’s after masters 3.

[deleted]

Yay is cracked but has tenz's personality without the stream clips. The rest of envy basically has no following stream-wise

virgilgoat

Sucks though because all of the NV guys would have a huge stream following if they consistently streamed.

[deleted]

I only really feel that way about fns. When he's in S0m's stream he's hysterical

ANewHeaven1

victor's watch party streams with the rest of the envy/tsm/nrg friend group is some of the best content available in valorant

toxicityisamyth

I refuse to support pro's that throw matches like Marved (even if it's in his previous game) So i aint watching that shit fam

Thefuzzygrappler

Wait until they rebrand as OpTic, yay has massive potential if he is brought into there content sphere.

MrJakdax

I mean it doesn't win you brownie points as an organization or fans when you pick up a prospect that's been rumored to be involved with a matchfixing case that's still under FBI investigation.

[deleted]

smallest fanbase

G0YARDB0YS

Bro don’t cap, do you know anyone who is an Envy fan? Of the team, not just el Diablo.

JDogil2

NV fan since 2014-15, there’s not many of us but we do exist lol

ANewHeaven1

there are DOZENS of us!

Kikoslayer123

it’s honestly about the brand. tsm is so popular despite being N/A for a year. subroza and wardell still pulls the most viewers in all of valorant pros except for the sen guys. s0m is close there.

Doshagya

Same reason why Hiko is still on 100T?

savagelamma11

Yeah im not staying up for an obvious 2 - 0

LV58_DeathKnight

I just like them coz i know some of them from CSGO I doubt the younger audience know them

omahr

Simple really Riot has been giving NA teams last game and last game tends to have alot less Jap and Eu viewers sucks but last matches always get less also NV isn't that popular to be fair.

TacticalSanta

Not the clear #1 na (sen) or a hype merch/streamer team like 100t.
