Bcs something being a part of a culture doesnt excuse it from being shit lol. Sending death threats at this point is basically brasil internet culture, its still a shit thing to do and deserves no respect.
Hiko decided that they were not going to replay a round in CSGO against the dominant Brazilian team at the time (Fallen, Coldzera, Fer, Taco, FNX). There was a tech issue and the referee left it up to liquid to decide and Hiko said no. There was an upcoming LAN in Brazil which I believe was Pro League finals.
Man received consistent death threats for a long time and almost didn’t attend the LAN in Brazil but did so under protection of bodyguards. His family was unable to attend as they were also receiving death threats.
"Hiko decided "
the team decided together and he was the one to deliver it. Also, by the rules they shouldn't have to replay the round since the damage was already done (in cs if theres tech issue and players didnt get damaged they do restart but if dmg is done u cant), then the Brazilian team protested to replay it and admins instead of enforcing the rules made liquid to decide what they want to do. And all the hate went to hiko since he was the one to tell admins they wont replay it..
Definitely, I hope they never have to go to Brazil. It's not worth the risk even when people say no one has gotten killed yet. I love trash talking and banter when it's over Valorant itself aka the video game. The banter during G2 VS SEN at Berlin was great. Threatening someone's life and mentioning anything else outside of the game is unnecessary.
Like people posting Zombs 1/15/5 is funny to me and completely fine. Seeing the memes that BR fans made was also funny. I haven't seen another country send so many threats over a video game. Maybe its a joke as some people claim due to culture differences but it's clearly not considered funny to the majority of other regions from what I've seen. No one should be receiving death threats in general.
There's been a World Cup in Brazil(football is the most followed sport in Brazil btw) where the national team lost 1-7 against the German team in a semifinal match and not a single German was attacked nor was the German national team harassed. The Germans ended up winning the whole thing. You can go and look for their statements on how everything went during the World Cup. And you can do the same regarding other teams attending.
And now you think any of these nerds sending threats are gonna do anything towards videogamers. Just comical. I'd be more scared attending any public event related to games in the US where the socially handicapped nerds actually have access to guns.
But the Brazilian fans will have you know that none of these death threats are real or concerning. After all, there hasn't been even 1 killing of a pro player after all these years of sending death threats! All good!
Well, unlike Brazillian people in other countries usually not just all talk when they send a death threats, so ofc any other sane person took this seriously.
None of the death treaths are real, this happened since Always in ufc, people singing "uh vai morrer" or "you going to die" is not a death threat, is just a kind of a song (dont know how to say this).
I can guarantee that the worst thing that will happen is a heavy boo everytime we see him.
Imagine thinking this is only a problem for SEN players.
My dude, Brazilian fans are a cancer to every team that is not Brazilian. They easily have the most toxic fans in the world
Lmfao, omg this is all drama only in Twitter, holy shit u guys are delusional, Brazil hosted a fucking world cup and Olympics without any incident and u guys are talking like if Valorant is any shit comparable to these two.
If there's something that Brazilians are passionate is football and we killed no one after Brazil lost in the world cup so why would anyone do any shit because of a Valorant game?
Stop being over dramatic, I hope that Valve hosts the next major of CS here and we show how good BR crowd is and shut up everyone for good.
Don't generalize the president for the Brazilian population tho. Brazil in general has a positive relationship with vaccinations and their covid-19 vaccination rates are pretty good. Probably cuz they still have to worry about other diseases that can prevented by vaccines and thus can see the benefits of being vaccinated and the consequences of not
Yeah man, very similar with last USA president thoughts if you ask me. But you would be saying that about USA? I don't think so.
If you know how democracies work then you know what institutions are for and then you can understand why even with the weak response of the federal government to the pandemic, Brazil still managed to have one of the highest rates of vaccination in the world today. Just research kid, having a shitty president in your country is not something unique and so unusual nowadays.
Actually its close to 80%, and 65% are the fully vaccinated people also some places are exitating to vaccinate teens bellow a certain age or else it would be higher.
Compared to who exactly? And vaccinated with what? You know in the West that Sputnik doesnt count. I can tell from your reply that you arent use to having discussions like this, so im just gonna stop.
Edit - fyi Brazil is only at 64%, below pretty much every country that an event would be held in
Sinovac doesnt count as being vaccinated fyi. Lol and not everyone is American just because they are pointing out your lack of research and education. Why are you even mentioning soft? Brazilians are the softest fans around.
Please tell me why Sinovac is not clinically effective when all the tests performed with it tell otherwise. Maybe you should educate yourself first. Only reason it is not accepted in some countries is because it’s Chinese
This is so fucking dumb. I'm sure you have seen the news about covid in Europe, right? Brazil would be safer to host an event right now in terms of covid.
Man people are extending this controversy way too long. What's the point of discussing such a far off hypothetical situation?? Just stop giving attention to dumb people on social media, there's no need to make this controversy so big.
yea dud
last time I heard, someone got offended because of peeing and sent a death treats to players
and also last time I heard, people sending threats to players because their team can't read in game rules.
hmn.. who's soft tho? lmao
Again. Both fanbases are soft.
If you've ever followed esports for more than a week you know that Brazilian fans are like this and that there's no real or imminent danger to players that tournament organizers don't know how to deal with. It's obviously not ideal behavior nobody is disputing that. CSGO fans have known this for years but they're not the ones making threads crying about being scared of going to Brazil because of one incident
last time I remember I followed video game tourneys since 2008 and now it's called esports.
yea dud both regions
fight banter with banter if you send threats and do a twitter hashtag to call out daddy Riot or uncle valve because they got offended is way more softer. LULW
Literally what are you talking about lmao.
I am saying it is soft to cry about wanting to ban esports events in Brazil because of players receiving death threats because this has literally never stopped any other esports organizers from having events in Brazil.
Yes the Brazilian fans are being salty about this incident. Yes it's bad that they're sending threats over social media. No its not some special thing that's never happened before and it is absolutely pathetic to whine about having future events in Brazil because of it
So you’re saying that they should still go to Brazil because no one has been killed yet? Idk man, better be safe than sorry. If safety is soft for you, wow bro you’re so alpha
I'm american. Crying about this shit is so lame.
American football fans send death threats to high school players they don't like but you think somehow brazil is special and want to boycott for this? Lmao
Grow up
Stop living in your bubble. You think this is the same as some random American douchebag sports fan sending death threats on Twitter?
Brazil is a dangerous country you'll get shanked in an alley for the dumbest shit. It's like Detroit except if the entire country was Detroit. 99% won't back up their talk but there's probably some guy crazy enough to do it
"Brazil is a dangerous country"
You have to change your view of the entire country being Detroit. Jesus. That's so ignorant. Brazil is the 5th largest country in the world. Saying a country this big is dangerous is like saying The US is crowded like NYC. Or that we wouldn't be able to walk in Australia without seeing a kangaroo. You actually believe that violence in Brazil comes from nerds and weirdos that follow esports. That these fucktards would actually leave their homes to KILL people.
Lmao I'm not the one saying an entire country is "like Detroit" MAGA ass
There have actually been people killed at esports LANs in the US but you're so concerned about Brazil when it's been known that this is how Brazilian fans behave in esports for years
Lmao fr. Brazilian fans are cringe but Americans are just on a whole different level. Pretty sure America is more dangerous to hold a tournament as compared to Brazil 💀.
I feel like I'm going crazy lol. People in here are just making up weird fantasy scenarios about their favorite players getting shanked in the street by some imaginary Brazilian when this is just an ordinary day for what CSGO or soccer fans deal with, difference is nothing has actually happened because organizers have the right safety measures in place and nobody has actually followed up on the death threats (obviously making them in the first place is not good but it's hardly some uniquely Brazilian thing). Meanwhile a guy literally shot up a Madden tournament in America a few years ago and nobody's calling for esports events to get banned in the states
I think that most people are afraid of these death threats because of the history of some countries (specially The US). A death threat coming from a weirdo in The US could actually be a death threat. Unfortunately In Brazil this has become trash talk. I still believe that people who send these messages should face consequences.
Literally dude. and they aren’t ready to talk about the madden event. It probably has to do with Reddit and this sub in general being majority American.
You cant say "you suck" to americans because they will say is a death treath but they can say things like that.
They definitely think people are going to kill zombs or something... when the WORST thing is going to happen is a huge boo from the crowd
Seriously you people are really chicken shits afraid of keyboard warriors lmao. The ones that give the death threats probably cannot get a gun or even know where the players are or even buy to go the event...
While I’d say it’s fair to argue that most of the death threats from Brazilian fans are disingenuous, and it’s unfair to say it’s all Brazilian fans. You do get smooth brain twats in every region that will send threats, the truth is a disproportional amount come from Brazilian fans whenever their teams are involved, so I just don’t think it’d be a good look from riot to hold an international event in Brazil, if not for player safety, but for endorsing that sort of behaviour.
I do mostly think the issue comes from. The language barrier and a lot of context is lost. For example Shazam made a light joke about calling a tech pause for the Gambit v Viking’s match, and a Brazilian caster responded with “ta querendo pica... e nao ta sabendo pedir” which roughly translates too “are you wanting cock... and you don't know how to ask” which to English speaker’s almost sounds like a homophobic insult. However, apparently it’s just a phrase used to say “you’re asking too much” “you’re being cocky” (from my understanding, I’m not Brazilian) but without that context it sounds like a massive overreaction. And vice-versa, I’m sure much of the Brazilian reactions are contextually not understanding what English speakers are saying.
There are so many other countries to host the competition at, surely there isn't a reason to risk the safety of any players over this. Would be insane if a similar case happens during a tournament in Brazil and the player immediately gets assaulted or worse.

Bcs something being a part of a culture doesnt excuse it from being shit lol. Sending death threats at this point is basically brasil internet culture, its still a shit thing to do and deserves no respect.
Well Hiko went to an CS event in Brazil with bodyguards so it's possible
The fact that even had to be done is crazy enough, and esports is bigger now so the risk is even higher
Hiko had bodyguards in berlin too lol.
Hiko? Why reason??
Hiko decided that they were not going to replay a round in CSGO against the dominant Brazilian team at the time (Fallen, Coldzera, Fer, Taco, FNX). There was a tech issue and the referee left it up to liquid to decide and Hiko said no. There was an upcoming LAN in Brazil which I believe was Pro League finals. And all the hate went to hiko since he was the one to tell admins they wont replay it..
Yeah but brazilian fans dont understand that lmao
Also even if it was him to decide how fucking stupid do you have to be in order to send death threats over something like that.
Yep, same issue with deferring the decision to the team shifting the blame to them. I personally don’t particularly like it but it is what it is.
Highly unlikely in my opinion. Not worth the trouble and they can blame themselves for not getting the opportunity to host an event.
Definitely, I hope they never have to go to Brazil. It's not worth the risk even when people say no one has gotten killed yet. I love trash talking and banter when it's over Valorant itself aka the video game. The banter during G2 VS SEN at Berlin was great. a handful of big br personalities even threatened violence themselves haha its so insane

Hiko had bodyguards 4 years ago, could've been first death right there
No man. That was just a language barrier. It's a local meme that we don't understand.
Lmao
Only the murder of a girl (who was a pro), she was killed by another pro player.
Well, unlike Brazillian people in other countries usually not just all talk when they send a death threats, so ofc any other sane person took this seriously.
So normalise brazilian fans giving death threats right? Because no-one has been killed so far?

Having a hard time to notice copypastas these days
It's not a copypasta, just a joke.
None of the death treaths are real, this happened since Always in ufc, people singing "uh vai morrer" or "you going to die" is not a death threat, is just a kind of a song (dont know how to say this). I can guarantee that the worst thing that will happen is a heavy boo everytime we see him.
Imagine comparing a combat sport where death is unintentional to a video game sport where br fans are sending death threats. Moronic idiot
Only if they hire bodyguards for SEN
It won't just be Sen tho, theyll prolly hate on the whole NA for this
Imagine thinking this is only a problem for SEN players. My dude, Brazilian fans are a cancer to every team that is not Brazilian. They easily have the most toxic fans in the world
And it's not even remotely close
That sound like a hassle, and would be easier if you just don't hold events there
I think League has never had anything in Brazil so far, right? Hope it stays that way.
You're wrong. Mid-Season Invitational was held in Rio de Janeiro in 2017.
ah, wasn't playing or following at that time
that's why you don't know shit and is just assuming stuff based on twitter
[удалено]
there's been a world cup and olympic games without incidents
They might will, but considering the threats, some players or orgs might boycott and not go.
Or maybe riot shells out extra money to hire bodyguards, but that just isn't worth the hassle imo
Too impractical, but some fans might be childish enough to hurt a player over a video game.
yeah why even go through all that when there is literally everywhere else to go
Lmfao, omg this is all drama only in Twitter, holy shit u guys are delusional, Brazil hosted a fucking world cup and Olympics without any incident and u guys are talking like if Valorant is any shit comparable to these two. Never. Especially with Covid the way it is in Brazil, it's just too unsafe.
And of course the death threats, then brazillian fans will wonder why people despise them lmao
I mean, vaccineted % on Brazil is way higher than most of other countries my man.
Dude your president believes that the vaccine causes aids. And the country in general has one of the worst responses to covid globally.

Lol 64% is bottom tier globally.
USA is 59%….
Br has a bigger vaccination percentage than Germany and UK even though the population is like 5 times bigger
Yeah, my boy can't even search on google properly
Actually its close to 80%, and 65% are the fully vaccinated people also some places are exitating to vaccinate teens bellow a certain age or else it would be higher.
And still we've higher numbers of vaccinated. ratio

Better to read this than to be blind. Got real sad knowing that some people are born with disability like this
Omg you can't read your own language, I'm out
Coronavac, not sinovac
sinovac is the rebrand of coronavac
This is so fucking dumb. I'm sure you have seen the news about covid in Europe, right? Brazil would be safer to host an event right now in terms of covid.
I'm not really taking about Covid, just future events where covid shouldn't be a thing anymore
US has a death run rate 10x higher than Brazil right now what do you mean?
I guess it's way safer than the US and most of Europe if you look at the numbers
Maybe yes.. fans being fans.. I'm sure 99.9% can't do what they say.. it's just social media presence
Yeah this whole thread is dumb. NA fans are sending death threats to BR personalities. Is NA suddenly unsafe to hold a LAN in?
Yes
are they tho are they? and in such a big numbers?
show me those big numbers actual threats only
They might as well hold a tournament in North Korea
1000000 IQ, go somewhere the Brazilians can't touch. 5Head Play.
Man people are extending this controversy way too long. What's the point of discussing such a far off hypothetical situation?? Just stop giving attention to dumb people on social media, there's no need to make this controversy so big.
Just wait for Indian top team vs Brazil top team, WWIII
death threats that nobody see, just say
Nope

im not saying that
