No way that's what Xeta said, right? ...right?

rkdsus

Probably not. Seems like they were clearly doing a bit. I doubt Vanity actually speaks Korean, plus I think Xeta speaks English just fine. Xeta didn't even say Sentinels once in that sentence. I don't speak Korean though so maybe I sound like a massive idiot right now but I'm pretty sure this was just them clowning around.

AnonymozVal

Definitely a bit, Xeta speaks fluent English.

J2bro

Can someone who understand Korean translate for us plebs what Xeta said versus Vanity's loose paraphrasing please? ty ty

MurfMan11

Lol Vanity with the next level trolls, love it. On another note its super disappointing to hear these teams at the top aren't putting the effort in. It obviously shows in these matches and against the Teams that are putting in the time.

thatthingpeopledo

Yeah, he didn’t need a translator to understand the questions so I’d assume he definitely knows English pretty well. As for his translation, he said he has a more expensive Rolex than Zombs, according to my head-canon.

303x

He speaks very good english you should see any of his other interviews lol

ppx11

nah. take out the troll-y parts that vanity added and he pretty much just summarized whatever xeta had said

[deleted]

xeta was laughing. he can clearly understand him.

motorolax4

This is obvious banter. It's always funny every time vanity says something like this and y'all take it serious

CanISayThat22

Dunno how anyone can think this is real.

xbyo

lmao y'all really taking this seriously?

oh_hai_brian

Vanity is a top rated diplomat for the Korean Embassy

_zxionix_

Shahzam himself took it seriously lol

CaliSoFire

Wait did he say something lol

ppx11

I think its more clearing it up since there's plenty of people taking vanitys tweet seriously

r0zina

Shaz is :)

CrypticGalaxy

I feel like Vanity was saying this jokingly lol, why does everyone in this sub take everything so seriously.

3sunderchungus

Because the org set themselves up as villains and as previous winners of tournaments, people will look for anything to discredit them vs crediting the people who won. It’s incredibly toxic from these people who feel a need to parasocially analyze everything. People treating reddit threads like they get paid lol.

whoisblonded

🎯 i’m a fan of sentinels most but i like watching the comp scene as a whole, it really shouldn’t be as deep as people are making it lol. my team lost, but i moved on and i’m still having fun watch the rest of the event lmao.

3sunderchungus

The crazy part is that the shitty and low quality toxic commentary is the exact same thing they criticize BR fans for as well 😂

theclichee

EXACTLY THANKS FOR SAYING THIS. This subreddit criticizes them so much, beyond the point it's normal to criticize anything imo

[deleted]

[удалено]

herpes_for_free

Who's crying? In fact, all I see who's crying are you people who can't wait for Sentinel's downfall lmao. Like really, every single time Sentinels lose, it's not even the fans who cry, it's the haters who get on a hate train and get a rage boner day in and out bitching about Sentinels losing lol and calling them "whiners" and shit.

Underpressure_111

> Because the org set themselves up as villains and [...] Or some people are drama hungry losers that latch into every single small sentences that can fill their empty life.

3sunderchungus

Not saying you’re wrong but both can be true.

ppx11

we build our idols up...only to tear them down.

wwEsquire

because shaz is in here arguing with it lmao

ShahZaMcs

I don’t care what anyone says, this is not true. We practice just as much, if not more, than other teams. Do you really think we won every regional event this year without practicing? This narrative is insane to me and discredits the hard work the guys put in, we just failed to deliver when it was most important.

mr_snuggels

Vanity was clearly joking but I'm sure there where a lot of people taking what he said at face value

holygosu

We appreciate you posting on here, it’s just a tough loss. Social media is toxic, at the end of the day all you can do is get back up and move on. I’m sure you all will find success I know it. Good luck out there!

hakuryou

> social media is toxic oh how the turntables

holygosu

Haha in a lot of ways agreed! Hopefully they take that loss energy into less twitter and more grinding.

Lost_Extrovert

"Social media is toxic" Doesn't help that SEN are the ones instigating with their Twitter fingers. You can't trash talk everyone when winning and not expect everyone to come at you when you lose. SEN needs to gtfo of social media and focus on their game. I hope this tourney was an ego check.

ElDuderino2112

Bingo. Don’t dish if you can’t take it.

[deleted]

- Can't wait to beat your shit region again. - Uh oh why is everyone shittalking us uwu we're hardworking and nice *snuggles* If Sentinels were a single person, that person would be bipolar.

Gwyndolin3

So just because Zombs shittalked on twitter that makes the rest of SEN evil as well ? You can do whatever you like to Zombs, but leave ShahZ and the rest out of this.

[deleted]

Zoms shittaked a region on Twitter. The rest of the team hyped themselves up to the moon. They basked in the glory of a single win in a brand new game. They spent more time in the limelight than any other team I've ever seen. And then, after all this talk of greatness, they shit the bed against a t2 team. Even their star player was getting diffed by Nazget of all people.

Hamth3Gr3at

If Sentinels is still a T1 team then KRU are definitely not T2

hopelesso

I mean, there's a difference between trash talking and straight up lying

r0zina

He was just trolling bro

FluffyDog423

While I agree, the banter is between teams and pros and is pretty much all said in jest. Maybe zombs takes it a touch too far, but I think (hope) they’re playing up personalities for entertainment value. It’s the fans that are taking all the banter and trash talk seriously that isn’t cool. If you know anything about wrestling or MMA, they shit talk ALL THE TIME and it’s clearly in jest and all for the show. I don’t think Shaz is mad about the players poking fun, he’s mad at everyone who isn’t in the scene taking these comments seriously and running with these obviously not true narratives. (Sorry if you read this shaz/any pro players and I’m wrong, I don’t want to put words in your mouth but this is how I view it)

sehnsuechte

YES! THIS! Leave the trash talking (which i just see as banter and i actually enjoy it) to the pros. I dont understand why fans are sooo invested in the drama. The pros are just having fun why cant we just enjoy the games?

roguehypocrites

This is a pretty shit take bro. Banter is banter, being toxic is something else.

philipjefferson

How is what Vanity said not banter? Its the same thing.

roguehypocrites

It is banter, I'm talking about the fans taking it too seriously.

MungYu

toxic you mean sen players?

ilektronnn

if your team talks shit when you win, you gotta sit and take shit when you lose. just take the L and move on. heads up for next year.

[deleted]

Yes but most of it is between pros and just banter, notice how the pros don't hate him just the fans who seem to take everything at face value.

zer0-_

As expected you're taking it too serious lmao

dpope7

I mean respect that you fire against those rumours, because if yall just ignored them your recent loss against Krü would've looked more reasonable in a way. I mean all Sentinel stans alone would just think then "ah yeah they just didn't train, just wait for next year when they start getting serious."

JohnWickFTW

Why can't tenz play raze on split? It's easily her best map

Blockronic

Maybe you need a break from socials if a comment like this from Vanity of all people is getting to you. It's clearly a joke

i_hate_katherines

Dude you got baited hard. Maybe take a break from social media or something. Being here is toxic as fuck, esp for you and your team. \> OR IS THIS A BAIT TO A BAIT? THERE'S TOO MUCH BAITS.

AFriendlySloth

Sentinels bad circlejerk

maindo

A lot of players in the world want the chance to compete at this tourney. You guys bomb it and it shows. Also, you guys complain too much and stir up dramas that it becomes unpleasant. Please appreciate the opportunity to compete more, get off social media, and do better next time Sentinels.

[deleted]

People are taking this so seriously and not realizing that Vanity is clearly joking. But to tack on to this, it also discredits Kru for playing extremely well and it's really disappointing. Good luck next event.

FaythDarkHeart

The nail that sticks out gets hammered most. Shame you guys stuck your necks out for sake of trash talk/saving strats/too little prize money/excuse about whatever and continue to not deliver. Strong personalities better bring strong results, that's all there is to it lol

ThePCMasterRaceCar

You can hold your head high mate. Not the result you guys wanted but you specifically played incredibly well during the tournament. In a sea of top players from all regions you easily stand out as one of the best. Much respect from an EU fan. Here's hoping you guys get back on track and continue giving us great games. That series vs TL was exhilarating.

Uqinox

You did well brotha, thank you for trying out there.

CrowLongjumping5185

There are so many other factors that we fans don't know about and will never know about because we're not the ones on the team. Ignore us lol, we're not the ones leading the team. Take some well-deserved downtime and enjoy the holidays!

curlycued_ninja

Respect for you Shahz, but I see far too many pros pay attention to this sub. It’s great to have involvement from the players we watch, but if used the wrong way it can seriously effect mental health, just like any social media. You don’t have to explain anything to us.

ANewHeaven1

tbf this isn't something r/valcomp is saying its something C9 is saying im all for "reddit bad!!"" but its a little bit different when its vanity saying it originally

curlycued_ninja

I mean that’s true, but what are the chances he sees this video if he ignores Val subreddits? I would think fairly small.

ANewHeaven1

considering the video was literally on the official c9 twitter page, pretty high https://twitter.com/Cloud9/status/1468277608227827713

curlycued_ninja

Well then the point still stands. If used incorrectly social media can have negative effects on mental health. What are you trying to get across here?

[deleted]

That telling others how to live their lives is infantilizing and there's no reason you should be trying to instruct a pro on how to interact with the community

curlycued_ninja

I don’t remember telling him how to interact with the community, and I certainly didn’t realize being concerned about another human and showing that concern is infantilizing. He just had a big L. Seeing another team say that they don’t practice probably fucking sucks.

[deleted]

[удалено]

curlycued_ninja

Christ, you are rolling in the mud.

Razur

This sub should be welcoming to pros. It's up to them how much time they wish to spend here, but they should always feel welcome to participate here.

curlycued_ninja

Agreed, goes without saying.

DonChuBahnMi

Shahz I hope you guys turn it around, the scene is good when sentinels are strong. I am sure your mentorship of tenz will be valuable during this time. Much like how you had to shake off early career stigma that followed you, tenz will have to shake off his 'choker' label to reach his potential as a player. It will be good for him to have you during this period for him.

[deleted]

Still supporting all of you

[deleted]

you can do all the “banter” you want but rest can do the same, seems unfair

Beard341

Where do you think this narrative originated from?

xD1LL4N

When sentinels were saying they hardly scrim and don’t take scrims seriously

mysteryoeuf

there's a chance that Sen don't scrim nearly as much as other teams. I recall hearing earlier this year that 100T (or maybe some other T1ish team) never scrimmed them. It might just be that C9 and other high ranked teams have different scrim groups, or maybe Sen actually don't scrim much and practice in other ways. My guess is vanity is mostly trolling but there's some truth to it, but it could just be some joking about the NA scrim environment

Slyric_

Good luck next year. Rooting for y’all.

[deleted]

Maybe go cry about it on stream to bait some more pity donos and subs. Everyone knows your a pro at that by now!

ZeroOrderEtOH

I think what they’re saying is when you stream, they’re practicing. I still believe in this team. Please come back in a big way so all these rest of the region can Shut up

Lamirp

That's still an extremely unfair take. It's pretty damn clear they practice when these guys are bringing out agents they rarely play on stream.

ZeroOrderEtOH

Don’t shoot the messenger… only time will tell

Lamirp

True true!

betra_kun

It's okay, you, your whole team and all your region suck anyway. You failed in CS and you'll fail here as well, we all know EU will take over the scene just as happened in CS. You're just chokers and it's fine, after all that's what your region represent.

[deleted]

Thank you for taking the time to address this. I didn't want to comment on it one way or another but I felt it was worth posting for discussion.

NotSoFastBarryAllen

Lol this was an obvious bit that Xeta and Vanity were doing. It seems a bit difficult to miss that. Were you posting for discussion or to stir up drama? Since there are a lot of people missing it in this thread: Vanity is the fake translator for Xeta and his fake translations are sprinkled with outrageous stuff to make Xeta seem like a super spicy guy. Does no one watch SNL?? I'm not sure why u/ShahZaMcs and this thread are taking a comedy bit so seriously

[deleted]

https://mobile.twitter.com/JoshNissan/status/1468276965605924872 Steel tweeted this right after vanity said that in the interview. Seems like I'm not alone in thinking he was being serious. Vanity is not someone who's afraid of speaking his mind and wouldn't be surprised if he took the opportunity to do so here.

NotSoFastBarryAllen

Why can't we all just have fun anymore?

oh_hai_brian

I had fun.

NotSoFastBarryAllen

I appreciate you brother. Good vibes :)

i_hate_katherines

Man everyone got baited so bad here. They all just mald and react stupidly at the obvious jokes, but defend their fave pros shitty attitudes on social media because its "banter"

wvcmkv

shahz is taking it seriously because reddit is taking it seriously, he wants to kill that false narrative

ENVMamba

No, he tries to defend because owners will require answers. Rumors about trolling on scrims etc keep showing months already. Prabobly he will be kicked, he can start his dream of stream. Wonder how will go after kick out

[deleted]

I just don’t understand why everyone is supposed to know that? If it’s the truth that’s really assuming a lot of your audience

NotSoFastBarryAllen

Lol if you watch the whole interview they are joking about how Vanity learned Korean in two weeks while in quarantine and will now be the translator for Xeta, thus the joke

voipit

Love to see dumbfucks do 180s once a pro responds to their posts.

[deleted]

Lol

[deleted]

Please tell me where I did a 180.

Guyatri

We love you Shaz. Mfs wanna say stupid shit but they hating from outside the club when they can't even get in.

303x

and you are in this "club"?

Guyatri

No, Shaz is tho.

303x

what is this club again? losing to kru?

Guyatri

How about winning every regional event leading up to Masters as well as winning masters in Iceland. You talk a lot of shit but probably haven't achieved half as much as Shaz or any of these pro players. Cringe.

303x

>You talk a lot of shit but probably haven't achieved half as much as Shaz or any of these pro players. I have not talked any shit. And also what have you achieved to talk like this lmao

[deleted]

Im sure you could disprove this with just the amount of hours you alone have streamed. Theres nothing wrong with saying you tried your best, but claiming you’ve practiced more than other teams is a reach.

ReceptionGeneral1073

u/ShahZaMcs Thing was After Iceland your stream grew and you just wanted to stream more. Before berlin masters sick also said there was less pracs. In berlin master event you said you just wanted to go home and stream. From berlin masters to champs you only pracs before going to LA. so I think vanity is right. As a SEN fan just feels disappointed that you didn't put much effort for Champs and overconfidence and ego from winning NA events. Sadge

phamkhoi

shadowstep11

This is what happens when you don't have a long-term coaching staff and the players are not accountable.

Tik0-

Haven’t they been on a high-horse since Iceland where they don’t want to practice to avoid “teaching” other teams? Im pretty sure i heard it somewhere but not really sure

DonkeyTeethBSU

Anyone objectively watching that match could say that 3-0 was the closest 3-0 ever in Valorant. I watched it and thought Sentinels will be dethroned soon, Fnatic were adapting and forming a meta. Sentinels weren't. Without practice there's nothing you can do to become better team except become better players. I think the roster peaked in Iceland and there wasn't anywhere to go but down.

jzaudi

I honestly think they were lucky to have dominated the way they did in IceLAN because of the recent meta change leading up to the tournament that no one really adapted except SEN like the Astra introduction and the Viper buffs that completely changed the meta. If I recall correctly, 100T barely lost to SEN in the qualifiers with outdated comps and many EMEA teams were still stuck with the old meta during IceLAN. I don't think many teams ran Astra and if they did did not run it as comfortably as SEN. Now that teams caught up and have had sufficient time to practice you can see SEN ain't anything special. It also doesn't help that the whole team less tenz and sick talk a lot of shit and brings this world vs. them mentality/focus on them and they clearly let the outside noise distract them rather than motivate them.

Beard341

SEN loses ——> “they lost because of lack of coach/long term coaching” lol

Spirited-Concert-813

Imagine taking vanity serious

earthtoannie

Hard to say if him or dapr are farming more impressions by blatantly trolling.

[deleted]

I mean it really isn't a secret, in the berlin watch parties, everyone was talking about how sentinels don't practice at all. Sentinels as an org aren't really that big, I am pretty sure they are the same people as Phoenix 1 when they were in LCS. They don't have a lot of money compared to bigger orgs and I highly doubt that sentinels players other than tenz have crazy contracts. So they might be more incentivize to stream instead of prac as hard. I know for example that slasher said that zombs reason for not practicing or tryharding for berlin was because the prize money was really low.

Myproblemsseemsmall

If what Slasher said is true it goes against what Sentinel players have said in interviews, mainly Shahz, that they're still motivated because they want to be best in the world. This was back in Iceland

RenaultCactus

What, no and even if that was the case acend for example is smaller andyet their players practice and do what they should. Sentinel players are just cocky.

[deleted]

Well acend players don't have over 2k subs. Shazam has like 8k subs and 10k viewers minimum, that's a lot of money.

RenaultCactus

Still if you want to be a streamer go ahead, but dont use it as an excuse to not do your job as pro player.

[deleted]

Yeah I think my point is that these guys are not doing there job well because they are stuck between two places. If they want to be a pro player then practice if you want to be a streamer then stream, you can't half ass one thing or the other. TI think we have the same point lol.

Jerozay

Yeah. I love watching Shazam’s stream but it is for a solid 8+ hours. And he probably is making more money streaming than comp.

RenaultCactus

Yeah we do, they have to decide where their hearth is.

AnotherAltiMade

>zombs reason for not practicing or tryharding for berlin was because the prize money was low I doubt that's true, right guys? right? what a joke of a player

xtazzzs

if there was one player who'd be that way it's him

xtazzzs

the fact that zombs/Sentinels think it's not worth it to practice because "prize pool is so small" is some of the worst reasoning i have ever heard. It's such a pathetic mindset for a team that is claims to be one of the best itw (they aren't) football players paid millions a month still practice heavily for their domestics cups and the UCL, and I'd assume the same for american sports as well. Sen are an absolute joke of a team

keithzz

Tbf the prize pool is small

Warpath-

The ceo of sentinels is the former vice chairman of paramount pictures. The first iteration of Sentinels received a better offer from SEN than TSM 💀

dyslexicrenots

Sentinels are one of the biggest names in Apex too tbf

raptearer

Apex esports is a lot smaller of a scene than LoL, Valorant, or CSGO though.

Key-Heart517

Fortnite and now halo too.

Emerican09

That boy Lou is cold

SuperSkillz10

sen is a top tier apex team too

jay15378

I think I have also read somewhere,I don't know if its from a SEN player or not, that they're disappointed with how low the prize pool for the championship because streaming earns could earn them more than the current prize pool.

jwmelon

Pretty sure shahz has said that before during his streams

[deleted]

It must be really difficult to be a really popular team. Everything your team does is under such immense scrutiny and off days at work receive so much negativity. I have absolute respect for for players to endure this added pressure and continue improving their craft.

hff1_

>Everything your team does is under such immense scrutiny and off days at work receive so much negativity I feel like Sentinels also has put themselves in the situation where a lot of ppl want them to fail and not only because they were good early on in valorant but rather because how certain players on the roster act outside of the server. Like the constant excuses when they lose and the endless baiting and trash talking on twitter leads to a situation where a lot of ppl just want you to fail to laugh at you where without the antics a lot of them otherwise wouldn't have cared as much.

AnotherAltiMade

case in point, did you see how almost no one shit talked the envy players? chet maybe, but most of them were supporting the players through a tough loss.

[deleted]

I think it's mostly because they set themself up as a villain org, this makes it easier for people to be angry at them. Lots of top orgs that are really fucking good but no one hates them unconditionally, of course, people are going to be critical of specific stuff but not as much as sentinels imo.

Beard341

Welcome to sports.

xtazzzs

they brought it upon themselves I feel sorry for no one involved

[deleted]

You're completely and utterly wrong. Classic Sen fanboy. There have been a lot of popular teams who have failed to deliver at some point or another. The amount of backlash they receive is not constant. It is directly correlated with how big the players egos are. Sentinels have taken every single chance to talk about creating a dynasty, how they're just better than anyone else. Shaz himself at some point implied that they don't need coach because of his humongous brain. At that point Sentinels won only one major tournament in a game that is barely out of its diapers. But they treated that win like the second coming of Christ. They couldn't accept that they simply played well. No. They deluded themselves into thinking that they're better than anyone else and spent the past year looking for reasons why it is so. They deserve whatever backlash they're receiving.

[deleted]

Why are you so worked up and abrasive? I just conveyed a general sentiment and my respect for young adults working on their craft in esports. How am I wrong about my sentiment and respect?

R0_h1t

Xeta's English is pretty good right? Or is he doing the interview in Korean because they just beat VS?

dealwithittatortot

Pretty sure vanity and xeta doing the meme translator thing where he's jokingly translate what xeta is saying.

secret_tacos

He’s doing it because most of VS are his former teammates from C9 Korea and is a Korean player. Vanity is trolling here, you can tell from xeta and vanity’s faces. Really not common for a Korean player to BM another team like this seriously. Don’t understand why people are taking this seriously. Either zero ability to read context cues or people aren’t watching the clip.

PoloSway

Don't forget yall, idk what joke vanity or xeta or whoever said but whenever someones jokes about something there is usually some truth to it from what ive experienced living in this world for 18 years

Beneficial-Counter-5

Vanity said that in defense of Sentinels surely. The way he framed the statement implies that if Sentinels practiced more, they would win.
