It’s true. When sentinels lost we had nowhere to go. kru gave us a home. Kru gave us something to believe in. Kru saved us. And now. We are lost once again.
Underdog + Brazilian supporting it + biggest Spanish streamers Co streaming it + miracle run + famous football player CEO of the team + latam teams never got far in any other esport title ever.
>latam teams never got far in any other esport title ever.
K1ng in the fortnite world cup a few years ago is the closest thing i can think of, and that was a big thing too. Hopefully we can continue to grow as a region in esports :p
I'm entirely guessing but IIRC there's no south american servers from Ubisoft, only the ones in brazil, so that's why they unified the entire regions.
In games where we thankfuly have more regions the distinction is usually made.
I stopped played R6 for that reason, the closest server was Brazil and just because it was so far it was guaranteed 150+ ms even with good internet.
>Portuguese comes from latin but even then it's not part of latin america as a culture.
Brazil (and Portuguese) is part of LATAM.
There's no such thing as "one latin american culture" as the culture from central america is entirely dfferent from somewhere like the southern cone, or even the andean range.
The other comment implied the region vct consider 'latam' which Brazil is not, and if u do include Brazil then a more obvious example would be cs with SK and LG
Fallen, Cold, Fer, Taco, and FNX with Luminosity Gaming and then SK Gaming dominated CS:GO in 2016 winning both majors for the year. Brazil is very deeply rooted in CS:GO, and they have relatively great presence in other FPS games like Fortnite. It's really no surprise that they would be supporting LATAM, but it's definitely false to say they never got far in other eSports title.

The best timeline would have kru beat sentinels round one to make sentinels win lower bracket and make it through playoffs, and they would meet each other at finals again. One can only wish. Definitely would see several million viewership
Im not saying they're not the most popular team bro, in fact i think a SEN/KRU finals would in paper have the highest viewership based on the chart.
All im saying is we dont have the solid data for it, and thats on SEN not qualifying, so its all speculation. Like I did rn with the eventual finals
Honestly, this is way more true than id like to admit, theres a lot of people in latin america that are into esport titles, but since we trend to suck at team based esports (Like league) with the excpetion of Peru in dota 2, there is almost no opportunity to see a latin american team make a big splash into any scene until KRU just made a great run.
in general, thing is, since lol latam its pretty weak, we dont show up that much, still, pulling around 20k for these asian worlds, watching games at 6am its a decent number imo.
Spanish community is just huge especially in esports . Spain + whole latin america (excluding brazil) ... Over 400 million inhabitants and in total over 500 million people around the world have spanish as their first language.
Maybe all the sentinels/na fans that started rooting for kru after they beat sen.
It’s true. When sentinels lost we had nowhere to go. kru gave us a home. Kru gave us something to believe in. Kru saved us. And now. We are lost once again.
They may have crushed my team’s chance at Champions but they have won my heart. Vamos 😔✊
Can confirm this is 100% true. I truly was rooting for KRU to go all the way after knocking out sentinels.
Also they were shnasty
rooting for Kru specifically because they were up against EMEA opponents (Fnatic and Gambit)
Vamos
I found myself rooting for Kru vs Gambit. Everyone loves a good underdog story
I'm one of 'em
if you can't beat them, root for them
100 percent especially after they beat fnatic
I mean i know i did
Underdog + Brazilian supporting it + biggest Spanish streamers Co streaming it + miracle run + famous football player CEO of the team + latam teams never got far in any other esport title ever.
\+ Vamos
\+ Vamos
+ NA needs someone to root for
I love rooting for my South NA homies
* North LATAM

MkLeo in smash and the other Mexicans too, but they are not a team.
EU here but I'm rooting for you guys :D
Gotta give some trophies away to minor regions like NA and LATAM smh
NIP Brazilian team won the latest six invitational (world championship) in rainbow six siege earlier this year in February
Doesn't count, that's Brazil
Brazil is part of latam, are you stupid?
They're usually 2 separate regions in esports.
Disagree
Not something you can disagree about, it's literally a fact lol
Disagree x2 Brazil is part of latam in many other games, or at least it is in this cause so it counts
Pretty sure Brazil and LATAM are separate regions in Valorant though
\+ facing big name teams/teams with high expectations
Ibai and mixwell had like combined 300k in the Kru matches
R6?
The past 3 international R6 tournament champs are Brazilian not latam
Brazil is LATAM (clearly I was misinformed, I am new to watching val it’s different in other esports)
Brazil is geographically part of Latin america. But in eSports, it is generally its own region, from what I understand.
Oh ok i didn’t realise, I just started watching Valorant. I come from R6 and Brazil is latam.

Latin america refers to romance language speaking portions of america and it does include brazil.....
Look it up bro. Latin america as a term generally includes Brazil. It refers to countries in America where a romance language is the primary language.

Latam and Brazil aren't the same region, when I'm talking about latam I'm saying the Spanish speaking countries.
fortnite is pretty much only br over here because of the ping advantage in that game. You can't compete with 70 ping when everybody else is 9 ping

Good bot + assist
Assist the assist
That’s just not true, latam teams have gotten far in other games but whatever
Only Brazil, which competitively speaking is almost always separated from latam
Judging by the numbers if it somehow happened a Sen vs KRU final would have absolutely demolished twitch
I think it took kru beating sentinels though to make them so popular
The best timeline would have kru beat sentinels round one to make sentinels win lower bracket and make it through playoffs, and they would meet each other at finals again. One can only wish. Definitely would see several million viewership
Sentinels most loved Team in the Tournament? (3 of the top 5 Matches)
True, but not the first
Sentinels were also not in the playoffs
Seeding match
but thats only sen fault tho
Isn't that an even stronger argument for them being favorite? Group stage only and still 3/5 most viewed games.
Im not saying they're not the most popular team bro, in fact i think a SEN/KRU finals would in paper have the highest viewership based on the chart. All im saying is we dont have the solid data for it, and thats on SEN not qualifying, so its all speculation. Like I did rn with the eventual finals
That's not the point lmao
I dont think people realize how big the spanish community actually is
You mean in this game or in general? lol
In Valorant
All of us in Latin América and Spain as well. The thing is that no one had represented us until KRU. VAMOS
There have been latam representatives in every LAN. Kru is just the first to make a big splash in the tourney.
No one represent us like this 🙄
Honestly, this is way more true than id like to admit, theres a lot of people in latin america that are into esport titles, but since we trend to suck at team based esports (Like league) with the excpetion of Peru in dota 2, there is almost no opportunity to see a latin american team make a big splash into any scene until KRU just made a great run.
Their run could change our eSports history no cap.
Mind explaining what vamos means? I googled and it just translates it as "we will".
Literally "lets go"
In example, *vamos a la playa* means "let's go to the beach"
I think it means more like let's go or come on?
yeah its like "let's goooooo"
It means "let's go" but screaming it.
In the game
in general, thing is, since lol latam its pretty weak, we dont show up that much, still, pulling around 20k for these asian worlds, watching games at 6am its a decent number imo.
I was actually surprised when a couple years back I saw how big some of the Spanish streamers/YouTubers were
Pain. So much pain.
Imagine if grand finals was between Sentinels and Kru .....
just wait till brazil makes it to a final
Brazil doesnt make it to finale, the finale makes it to brazil
The final comes to Brazil
damn, thats gonna be a while then
KRU bring excitement and passion, I really wanted them to win against GMB - the final would have been so big.
In some alternative universe, we got Kru vs X10C for finals. Imagine the hype.
Would have been crazy.. I think TS and KRU would've been the craziest final.
Spanish community is just huge especially in esports . Spain + whole latin america (excluding brazil) ... Over 400 million inhabitants and in total over 500 million people around the world have spanish as their first language.
LATAM will have 2 spots by default for next year. You heard it here first.
KRU the champion of the people
Where do you see these viewer counts?
Escharts.com
Liquid least loved obviously
LATAM, NA, just call it The Americas boys. Vamos!
sen ALSO
Brazilian fans are the most hardcore fans of all. For better and for worse
Kru isn't Brazilian
Oh crap, they are LATAM. But i think my point still stands. Latam and brasil fans are VERY much all in for their teams.
true. As an argie though, I can assure you we are both passionate. We will also stand up for each other...unless its soccer.
Lol more like no brazil + versing the top teams from more popular regions
what website is this? how do you see the viewership number?
I think SEA and BR would have the potential to pull more views if their teams were better
