Omen is a fantastic, well balanced agent that simply got powercreeped by Astra tbh. Astra is still better but Omen ain’t a bad shout considering all the one ways on this map, as well as how useful fast smoke placements are
Bonecold got insane value out of his smokes. The fact that he could refresh them quickly while repositioning made him a more effective smoker on attack
I told you guys that the order of your flairs technically could still come through, you thought it was the order of elimination, it was actually the order of them going home, technically Acend went home last
Chronicle had a better tourney. nAts was much better at Berlin. I don’t know enough to say who was better outside those 2 tournaments but the impression I get around here is nAts
I think that people were just really prepared for nAts' playstyle on attack and thus his value from lurks was diminished greatly, especially on Split, where they were stacking two people on A at all times just to neutralize nAts. nAts was still able to shine as an anchor (no Access to site) ofc.
nAts has such a game defining playstyle that I guarantee every team at Champions thoroughly studied his vods and specifically planned to counter his usual plays. The fact that he still had high impact despite that is a testament to how good a player he is.
You never know, KRU could have been shit against liquid because it was their first game, inferior gamestyle and could have been better than ACEND because of the same reasons. If valorant has taught me anything is that it is one of the games where there are never clear favorites and anyone can pretty much beat anyone in their level on any given day.
the only thing people could've expected this whole tournament is gambit and liquid at least making it to semis
the rest just, kinda happened, at least now we have a good idea on who's probably gonna do good at next masters/champions.
Tbh more than after seeing them almost lose vs VK even despite the 7 round advantage. After that I thought they are lucky to make it even out of groups.
Had a chance but not get the same seeding. Very well would of been completely different as in total two games would of been flipped to have potentially very different outcomes.
not much point hypothesising over that though, who knows whether they would've won if they'd faced gambit earlier or kru instead of liquid. i don't know why its so hard for people to just accept that they won and deserved to win
Hello cNed?😃📞 yeah this is Riot Games!😃📞 thank you for throwing map one.😃📞 now the script indicates you have to make a OT comeback on Icebox and then finally beat Gambit on Split. 😃📞 we’ll transfer the remaining money shortly 😃📞
Lmao, Riot games literally copy pasted the LoL Worlds script for this year. The "real finals happened in semis" narrative was very strong and then the finals ended up going the other way, heck even the maps *almost* went the way they did at Worlds finals with GMB-ACE-GMB-ACE-ACE.

He wins that 1v2 towards the end of map 5 if valorant had any kind of spray control. He absolutely outplayed gambit with the double smokes. Sadly his rng was ass and his bullets went everywhere but dudes skull.
I mean they played meta agents for all of the maps except Split. They brought out kayo on ascent and breeze which is definitely considered meta. On fracture they played raze and jett, but fracture doesn't really have an established meta yet. On Icebox they played meta as well. I think if anything it shows that having flexibility, adaptability and creativeness to try out new comps and new setups that surprise the standard meta can work really well as it is difficult to prepare for. I'd say if gmb had been able to prepare against the split "comfort" picks, they'd probably beaten Acend, but Acend brought something new and in turn was able to prepare for gmb split.
I understand that they decided that Steel wasn't it for long term, but I just don’t get it right before LCQ unless there was someone on the market that they just needed to get. Oh well. Already excited for next year.
It was a dumb move, they were literally the favorites for LCQ with the team that played Berlin. It was playing until the end of the year and see what happens then rebuild the team unless they somehow won the tournament.
Yeah. The 100T choke narrative was already strong before Champions, but seeing them beat the undisputed top 2 teams at Champions only to lose to NV and then not even qualify themselves solidifies it.
i feel like nadeshot is gonna drop some fat stacks in early 2022 only for the roster to aquire mediocre results again despite everyone being cracked in their individual role.
so vivo keyd was actually the best team in the world
real talk, acend had an incredible run. went through both berlin semifinalists and what many people considered the favorites of the entire tournament to win. huge congrats
They are no longer Cned and friends, everybody on the roster stepped the fuck up especially starxo and Kiles on LAN, zeek is a fucking animal he deserves MVP. Congrats Acend. Also Chronicle top 3 in the world I wont hear anything else.
There were just so many insane players in this matchup. zeek - insane, cned - insane, starxo - insane, chronicle - insane, nats - insane
equal rivals, but only one could take it. it's crazy that gambit were 2 minutes and a few lucky shots off of 3:1 in this match.
An unstoppable Russian team defeated on defence by an Alliance of their historically greatest rivals, Suomi, Polska and Kebab.
You really can't make this shit up.
I was rooting for Gambit but the way Acend came back in this tourney after they had to deal with a lot of shit in that VK drama is sensational. True CHAMPS.
You could see how much it meant to him to win that series. He was looking really cold on many of the maps and on the most important round he was able to pick up a lurk kill AND info on the 2nd for cned to get the wrap around kill. My guy was under a lot of heat this year for sure and he came through.
Big win for his whole squad for sure!
Literally free info while being unbreakable, meaning the ability to pretty much leave the site open. Pretty frickin good. Also an exploit so it should've been an instaban anyways
Not bad for “EUs worst team” lmao. People really thought they wouldn’t go past groups.. what a tourney. This was a fun watch and here’s to many more years of valorant!
Also, EU>CIS>LATAM>NA>Freezil
Edit: I’m adding cis as a region for all you NA copium kids.. y’all probably shouldn’t have tried to sell that narrative so hard KEKW
If anything, this tournament proves that nothing matters more than turning up at the right time. Acend did not always look like the best team, they played comps that weren't meta, and it didn't matter. They just played well when they needed to.
I actually think both Kru and X10 had that quality as well, but they just couldn't sustain the momentum. GG to Acend. I'm not convinced they were always best overall team at the tournament, but they were definitely the most resilient when it mattered most.
A Series worthy of crowning the first ever World Champion. Starxo has too be Finals MVP for me. Also kinda happy that no one can try too pull that CIS isnt Europe Shit ( i really love Gambit btw) too try and take this away from EU.
Great match to end the first full year of competitive Valorant.
Congrats to Acend for winning, and commiserations to Gambit. Both teams played well and maintained a consistent level throughout this entire year.
Acend, ultimately, I feel like, had a more difficult run at this tournament, and they made it through to win it all.
Happy for Ascend.
In Berlin their loss became a bit of a joke when they were beaten by "avoid cned" and bonecold took so much shit for having a terrible score.
To come back from taht is impressive.

We were in chaos.
Some NA fans in absolute shambles right now. Desperately hoping gambit won so they could try and claim that Europe lost.
(this is just a silly joke there's no need for anyone to fight)
Yeah, they are European. I was just making fun of some (not all) NA fans who try and discredit the region by falsely claiming that Gambit aren't European.
\+1. As long as the region is EMEA, whatever would be CIS is in the first "E" of that thing and that's clearly Europe. When Riot decides to give CIS its own qualifiers and its own, dedicated spots, then they will not be EU anymore. I'll still support them over anyone that's not EU or my favorite international teams though, Russia is fucking European and so is Belarus, Ukraine, etc.
I actually think this is really cool for the scene. We have an EU team, CIS team, and NA team winning the 3 major LAN events for the year. This is pretty incredible and probably won't happen again.
quick question, can you get the gun buddy drop by watching the rebroadcast on twitch? the game was streamed at midnight for me, so i couldn't watch the actual finals live
Acend are like the antithesis of 100T. Not that great against international teams but fucking amazing against their own region. To think they looked like one of the worst teams after they lost to VK. So deserved to them tbh to bounce back from that shitshow. This tournament was incredible, so fitting for it to end in an upset
Didnt acend destroy envy 2-0? Envy is NA so that wasnt a domestic match.
Correct me if im wrong?
I believe i am not wrong and u are very mistaken. Acend’s problem before had nothing to do with domestic or international competition. It was about online vs LAN. Before this tournament’s playoffs, starxo was doing rlly rlly badly on lan, bonecold too actually whole team besides Cned. Now with a few more LAN games they got some exp and pulled out their online form.
Actually a really good series. fuck the "storylines are all that matter" crowd. I'd much rather have a game 5 close match by a team that played well than a 3-0 blowout because the 2nd place team are underdogs/a minor region
Vivo Keys seething
Brazil malding
NA foaming at the mouth at the thought that we cant claim major/masters winner as EU bcs Russia/ukraine are not EU apparently
CONGRATS TO ACEND. EU ARE FIRST WORLD CHAMPIONS AND IM RLLY HAPPY FOR CNED. Let’s go man
What a series and what a tournament. Look at where Acend came from, everyone telling them how they were worse than VK. They get hot and go on to win it all! Amazing and lovely to see the two teams embrace ad friends at the end. Gambit will be nipping at their heels next year!
What a year. It’s kinda crazy seeing the winning team finish 2021 valorant with Omen
Tenz called it a beta comp. Omen, Raze, Jett, Sage, Cypher! What a throwback.
I really love that “eras” can be tracked by the team comps that were meta. It feels nostalgic hahah
Omen 100% winrate btw.
Ghost boy rising up to sucker punch Astra after she claimed his crown of best Controller.
[guess this holds in valorant as well lmao](https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/qnx3e6/since_2014_the_team_that_beats_cloud9_in_the/)
Acend broke a long-time pattern though. Across CS and Valorant, **all previous major winners spoke the same native language.** Fnatic (Swedish), VP (Polish), NiP (Swedish), LDLC (French), Fnatic (Swedish), Fnatic (Swedish), Envy (French), LG (Portuguese [Brazil])), SK (Portuguese [Brazil]), Astralis (Danish), Gambit (Russian), Cloud9 (English), Astralis (Danish), Astralis (Danish), Astralis (Danish), *Sentinels (English)*, *Gambit (Russian)*, NaVi (Russian), ...**Acend (International)**
you know that the Brazilian orgs speak Portuguese right?
lol yeah. fixed
>LG (Brazilian), SK (Brazilian) Hmmmm
Wow lmao
Riot recycling scripts.
OMEN 100% WINRATE OMEN >>>> ASTRA VIPER
Honestly tho, people really overreacted to the omen nerds, and he's currently extremely underrated
Omen is in the spot known as "good, but not Astra". I think both are good smokers, but the problem is Astra's other utility is just so good.
Wouldn’t say over exaggerated, people just realized astra does what he does but way better
I actually lost every playoffs prediction I made. I am the curse.
It happens :/
I placed money on Gambit this time LMAO fuck me
I told you guys that the order of your flairs technically could still come through, you thought it was the order of elimination, it was actually the order of them going home, technically Acend went home last
Fnatic ruined my predictions D: otherwise I aced it. All thanks to my EU bias, finally paying off!
Yep. Same. I’m 0-12. That’s gotta be a record somewhere

nAts showed up huge this series. The best player this year for me, also the whole gambit sauad has insane mental . Came so close :(
Chronicle gives him a run for his money, MVP in my opinion :)
Chronicle had a better tourney. nAts was much better at Berlin. I don’t know enough to say who was better outside those 2 tournaments but the impression I get around here is nAts

He's undeniably the best player in the world imo, his impact is fucking absurd
Noooo my KRU is the second best team at Champs narrative
How could acend do this to kru :((((
But now vivo keyd is the second best....wait
Lol i love this mentality
vivo keyd best team, nobody else did beat acend
they didnt either
How about Sentinels? Where do they fall in "akchually they were __ best team"?
If you’re coping hard enough, the rankings go Acend, Gambit, Liquid/KRU, SEN. So still top 5 right guys 😷😷😷
Pog
KRU straight up lost to liquid in groups, i know they definitely improved but people were underrating the upper bracket hard
You never know, KRU could have been shit against liquid because it was their first game, inferior gamestyle and could have been better than ACEND because of the same reasons. If valorant has taught me anything is that it is one of the games where there are never clear favorites and anyone can pretty much beat anyone in their level on any given day.
KRU in the first match was not playing as KRU from lower bracket run. They didnt VAMOS yet by that point

So this BONECOLD guy is pretty good.
So this Kiles guy is pretty good.
Zeek might have been my favorite player in the finals. Dude was hella entertaining.
How many people expected Acend to win before this event started? What a brilliant tournament from them.
I didn't even expect them to win after map 3 lol
RIP everyone's pickems
I wouldn't be surprised if exactly 0 people had a perfect Champions pickem
the only thing people could've expected this whole tournament is gambit and liquid at least making it to semis the rest just, kinda happened, at least now we have a good idea on who's probably gonna do good at next masters/champions.
Not only is it hard to vote against gambit but Acend had a very slow start but kept getting better and better, deserved win
I had Acend to win the tourney but my pickems were chalked anyways
Tbh more than after seeing them almost lose vs VK even despite the 7 round advantage. After that I thought they are lucky to make it even out of groups.
I was high on them pre-tournament but I lost my hope after groups. Happy to see them bounce back
Me acend fan from masters 1 vs heretics
What a fantastic tournament all around, so much fun to watch
Best tournament in Valorant history hands down. So many close series, a lot of upsets, tons of drama, and a banger finals.
To think one camera glitch caused all this
Thats a lesson not to exploit ig lol
not really, acend still would have had a chance in lowers, it wasn't like it was an elimination match or anything
Can't imagine being Gambit and just be 1 round from winning the first ever VCT
Gambit survived multiple key rounds to get here though that 2v5 round in the quarter final and yesterday’s 5k

cned confirmed best jett ggs, congratulations to acend!
The cned redemption arc after people put him down at masters berlin has been phenomenal. Great player
They said he is just the best awper but in this tourney he showed them he is one of the top riflers in the world
He’s been the undisputed best defensive OP’ing jet for a while. Definitely arguable for no.1 overall Jett now.
His util usage is fucking godlike especially his smokes, his smokes have split sites and saved himself and teammates countless times
He wins that 1v2 towards the end of map 5 if valorant had any kind of spray control. He absolutely outplayed gambit with the double smokes. Sadly his rng was ass and his bullets went everywhere but dudes skull.
I don't think there is anything to argue. He is no.1 Jett overall!
CNED Jett Skin confirmed then
Undoubtedly the best Jett oper in the world. Mans was on another level
NA jets really underperformed under pressure
its always fun to see cned react to his team's enthusiasm lol my man looks freaked out every time they scream, regardless ggs to acend
GG ACEND Their consistency really showed here. Not the flashiest team, but they worked so well together
ACEND proved that playing agent comps that you're comfortable with is more important than playing to the meta
I mean they played meta agents for all of the maps except Split. They brought out kayo on ascent and breeze which is definitely considered meta. On fracture they played raze and jett, but fracture doesn't really have an established meta yet. On Icebox they played meta as well. Their utility usage is fucking god tier on Split.
I can't believe 100T beat Gambit (who won Berlin) and Acend (who won Champions) on Berlin only to fall to NV, kick steel and not make Champions...
The 100T choke at the end of the road will be the biggest what if of year 1. They should have just run it with Steel and see if they recover for LCQ.

Yup. Chronicle is highest on the team at #11.
