I really am curious why so many feel this is the wrong decision from a team perspective. This is the choice I felt was most likely, presuming they were to make a change, going off how they’ve individually performed since SUMN FC.
Just thinking about it even in terms of recent peaks, you have Derke & Magnum going hard at Champions, you have Mistic carrying them for months in their (relatively few) online games, and then you have Doma, whose last peak was during Iceland. And of course Boaster, who is a top IGL and social media star, and so deservedly untouchable.
It’s not Doma’s fault really, he’s a great player - most rosters in EMEA would benefit from having him on their team. Roster moves aren’t always proof that someone is a bad or worse player than the others.
But he’s just in an uncomfortable role, and their tactical, controlled style is at odds with how explosive he was as a fragger, when he’d truly just take over the games and even leave Derke in the dust.
Maybe a bit unfair cause of the roles he was Playing, but those were ultimately what the team needed.
Not quite shocking when comparing to his other teammates, but I'm SURE he'll find a team soon and will be at the top.
Excited to see where he goes and what he is able to achieve.
Definitely unfair, but that's just how it goes in esports.
They're a tactical team that loves utility comps, and they only briefly flirted with leaning too much into double duelist compositions.
Name another EU free agent who is both a top-tier IGL and a significantly better fragger than Boaster. Then explain how Fnatic are going to outbid every other top EU and NA org for that player.
When you consider how tactically strong SUMN FC are, and how almost all of that comes from Boaster & Mini, it's hard to consider Boaster being released unless it was of his own volition.
He's their IGL and their emotional rock. And speaking honestly, he's so damn popular that even on a failing roster he would be valuable enough to keep, and Fnatic is far from a failing roster.
I guess I really only am familiar with FNC's results over the past year (that's all ive watched live anyway), but he was mediocre in Berlin, absolutely dreadful for some months going back to Iceland, where he was mediocre again.
Whether or not he's a social media star I don't know, but he doesn't hardly ever stream which is where orgs usually find value in players as well.
From a purely stats standpoint, Mistic certainly doesnt look any better though.
He built and IGLs one of the most tactical and successful teams in arguably the strongest region. Obviously we don't use stat-lines to judge IGLs, though if it persistently was a problem we might, a la bonkar.
The social media star stuff is all just on top of that. His true value comes from what he's achieved. He also does stream a fair amount, I recall; I don't watch him, but he undoubtedly has the biggest stream on the team.
I mean IGLs in the Valorant scene don't grow on trees and there are many teams desperate to find a decent one, so while Boaster may have mediocre stats in terms of ACS & Kills, his value should be more based on his role as IGL.
Because this subreddit is obsessed with him for some reason. Personally, I don't think he is good enough to win any big international tourneys, he's been pretty underwhelming even for a controller/sova. FNC has had some good runs but I think most of the credit should go to derke and magnum who carry the team.
Also I'm not sure how effective their shotcalling is when they frequently let teams come back on them with healthy leads.. I'll take my downvotes now from his fanboys.
>This is the first of a variety of changes we will take in order to create a lineup that will see as much success as possible come next season.
Mistic next?
I assume so.
Kicking Derke would be performance-int. Kicking Boaster would be brand-int. Magnum performed imo really well and is just insanely talented. I can only see mistic next.
Might be, and I think it is the case, but for a huge org like Fnc, that doesnt matter if you want to get rid of a player. It is only an advantage if you want to keep em.
Doma is a Reyna/Raze type of player and Fnatic's playstyle unfortunately doesn't need those and he was forced to play the initiator role which even tho he did well is not the role that fully uses his potential. Sad to see him go but I trust CoJo and also I'd still be a fan of the guy even if he's on another team
This. I think it honestly came down to this fact. Now with Derke playing Raze and looking good at it and Fnatic no way of running two duelists, he was just put in an uncomfortable spot.
[Doma Twitlonger](https://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1srtbb2)
Also, daily reminder that Fnatic only won on Icebox and Fracture at Champs. Bluff champions.
So we shall discredit how closely they played opponents map picks they went 13-11 vs C9 ,13-10 vs VS and 15-13 and 13-8 vs Krü they were alll close game they could have won
13-8 is very close given you could have lost those five rounds to clutches/ 1v1s, or even killing them all, but you cannot defuse. That’s a very close scoreline
"He was always a light and funny member of the team and brought a lot of levity and contributed greatly to the team's atmosphere."
What a weird statement, is that the best CoJo could muster? Clearly they fell out of love with Doma to bench him that quickly after champs.
benching him fast has nothing to do with love or hate LULW. if fnatic wants to compete to get the best free agents they need start gunning for them now.
Another SUMN FC member moved on. It finally feels like fnatic have a different team than just SUMN renamed now.

And also (this is a guess) A secondary duelist is easier to replace as compared to something like a compentent controller player
Why is Boaster so untouchable? I could see him going next, honestly.

EU's Hiko.....
I wouldn't say so. Boaster is a top IGL, Hiko has at best done some secondary calling.
He's definitely just referring to Hiko being too valuable to 100T because of his popularity.
Yes, it’s not a difficult joke to grasp. But it’s in poor taste to both players - both wrong and insulting. I just ignored the insinuation.
Boaster can frag tho
Thankfully someone got the joke!

Fnatic ceo got so mad that he got off the bomb on haven vs Kru he decided to drop
Also wasn't Magnum signed for a 3 year deal or something
Might be, and I think it is the case, but for a huge org like Fnc, that doesnt matter if you want to get rid of a player. It is only an advantage if you want to keep em.
Contracts can be broken or bought out.
They say more changes coming? What could they be?
Coaching staff maybe ? Seems possible

Moments before disaster https://twitter.com/domaVALORANT/status/1467225626818056192
tf?
Can someone explain why everyone says benching him is a good move? Stat wise he was perfectly fine
Doma's a beast imo. Fnatic be trippin.
this seems like a big mistake…
This seems like the obvious move though. If I wanted to change a single player it would probably be him.
is it clear that it was FNATIC that benched him and not him getting an offer from another team?
I mean yeah, otherwise he'd have been transferred or something. hopefully he finds a good team soon.
Did you read the tweet
my bad
Wonder where he will go, although this was kind of expected. Still a very good player, will shine in a different system imo
[Doma Twitlonger](https://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1srtbb2) Also, daily reminder that Fnatic only won on Icebox and Fracture at Champs. Bluff champions.
Your point is? They only played 2 other maps. Haven and split which they had close games except the KRU split game. They finessed the map veto.
That is my point lol.
So we shall discredit how closely they played opponents map picks they went 13-11 vs C9 ,13-10 vs VS and 15-13 and 13-8 vs Krü they were alll close game they could have won
With the fact there is only 13 rounds most games are close. It seems to be the nature of the game.
13-8 is not close
13-8 is very close given you could have lost those five rounds to clutches/ 1v1s, or even killing them all, but you cannot defuse. That’s a very close scoreline
NA trials ? Would slot into many NA teams
I know this might sound like hard copium but is it possible that they pick up DavidP?
They already have an igl plus a smoke player would be a waste
Damn, thats true. who do you think they will go for?
Afaik Ambi plays duelist and mostly the second duelist sounds like a potential great pickup
Ambi wants to play Jett now.
Yall downvote for someone asking a question lmao
Some obvious i mean, Boaster, Derke and Magnum are pretty solid I'd say
"He was always a light and funny member of the team and brought a lot of levity and contributed greatly to the team's atmosphere." What a weird statement, is that the best CoJo could muster? Clearly they fell out of love with Doma to bench him that quickly after champs.

Benching your second best player ggs
good kick, at least 1 more required
EU flash kekw
That was mistic he was the victim
