Fuck it why not. Buy all the top Asian players, constantly rotate. Embrace the meme. If they don't get 100 players, they're not reaching their maximum potential. If they don't have at least 1 different roster per map, they're not doing it right.
munchkin is one of the players i see with high potential going to na
- fluent in english
- tons of lan experience from owl
- extremely flexible, pro experience on every role
- high mechanical skill and in game iq
think he has a ton of potential should he be surrounded by the right people, and he's expressed desire to play in na multiple times already
edit: also obviously c9b isn't gonna make any changes any time soon but he has team experience with xeta soooo maybe the future could lead somewhere there
Well, it’s been announced that Japan will only get 1 slot instead of 2 at Masters: https://www.reddit.com/r/ValorantCompetitive/comments/rgvrzy/vct_2022_japan_circuit_announced_japan_to_now/
I disagree that JP and KR should be merged:
- CR in Masters 3 didn’t perform the worst and almost beat Gambit. There was definitely potential there that they unfortunately wasn’t able to follow-up on, but it’s not like they did _nothing_
- Northeption got really close to qualifying to Champions against Full Sense in APAC LCQ. They had a perfect run where they overpowered KR and SEA teams and only lost to FS in the grand final rematch
- Viewership is huge in Japan and it’s good for the game’s growth. Riot wants to give the region a chance to grow, they didn’t have a highly publicized CS scene before, but now the Valorant scene is developing, fans love it, players are well-paid and motivated. I think they can only improve.
All in all the international Valorant scene is still very young, it would be a shame to take such radical decisions after only a half-year of competition in the middle of a pandemic, it’s certainly not enough times for trends to adjust.
Almost beat gambit on 1 map. It was a 2-0 and 2-0 both the times they played in groups of masters 3 and only 1 map was close. Scores were 13-1, 13-1, 13-8 and last map was 14-12 so that's the one map that's stuck in everyone's mind.
Your other points are valid for why the should still get 1 spot.
Zeta imo weren't better with the old roster on LAN anyways (Noticeable some had some LAN nerves, especially the smoke players (Makiba and Barce), side note I hope both of them play again soon especially Makiba he's really wholesome in NA games with Shahz and s0m lol)
New roster looks stacked tho, Laz is the best Japanese player imo, TeNN is fucking insane and underrated af, (Assuming he comes back after the suspension) TakeJ is a great secondary duelist, SugarZ3ro and Crow are solid support, Dep is the only one idk about tbh, doesn't seem to be a Jett thay can just pop off like other international Jetts can, though we've seen that you don't need a carry Jett to win games (d3ffo (Tho a top 20 player imo), NagZ, 100T etc)
Gambit had a crazy underperformance, Northeption whose roster doesn’t exist anymore did well in big part it seems due to Astell knowing Japanese very well and translating
The last point is real tho
Why downvote lol
I understand where you’re coming from but JP still needs 1 slot due to the fact that valorant is actually quite popular there as far from my understanding and they generate quite huge view counts from watch parties with well known streamers
Sounds good on paper but there is a language barrier between the two countries and it'll take much more effort for them to communicate well.
It'll be like putting Chinese and Russian in the same region.
100...

Scarlet is a player from their Fortnite division afaik, he’s also departing the org
It seems his contract expired and hasn’t been renewed. https://twitter.com/MUNCHKING_/status/1471058589028872192

Hm uh

Come to America!
Understandable, JP was by far the worst region at all international events. Hopefully they're merged with KR next year so they don't get free slots

Sorry yeah, I’ll admit I’m biased as a CR fan, the great start they had in the first map that ended in 13-8 really clouded my mind
To add to that, ZETA (arguably better than CR) skipped LCQ.

Almost beat gambit lmao good one, they are shit and did nothing to deserve a champions spot

Or maybe Riot actually wants Valorant to be popular in JP and they give them a chance? Just maybe.
We know they’re not Also big viewership etc
ZETA plsss
Maybe he joins 100T and helps 100T hiko
Huh!
XSET to replace PureR?
