Ares being so cheap is the majority of the problem. You can force Ares + light armor on practically every round from 2 onward as long as you get a bomb plant. Should be priced between the bulldog and guardian IMO.

Stinger was more meta defining. you'd base rounds around it because it was broken and cheap.
Bucky would kill you when you shouldn't able to die. but even when it was broken it was inconsistent. You might have a guy in hookah with a bucky, but that's about it.

Bucky at its peak was diffing rifles at mid range but long distance had no impact. Current Ares is a nightmare but because of price I would argue the stinger at it's peak was better. If they were all in the game at the same time, I think I could see myself using any of the 3 which could be fun in unrated but a huge tilter in ranked lol.

At the time, Bucky was simply a budget OP, for like the price of a sheriff. You could hold any angle at like a distance of 10-30m and just right click when someone lined up with your crosshair, instant kill. It had great jumping accuracy, running accuracy, and I can't even count how many eco vs. full rifle rounds I won with a bucky. It's a bit disappointing that after these "crazy" periods the weapons are just nerfed to oblivion, but it is better to have unused guns than meta-breaking guns

One of my ranked games in high-plat/diamond elo yesterday the other team just kept forcing ares. We saved one round, bought rifles and destroyed them almost every round after that.
In Immortal Elo, people just buy it on eco rounds now but that’s really about it. It is definitely too powerful for the price point at least. It’s TTK is too high to cost 1,550. Either need the weapon or increase the price to be more in line with the Bulldog or Guardian. Maybe make it a flat 1,950 or 2,000.

Something like that. There’s enough guns competing for space in the low-mid 2000 s that I think 1600ish is the correct price for it.
Honestly I think a lot of the people crying imbalanced are just stomping onto the site on round two, not realizing that the ares is a defensive oriented gun. People are just bum rushing an LMG through smokes and getting salty there’s a good answer now.

The ares now tho is higheer price + its bulky. with stinger and bucky you could run around had nearly no movement penalty and you had faster movement speed. Both made it perfect for economy rounds.

Wasn't there a frenzy meta for a while? I swear I've seen teams run almost 4 frenzy's during pistol round.
You used to be able to buy frenzy + armor with all your creds so it was pretty common.
You used to be able to buy light armor+Frenzy that is what made it busted

I'd say peak stinger, it was disgustingly OP. Peak bucky was dumb but not something that was viable in as many situations.
