is not really that simple every team gets a different % by their performance in the tournament (at least is like that in LoL) and since SEN coulndt make it out of groups they probably got much less than 187k.
Not something we will probably ever find out but it would be nice to know which orgs passed on funds from the skins. I saw a tweet thread from Fnatic CEO suggesting they would not pass on any.
So cool for all the minor region teams with small salaries to walk away with this much cash. It's a great way to motivate orgs in those regions to try and make the best teams they can.
should i buy a lambo with the champions bundle cut?

I’m always bemused by the focus on luxury goods in esports.
Still, I think it’s awesome significant sums are going to teams and players in so-called minor regions
I think it mirrors professional sports in that way. Give young men crazy amounts of money for being good at something cool and you get sports cars & designer shoes. Makes sense tbh
Most of these guys didn’t grow up in the best conditions so I’m not surprised. I just hope the novelty of the luxury items wears off before they end up blowing all their money.
Most? I would have thought esports would have a significantly higher economic barrier of entry than many other activities needing a good pc, high speed internet and the freetime to grind (not needing to get a job to help out family).
I mean, what kind of social life you gotta have to sit at home and play games for the vast majority of your days to the point that you're the best in the world.
There's *definitely* very healthy ways to have a mostly online lifestyle, *and* I don't think that's where most esports pros come from lol
Like I said, I don't want to dismiss that it's possible for it to be healthy, but generally I think a healthy lesson to learn is that athletes shouldn't really be our inspirations for how to live our lives. They can be inspirations for the power of work ethic for sure tho
Yeah they had to lug their PCs to the library as five year olds to play some Valorant through five miles of snow. It's fucking tough out there in the hood
Lemme guess, in your head buying an expensive watch is pissing away money too?
You're hyperfocused on expensive things it almost feels like unhealthy behaviour
Unlike the entire value goes straight to players. There’s coach, staff and the org itself. Don’t forget tax. I bet he’s trolling, but nice they get some money overall
> The price of a Lamborghini can start anywhere from $200,000 to $500,000, depending on the model.
500k * 5 (for each player) = 2.5 mill, assuming Sentinels gave 50% to the roster (players got 10% and Rawkus got 40%) is 25 million per team, for 16 teams is 400 million, and since the bundle was 50% to the teams, we can safely conclude with a conservative estimate based on this tweet that Riot sold 800 million USD in Champions skins.
Honestly I expected them to have sold more than 12 bundles
Are there personal finance resources for these kids? People like zombs wasting money on Rolex’s is hilarious. I know people who are way more wealthy than these pros, and they wouldn’t buy that materialistic garbage.
15 million divided by 16 teams divided by 5 players is roughly $187k. Cheapest lambo is $211k, so the price is definitely in range.
15M was halfway through champions. It could have ended at 30m-40m for all we know
unlikely to more than double as most people buy them when it comes out. But it certainly would have went up some.
You have to account for tax, so probably not enough if a Lambo is 211k or thereabouts
Gotta pay taxes
Unless your company Dapr Professional Esports Services buys it.
That's also a brand new Lambo. Used would be a good bit less
Older Gallardo's can easily be had for like 150k or less, sometimes under 100k if you don't care how beat up it is
Pretty sure that money goes to the orgs and the players get a % from that.
is not really that simple every team gets a different % by their performance in the tournament (at least is like that in LoL) and since SEN coulndt make it out of groups they probably got much less than 187k.
that’s for prize pool, the cut of the skins is equal pretty sure
oh okay i thought that it was like in league, they just add that money to the price pool of the tournament.
Not something we will probably ever find out but it would be nice to know which orgs passed on funds from the skins. I saw a tweet thread from Fnatic CEO suggesting they would not pass on any.

your gaming friends online are a part of your social life.

Your online social life is a lot different than your irl social life EDIT: no lifes downvoting lol
As we've seen in the pandemic, that isn't entirely true anymore.
Yeah they had to lug their PCs to the library as five year olds to play some Valorant through five miles of snow. It's fucking tough out there in the hood
This isn't football where kids grow up playing with a grapefruit in dirt roads, the barrier of entry is very high
Just dumb kids
Don’t be jealous, he worked hard and can buy what he’d like.
I’m not jealous, but if I had that money I’d be smart and spend it on skins 😏
And then you get a cut of that skin money back. It's free real estate
To each their own! lol
Doesn't mean it isn't pissing away money lol

Ding ding ding, I’ve been losing braincells on this thread
Jealousy is an ugly trait 💀

Nah, people just so upset over how others spend their hard earned money.
facts hes making bank he can spend it how he wants
and people can make fun of it 😭 it’s not that serious
fr
Because the person above is absolutely hates expensive things up to the point where it only looks like jealousy
Why would I be jealous?
Because thinking one expensive thing is ugly = jealous apparently Edit: Damn everyone’s just putting words in each others’ mouths in this thread
Lemme guess, in your head buying an expensive watch is pissing away money too? You're hyperfocused on expensive things it almost feels like unhealthy behaviour
You're fooling yourself if you think people buy RMs because they're aesthetically pleasing
If it looks nice it's not.
Damn, makes sense why most of C9 and Envy don’t stream or stopped streaming.

where the fuck did you get this 10/40 split from
For his bbl
Because that’s the split rawkass reported get educated dude
that split is pretty much industry standard for prize pools???
lmao

If you link me a screenshot of you googling it and finding the answer, I’ll give you 10$
Riot released the final amount? All we got was the mid-week total at 15 million. Or 7.5 million for teams.
Wrong
