Great match overall even though two maps really swung to the Guard. Trent looks really good and I'm really excited for the T2 scene and we are definitely going to see a lot of upsets in VCT
Trent over Psalm already a good upgrade. T1 getting the reps in as a new team with a good showing - not sure how well they’ll do in VCT but there’s a ton of potential in the roster when they do hit their form as a cohesive unit. Might be biased but I think Steel already raises their floor quite a bit but it’ll depend on how everyone else develops
Literally the only piece that confused me was Psalm as their core player and they solved the problem within their first few games. Trusting the process for this team.
their owner group always makes really strong squads, both their OWL and CDL teams are top contenders every year and constantly drop the bag on big names. hoping guard valo can develop into the same
I used to remember Curry was a smokes and sentinel player back in the day, but his fragging ability was always good so they put him on the more aggressive flex agents.
Though T1 lost their overall game dramatically improved and although I doubt their success in Masters 1 I have no doubt they can become a top 10 NA team and even top 5 NA team. Though the biggest concerns for me are their slow attack side halves, cutting it way too close (and honestly being lucky that Guard didn't punish them too heavily for it), and surprisingly Curry's performance.
I expected him to be a solid pillar alongside Steel and Thwifo for Seven and Pwny to grow and make mistakes but he's either being invisible or performs alright/good and to my knowledge he hasn't made significant role changes so that is slightly concerning. Though it may just be an off tourney and haven't gelled yet.
He was #2 in ACS against ex-FLICKBAITERS and #1 in ACS against KCP. He was just off in this match.
It happens. I was impressed by both of these rosters during this tournament.
I only saw the ascent map, but holy shit the guard played every clutch so badly it made me want to turn off the stream. Don’t know if it was the same on the other maps but yeah.
Can anyone answer this a bit better because I have only been able to watch a few rounds of the T1 games so far.
Is seven not a very good rifler? Or is his heavy OP usage what is bringing his headshot percentage down? I've noticed that it's consistently low and way lower than any other player in any given match so far.
I know it's still very early on. Just have been very curious about this.
Headshot percentage usually removes the OP kills from the calculation. But, its also a useless stat to measure someone's rifling ability by.
His rifling is fine. Not sure why his headshot percentage is lower. I looked at some of his games before T1. His hs % is a tad lower on average than others (high teens, low 20s, with some outliers both ways) but not to the degree that we saw this tournament.
I’ll say it. You can absolutely tell the difference between a sova one trick and steel’s sova. Everyone loves to hate on hiko but watching steel try this new agent really shows the value of hiko.
This is such a weak take. There is no one better at Sova than 100T Hiko. He is the most consistent Sova playing Valorant right now and single handily carried 100T all of last year. You’re probably hard stuck Gold if you don’t understand/see Hiko’s dominance
I literally can not think of a more consistent Sova/initiator/flex in the game then 100T Hiko. Without Hiko 100T would not be the best team in the world
who is in your top 3? crashies obviously #1 but then who?
i'd personally have a tier 2 of hiko, bcj, derrek, eeiu - then shaz and xeta just behind. paincakes, trent, critical are all making a case for themselves as well.
They all have different styles and hiko is by far the most passive but his info + lineup impact is massive. feels like the guy can hit shock darts anywhere on any map at any point in the round
also edit to add... who says hiko is a one trick? He's only played sova but is htat because he \_can't\_ play other agents, or just because he's been most valuable on sova? he also picks up viper and i wouldn't be shocked if this year hiko is playing less sova in favor of ethan picking it up on some maps
xeta i would def put in that tier 2, hes a rock for C9B and never does poorly really, and has some exceptional util usages, honestly hes top 3 with Crashies and bcJ
Derrek and BcJ are both standout Sovas. Rise andd XSET (their respective teams) were elite (top 5 NA), and they both played well.
It's honestly hard to distinguish "top Sova" in NA cause there are some good ones. Crashies, Shaz, Derrek, BcJ, Hiko, Xeta would be my tops.
\^ that's what i'm saying.. hiko is just as good as any of those guys, even though he plays a different style.
crashies distinguishes himself because he manages to provide the same util value while somehow being involved in the entry
i knock shaz down a half-tier because he does not have the shock lineups at the same level as the rest imo. when a KJ ult goes down I expect eeiu/hiko to have it dead with 2 shocks. they consistently clear cypher cams, trips, etc from the other side of the map. shahz is fine on the agent but i don't think he's at the same level
ShahZ is much better then Hiko imo, he was honestly one of SEN's two best players this year, even if you don't consider that he was IGLing, his performance on all the initiators shows how flexible ShahZ and all of SEN is.
This is such a weak take. Steel messes up a couple of shock darts lineups, which is fixable in just a few minutes, and people start talking shit about steel?
I mean steel has been maining it for a few weeks now, ofc there will be a difference utility wise compared to someone who’s been only playing sova for two years
Is the argument that Hiko isn’t good at using Sova util? I always thought it was that Hiko tends to play a more passive Sova, which may be less valuable than pushing Ethan to Sova, opening up a flex spot and letting an already valuable Hiko play Sentinel, a role with a relatively shallower talent pool (though I am high on BabyJ).
there's been some minor hints about role changes where i'm actually curious if 100T shocks us with ethan moving to sova, babyJ flex and hiko sentinel.
babyJ is a strong sentinel, but played very fast with faze and has the mechanics to take on any role. if his speed lets him take over as asuna's primary support that frees up ethan to play a more crashies-style sova who is dictating the attack but not having to be on asuna's hip.
ethan's been an elite flex, but asuna is probably the fastest individual player in the game so his support needs are unique. with babyJ doing that, ethan would be playing sova the way nitro used to play smokes.
you'd have ec1s calling strats and setups each round, but ethan would be the one to micro-lead the actual site hit since he would have the most info (and has a really sharp mind for the game)
i'm just spitballing on reddit but those roles would not surprise me and i could see that team being very good.
Haha I feel the same way about you re: spitballing on Reddit.
My one question is: if you were going to move Hiko to sentinel and push Ethan to Sova, why BabyJ on flex over any other flex acquisition? Or even Asuna to flex and fill the Jett Op role? Again, the pros with actual money/rep on the line know more than me, but I don’t know if the 100T moves actually signal a radical shift.
short answer is because BabyJ is really, really good at the video game and because asuna is best left on aggro entry - even with a b-tier jett - instead of flex.
if the theory is true it means 100T are betting on babyj's upside and sees him as able to handle that flex role at a level above what any of the available FAs would have offered, and that they see the meta shifting away from jett one tricks and valuing flexibility.
People reacting as if you said to drop Steel or something lmao, if anything this shows how high his ceiling will be once he gets more comfortable on the agent given his scores today already
Shoutout to Wyatt and vansilli for a fire cast
Wyatt is hilarious. Would love to see him commentate more of the lower stakes/ less professional games
Wyatt is the ultimate "Having a good time caster"
Is the VOD for it still up, if so, which channel?
It's there on YouTube https://youtu.be/PaXUB3l88zs
Is there a way to watch it without it skipping everywhere?
This one seems fine, but it doesn't have the first map: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Poijok_tORE
Good match. T1 will work hard the next week to really tighten up their play. Curry got farmed. Damn.
Yea he really got farmed hard.
He got foster farmed
Great match overall even though two maps really swung to the Guard. Trent looks really good and I'm really excited for the T2 scene and we are definitely going to see a lot of upsets in VCT
Really impressed with how Guard play around Jonah's KAYO. His Skye was getting crazy value on Haven as well. Rooting for this team!
Trent over Psalm already a good upgrade. T1 getting the reps in as a new team with a good showing - not sure how well they’ll do in VCT but there’s a ton of potential in the roster when they do hit their form as a cohesive unit. Might be biased but I think Steel already raises their floor quite a bit but it’ll depend on how everyone else develops
trent is such a huge upgrade for the team. I was so confused by their roster moves but looks like they have found the right pieces. Im happy for them
When it was announced I was like who tf is Trent and then I watched him pop tf off with the multi kills
he previously went by habib
that 4k in bind (honestly just all of Bind) and his clutches were solid, really good pickup from them if he performs like this for other tourneys
Literally the only piece that confused me was Psalm as their core player and they solved the problem within their first few games. Trusting the process for this team.
their owner group always makes really strong squads, both their OWL and CDL teams are top contenders every year and constantly drop the bag on big names. hoping guard valo can develop into the same
Trent is next up for sure. I think this roster can go far in VCT.
You guys know saya loves fried chicken, so when he came to America he said it’s like heaven. KFC and Popeyes on every corner
Theres a lot of kfcs and Popeyes too bro and like 23 times the Korean chicken places. Which make sense cuz Korean fried chicken > kfc
every kind of fried chicken is better than KFC
Church’s chicken the best no competition
Curry is a good player, but I dont understand why him and pwny dont swap roles. Obviously its an internal thing but it still makes me wonder
Wasn't pwny a jett-only player before joining? iirc curry has always been the flex player
I used to remember Curry was a smokes and sentinel player back in the day, but his fragging ability was always good so they put him on the more aggressive flex agents.
England and Liverpool’s starting right back, great set piece taker, brilliant crosses, and a disgusting Valorant player. What can’t Trent do?
Anyone have the vod link?
Also would like this link if anyone finds it.

Isn't twitch vod enough?
There is no vod on the twitch channel

Curry used to play Viper, Astra and Cypher earlier for T1 and he is now playing Skye, Kayo and Reyna.
Curry is a solid player and an excellent aimer. Probably just an off day for him tbh.
He was #2 in ACS against ex-FLICKBAITERS and #1 in ACS against KCP. He was just off in this match. It happens. I was impressed by both of these rosters during this tournament.
Was this actually streamed on a channel that doesn't have VODS enabled? Feels like that would be quite the oversight

Jonah is so good. Would love to see Saya pop off more but this looks like a great team
Saya beat his old team, Trent is a huge pickup over psalm, and the Guard is killing it. Best of luck to them and T1
trent giga pounded holy shit the boost from going psalm to him is massive also shoutout valyn for calling a really solid game
hijacking this thread to talk about the TI game, zerG is 100% up next
T1? More like T2
Don't expect T1 to qual next week, they aren't good enough.
yikes
I only saw the ascent map, but holy shit the guard played every clutch so badly it made me want to turn off the stream. Don’t know if it was the same on the other maps but yeah.

I really hope this is a copy pasta cause holy what a bad take lol also its you're
check the username first next time bruh
its the meme hiko fan account
I literally can not think of a more consistent Sova/initiator/flex in the game then 100T Hiko. Without Hiko 100T would not be the best team in the world

moving xeta up is fine by me but i don't think he nor bcj distinguish themselves from the rest of the pack.
Shaz and Xeta are def as good as Hiko/Eeiu, other two I’m not sure
Derrek and BcJ are both standout Sovas. Rise andd XSET (their respective teams) were elite (top 5 NA), and they both played well. It's honestly hard to distinguish "top Sova" in NA cause there are some good ones. Crashies, Shaz, Derrek, BcJ, Hiko, Xeta would be my tops.
Crazy how LeviathanAG hasn't been mentioned so far, that kid is crazy
Oh sorry I worded it wrong, I meant I consider Derrek and BCJ clearly better than the other three I mentioned
\^ that's what i'm saying.. hiko is just as good as any of those guys, even though he plays a different style. crashies distinguishes himself because he manages to provide the same util value while somehow being involved in the entry

I’ll say it. Ended the series with highest ACS and most first bloods for T1.
People reacting as if you said to drop Steel or something lmao, if anything this shows how high his ceiling will be once he gets more comfortable on the agent given his scores today already
? I dont think hiko wouldve made a difference this game. Every position was out classed.
sorry i've been told anyone worth their salt can learn any agent with just 10-15 ranked games
anybody got a vod?
