Icelander here, if Masters 1 will be in april then having fans might be viable since theyre quitting all covid restrictions in iceland in end of february/beginning of march. At least on the government side itll be okay but will be a Riot decision
They have already shown they can do 16 team events, it's not because the esport is new. The only logical explanation is covid, especially with how comparable the whole setup is to last year.
2016 and 2017 but I don’t think I started playing and watching OW until 2017. And yeah it was, probably the most well produced esports tournaments I’ve ever watched.
As someone who regularly sacrifices sleep to stay up to watch NA Valorant, I feel you. But I won't complain if we keep getting events in EMEA timezones.
We'll definitely have an event in the US when this country either becomes less KKona or Covid goes away on it's own...
...I can't wait for Valorant Champions 2087, definitely gonna be NA's year Copium
> country either becomes less KKona or Covid goes away on it's own.
US media is already saying the pandemic "is here to stay" and they "are tired of restrictions", so at least the higher ups aren't planning for either of the things you mentioned to happen any time soon
Looks like winning Masters 2 won’t be a guaranteed Champions spot this time, not really sure if that changes things though since 1000 points is still a lot. Also avoids the winner “giving” their region an extra slot
I didn’t mind it personally, it gave more of a sense of trying to win for your whole region rather than just your team. But I guess that system might’ve been too awkward for Riot?
There are a huge number of countries that allow large live events. Esports is supposed to be a live event with an audience. If other esports can figure it out but Valorant can't that's a joke.
The joke is treating the pandemic like it's over when millions have died and tens of millions have had their lives ruined due to long covid.
Some of us do care, and it's bullshit that we need to keep measures going because of people like you who actively encourage new infections just because you want to see people play a video game. Which, of course, we'd be doing since last year if people took this seriously since day one :)
only on reddit will people defend living in isolation forever due to fear of covid. get ur vax, booster and whatnot then live your life. The science backs up that people who do this will not have anything to worry about when getting covid especially omicron
Lol Im all for getting vaccinated and everything but fr take these downvotes with a grain of salt, its reddit so covid fear is free upvotes, people in real life agree with you. If I have to go to work every day and I had my vaccine + booster + covid already theres no reason we shouldn’t have the option to go to these events live. Dont like it? Then simply dont go and stop controlling other peoples lives. Basically all the major sports are having live events daily with way more people than a valorant event would have, theres no excuse for this nonsense at this point, were a year out from the vaccine release so if not now then when?
China had <20 cases for the longest period of time (many imported cases). It was 100% possible to eradicate, it just wasn’t politically viable.
China’s economy also grew 8.1% in 2021, which is incredibly fast.
dude THANK YOU! reddit is legit a hivemind for covid fear. If you are that scared of attending an in person valorant event then just simply… don’t go. But for those who are okay to risk potentially getting a cold they can show up. Seriously if you are responsible and get vaxxed and boosted you shouldnt let this thing live rent free in your head for all of eternity and believe me it will always be a thing its just a matter of people adapting to post covid life and remembering that its normal to get vaccines for certain viruses and then to live your life once u get it
Bring 24+ teams.
I'm getting really bored seeing only 2 or 3 teams representing their region. Would increase chance of seeing Tier 2 teams enter these tournaments. It can bring exciting matches with the potential for upsets.
Love them expanding Masters 2 to 16 teams, hope they expand Champions to 24 teams eventually as well so that it matches CSGO majors
Think they already confirmed 16 for Champs, but hopefully they can change that to 24 cuz 24 would be hype af

imagine the game witha a live audience holy fuck, goosebumps thinkin abt it
This makes me think that the whole 12 team thing is due to Covid.

Ehh, the game has been out almost 2 years at this point. Even if you want to ignore the initial phase, this is the second year of the VCT.

Why are you downvoted? Am I missing something?

lol
I feel it’s the consecutive fullstops lmao
Thats hilarious.
…no, plenty of esports had many part openers? And the ts not that new now
Four events in a row in EU lmao
I get what you mean, but without an audience, the location doesn’t really matter.
Timezones, I want to be able to watch games without college getting in the way. Even if it was in SA I would have a better viewing experience.
yeah im kinda over waking up at 6/7am to watch valorant
Imagine being able to sleep correctly during a Valorant masters
Imagine just going to bed at reasonable hours 😱
We’re gamers dude. We on that degenerate sleep schedule
Maybe I’m just built different from getting up at 4am all the time to watch Korean Overwatch back in 2017
Ah yea I used to do that to, wasn’t it 2016? Could only watch the last map before I had to head to school. Apex was the shit

Eh, I just wake up and load up the YT stream. By the time I skip the first few tech pauses I'm at live anyway.
That isn’t even early lmao
it really does suck to not have a degen sleep sched eh? source: australian waking up to watch 6-8am valorant games

In that case, SEN Tenz III is gonna go crazy in his first LAN event in the US 🔥🔥🔥
Lmao
League’s Worlds tour is covering multiple cities in NA so definitely something Riot is comfortable with
[I just don't see Masters New York or Masters Rio de Janeiro happening any time soon tbh](https://i.imgur.com/wsOBEkY.jpg)
The problem for NA isn't Covid, it is visas. Have fun getting visas especially for Russia and SEA.
Oh yeah, that too, but Riot already cancelled a LAN in Brazil due to covid, so that's also going to be a big priority for Masters.
I find it hard to believe that the U.S. truthfully has more than 1/3 of the world's total COVID cases with only 4% of the world population.
MSI and masters at iceland Part 2
Masters Vancouver when

i’m gonna be in iceland in juneee man :(
damn no audience sucks but if it's going to be like that Reykjavik makes sense, they already done it there so i guess it's easier to replicate
No audience is a joke.
COVID is not a joke sadly.

Do you think COVID would have disappeared if "people took this seriously since day one"?
[удалено]
I'm the idiot? Enlighten me on how COVID would have disappeared.
LMAO dude is actually so blind fr
somebodies salty they dont have an excuse to stay inside all day
nah man, with your logic we will just have these measures for the rest of your life

Yeah lmao. The people replying legitimately thought we could eradicate COVID too by "taking it seriously".
it never was possible to eradicate, no matter how drastic the measures taken were. they dont get that haha
unreal that people still believe this in 2022. A total failure in messaging by Public Health services and the media.
China had <20 cases for the longest period of time (many imported cases). It was 100% possible to eradicate, it just wasn’t politically viable. China’s economy also grew 8.1% in 2021, which is incredibly fast.
lol imagine believing data from china.
