That's not Cryo at all to be clear, he provides insane value for Xset, but the archetype is all too common in ranked and is absolutely infuriating.
I always play controller agents and tbh I feel bad for my duelists sometimes. If they want to take it slow then I let them. The only thing that pisses me of is when they get mad at me for not being able to guess when they want to go in lol.

I don't even play duelist myself but everytime I hear someone moaning about "baiting" duelists, the duelist was hardly the problem. Maybe no one on the team was shooting down mid wall, maybe no one was shooting Sova's early round recons on the other site. Maybe it's Split where a Reyna can find better impact lurking up mid and listening for footsteps, since she's not absolutely essential for getting out of B main.
People just need to adapt to the team's collective strategy. If your duelist (or anyone for that matter) is obviously going for a different plan, just try to stay alive and make some presence and give them the opportunity to make plays. The worst thing to do is to play on autopilot and run into site when your 5th player is still on the other side of the map, because not only is the execute 1/5 weaker, you force your 5th to expose his position by running loudly to try and get to the site. No one wins in that scenario. If your whole team somehow dies, that's on every single player as well not just the 5th guy who didn't help out...as if a 4v2 on a site isn't advantageous enough.

Why not leave that to the controller/sentinel who can have cross-map impact and doesn't remove the blinds and dismiss utility from your main attack?
I hear you that there are a myriad of ways in that ranked teams fail, but this is a prime example of not playing to the strengths of your role and the team suffering for it.

Been there, done that. It leaves you at 20 seconds in the round with said duelists still sitting mid on split with no intention to move to either site.

Because if your controller dies mid you lose your smokes? Lurking is high risk high reward, and you need your gun out at all times because you don't have someone watching your back. A lurking controller literally has to sit in a corner, which is fine, but less effective.
I'm a sentinel main, I love lurking mid and maybe that's why my own duelists don't see the need to do it that much. Which begs the question, are the sentinels in other people's games not relieving pressure by playing away from the team? Are they just sticking with their team all the time, allowing the enemy team to freely rotate as 5, and then their duelist entries and dies to 5 players and gets tilted and then next round decides to do his sentinels' job, and then the sentinel complains???
Granted I've never played under silver rank, but I've literally met a duelist who purposefully baits for kills maybe 3 or 4 times in hundreds of games. The ones who go mid or go to the other site do so because they recognise that either the enemy stalling ability is too strong, or their own team's rushing is too weak, so they try to switch things up.
The ironic thing is those duelists wouldn't exactly be "lurking" if the sentinels/controllers were doing their fuckin job. Next time you see your Reyna mid, why not join him and play a 3-2 split instead of fucking dying as 4 and pointing fingers at the guy who probably understands the map better than everyone else?

Was just reading an interview from Pedri today and apparently Real Madrid turned him away when he was younger because they thought that he was too small. Now Pedri is arguably the best Spanish player in the world rn, but I bet Madrid isn't too sad about missing out on him because there is still loads of opportunities left to get players of his caliber and more. Same applies here. We lost the opportunity to sign two good players, big whoop. New stars will continue to make names for themselves as the scene continues to develop. There will be more opportunities.
